What they did to the Lakers today was just unfair. They’d literally just walk the ball up a pull up from 3 and drain it every time. They both looked incredibly smooth out there. Draymond Green looked pretty good as well.  Ezeli  grabbed 5 boards in 18 minutes. He was a prescence on defense but his offense has a LONG way to go

Terrence Ross reminds me a ton of JR Smith. Crazy athlete and isn’t afraid of jacking up shots. He’s fun to watch

I swear the Rockets are idiots of they deal some of this young talent for Dwight if he doesn’t resign. Motie looked great, what lowered his stock was his rep as being soft and can’t rebound. Well he was the exact opposite of that. White made some nice passes, struggled to finish but looks to be a good facilitator. I was expecting him to be more physical on the boards though.

Lamb was nice as well , talented scorer. He just tries to hard right now with his handles, he should let the game come to him more. Terrence Jones was really impressive, he showed the range people questioned him of having and he looked very quick. He looked like he could play SF very well if asked.

Ed Davis reminds me of Brandan Wright. Offensive game is limited and raw but is really good as a weakside defender

Hassan Whiteside, rebounding well and blocking shots. He’s doing what he is supposed to do, still really raw but he should make the 15 man roster this year.

Robinson is pressing, if he let the game come to him he’d be so much better. Either way he’s really skilled , he just needs to become more patient. He ws PISSED after the game. I have full confidence he will put it together. He knows he didn’t play that well. I wouldn’t be surprised if in his next game he goes off

    Jimmer… LOL

Taylor looks good, a knock on him was consistency on his shot so we will see if he can keep this up. Great athlete out there

MKG looked awesome. If he gets a jumper, he’ll be elite. I just worry that if the game slows down he won’t be able to be that effective on offense early in his career

Biyombo’s offensive game looks better, but he’s strange to me. He’s a good defender but he’s not nearly as explosive looking as he looked coming out. He hustles like crazy though. He’s a good defensive role player at worst

Kemba is best served a 6th man imo, fringe starter. Talented and fun but not effective when he has to constantly create for himself.

I missed the Wizards game so I have nothing to say there. How did Beal look? Jenkins?

No doubt Harrison Barnes is going to fit in well with the Warriors. When I saw them outscore the Lakers 17-2 I wasn’t too concerned with watching the rest of the game since I didn’t think it would be very exciting. One thing I definitely noticed though is Klay Thompson is a definite sharpshooter and its clear playing with the USA select team helped improve his game. Very glad for the Warriors.

I have no concerns about Beal. Got to the line and was attacking which is somethin. I didnt see at florida. Continues to play within the flow of the offense and not another shot jacket like the wizards old SG nick young. Solid defense. Keeps his composure. Summer league is gonna kill me cause id rather see him and Wall. Mack sucks doesnt find beal when he’s open

Word is that the Rockets aren’t complete idiots after all, the reports that they were offering all three of their draftees was apparantly false. They’re giving the Magic a choice of one of the three, and aren’t letting them touch Montie. If the supposed offer was really there, the Magic would’ve jumped on it imeadiatly, there’s no way a guy like Daryl Morey was going to give up so much talent for a guy that doesn’t want to be there anyways.

It’s Motie, his name is Motiejunas not Montiejunas,  I have no idea where this ‘N’ came from but i swear his name gets misspelt more than it is spelt correctly on here.

Oh also forgot to mention in my first post, John Jenkins looked really good today against the Wizards. Kid was all over the place, he’s amazing playing off the ball. I understand why people ranked him as the best shooter in the draft now lol.

He actually was able to create for himself a bit and got inside. On multiple occasions he received the ball on the inside and finished very well around the rim. He also was able to create space for his jumper very often. His catch and shoot abilities were also very good.

He didn’t create for anyone, not really his game though. He wasn’t selfish as he’d often pass the ball off but he’s not out there setting people up. He picks and chooses his spots, and when he did it was deadly. He was unguardable all game. When he was going inside he wasn’t afraid of contact in the slightest, in fact he embrased it and used it. He played extremely smart, he honestly from first glance didn’t make any mistakes. All his shots were good ones, even if they were contested he either made them or he created enough space to justify it. Offensively he was everything we thought he could be and some. The NBA game will help his offense a lot with the hand chacking rules. He’ll be able to drive pretty well in the NBA. Klay had a similar problem in college of not being able to get inside but once he got to the NBA he was able to drive. Both of their offensive games are benefitting from the NBA game. I’d compare the way he played to Durant/Joe Johnson like. Not saying he’s going to be as good but thats the way his game looked today. Jumper oriented, very smooth and smart and could occasionally get to the rim

He didn’t rebound well but it’s not like he was getting pushed around, he just never hunted the ball. On defense was was solid, he did his job. He wasn’t like MKG where he’d fly around the court getting steals and screwing up the offense but he did his job and guarded his man very well.

