Lotto StudParticipantI believe that Barnes biggest weakness is that he does not play D as we’ll as he plays offense. Barnes offensive game stands out more than his defensive game, I never see Harrison go all out on denfese like he does on offense. He does not play passing lanes or anything .
What is the biggest weakness you see in Barnes game?

BKKnicksfanParticipantHe’s not a freak athlete

ghettosermonParticipantHis biggest weakness is that his ball handling is not competent. It affects his all around game. Limits his ability to drive and create for himself. Barnes has a ton going for him but until he improves his ball handling he won’t be a big time NBA scorer. Notice any time he’s pressured he seems to crumble because he has zero confidence in his ability to dribble in tight areas.

Lotto StudParticipantBy all means I am not a Barnes hater because I love his game, but if his offensive game is not working he will be irrelevant, because he does not play D as well as he plays offense or at least take the initiative to.

ilike.panochasParticipantWeakness: He has average athleticism, average first step. He hasn’t shown me he can create shots off the dribble. He is not a playmaker or a player that creates and set up his team mates for easy shots (I guess you can say he doesn’t make his team mates better like other elite wingplayers in the NBA).
Bottom line: He is an overrated prospect to me, that is fortunate enough to be in a weak draft class. If I was to rank him amongs last year’s wingplayer in 2010 draft, I would have him behind Evan Turner, and Wes Johnson.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantHarrison Barnes may not be a freak athlete like many of us previously thought…
…but there is absolutely no way he has average athleticism.

M-DYMESParticipantI don’t think anyone thought he had freak type athleticism. He has above average, but he just was an all around solid prospect coming out. He still is a very good player. Its just I dont see him ever becoming a star, more of a Luol Deng type. If he ever builds up confidence, a desire to take over games, and his ball handling, then maybe he becomes a Paul Pierce type star. But he seems comfortable just hanging out on the wing, dishing the ball around, playing smart, and not taking over. As long as he does that he will be a solid starter but never the superstar people hope he would be.

butidonthavemoneyI’ve been watching Barnes all season, and he is both an above-average athlete and an above-average defender. He doesn’t play the passing lanes because he’s playing great position defense. He’s also a great rebounder.

apb540ParticipantAnyone questioning Barnes athleticism must have been watching a different play than me for the last two years. He does have to work VERY hard on his ball handling in order to become a star on the next level. With the 2011-2012 season most likely not gonna happen, I think he might just stay in school for another year.

apb540ParticipantGood point about his D Ron.

D7H7NParticipantHarrison’s family is also pretty well off financially. So that might be a factor in his decision for staying at UNC for another year.

Lotto StudParticipant"Harrison’s family is also pretty well off financially. So that might be a factor in his decision for staying at UNC for another year."
What does this have to do with his weakness????? Very irrelevant statement to this topic.
Doc & Austin Rivers are very full up, but will he stay more than 1 year, because of it HELL NO!

M-DYMESParticipantIt doesn’t. He was merely commenting on apb540’s thoughts of him staying in school another year. Get off his back man, the comment was perfectly acceptable.

Lotto StudParticipantI did not see that I really thought he was being random……I APOLOGIZE.

M-DYMESParticipantOk I got u. But as far as what you said about that, I gotta agree. No way he stays back unless he wants to drop drastically in the draft. This draft is fairly weak as far as having premier talent (i think it is deep though) so he still is a high lotto pick this year. It may be better for his game to stay back, but it is not a smart move by any means to do so for his draft stock.

sheltwon3ParticipantI actually think if Barnes stays another year and works on his handle and passing, he could stay the same or maybe fall a few spots but he will come out a better player and also he does not have to worry about the lockout situation