All in all he was a very smart and smooth scoring machine out there who didn’t make any glaring mistakes. He just didn’t do a whole lot outside of score well, but it’s not like he did anything bad.

        Offense – A+ – Unguardable all game

Defense – B – Did his job, nothing spectacular

Passing – C – Not selfish but not productive

Rebounding – C- – Could have got more rebounds, but he wasn’t getting pushed around by his man

Overall – A/A+ – He was DOMINANT but was pretty one dimensional. He’s the opposite of MKG, he’ll excel in 1 area and be passable in all others while MKG will be good at everything but won’t excel anywhere except defense. He was very promising today and was everything we hoped for him to be

Remember when people said Jimmer was going to be Steve Nash.

Also if Mullens can keep this up, Cats looks to have a decent line up but they need to get a solid 4 man

    PG  Sessions/Walker

    SG Gordon/Henderson

    SF MKG

    PF??????/Biyombo

    C Mullens/Hayward???

They need to sign Hayward is they have not already and also add a back up or starting caliber 3

They also need to get a 4 man but not to overpay because next year, they can probably draft a 4 or 5 depending on how their young players look.

I think 25 -28 games next season should be expected next season but the season after that if they draft well maybe they can get into the 35-40 range.

PLEASE don’t do this…getting hyped bout summer league…*Daydreams back to when Anthony Randolph and Anthony Morrow were breaking summer league records* …but our rotation players did look good either way…

Beal kinda surprised me as in he attacked the rim and didn’t settle.. but also in the fact he didn’t get any boards…

The difference between Randolph and Morrow vs Barnes and Klay is simple

Klay and Barnes did it in a way that translates better. Not saying this game means they’ll be stars but they did stuff that translates. Morrow was similar to Barnes except he isn’t the defender Barnes was nor the athlete near the rim. Randolph has always had the ability and in the SL is style of play of just being more athletic than the other guy actually works against these crappy players. We already know Klay can play in the NBA so Im not worried about that. But Barnes did things that translate better. Morrow was purely a jump shooter and Randolph was just super aggressive. Barnes played smart and his offense was the whole package

Randolph has always had the talent to be a star. He just is stupid. All he had to do was listen and he’d be so much better a player. He’s still super young so there is maybe some hope but he’s a bone head. If he had a head on his shoulders he’d easily be a key guy for someone in the NBA. He has great athletic ability, a mid range jumper, rebounds and blocks shots. He’s just out of control on both ends of the floor and thinks he’s a superstar and acts like one which screws himself up. Given the PT he’ll put up really good numbers (still does per 36) but he’ll do the little things that screw you over.

Harrison Barnes looked extremely polished. Very fundamentally sound, great shooter, skilled and has size and athleticism. He plays with a great pace to his game.

MKG played how we would expect him to although Steve Kerr and the commentators I felt didn’t accurately depict how he was scoring by saying he is showing he will be able to score. All of his baskets were layups or dunks except 1 – 3 pointer and all came in transition situations or secondary break situations. The press created steal opportunities and then let’s face it; the Kings are awful.

Jimmer plays with no joy, no passion, and no command. When you are the PG you do not let 6’9 Thomas Robinson bring the ball up and look you off, you demand the ball and get your team in the offense. Jimmer passively always allowed this to happen. It appears he does not fit in this locker room and I have said this since last year. I will leave it at that. Lol! And he knows it and I feel he wishes he was in a different environment where he fit the culture of the locker room better. Certain dynamics will always be at play and it just won’t work. But he’s got to play with more energy. He gets screened so easily and he "fakes" hustle as my old coach used to say. Meaning he pretends he is trying to defend when really you can tell he has no interest in it.

Watching the Wizards play right now. Beal looks solid. Does everything well, nothing spectacular. Doesn’t really look 6’5 to me. Has a great attitude. Plays really good defense. Low bust potential. I’d say he and MKG have the lowest bust potential because of their mental make up and also they are talented.

Klay Thompson? Saw that he could play last year. I wasn’t surprised when he torched the Lakers. Quietly the Warriors are a few veterans and health away from being a really good team.

SG of the future? I dint realise Klay was already old at 22 and cant be their SG of the future. cause Lamb is so much younger at 20 years old that he can be their long time starter in a few years when Klay starts slowing down..

If Barnes can leran to create for others he will be a good player, Hope Klay Thompson can continue this form into the NBA season, and you are right about Ezeli, his defence is very good, but he needs to relax on offence, let the game come to him.

John Jenkins looked excellent and we all expected him to have a beautiful shot which was true but he did a little bit of everything on the court. Played some defense and was very active. The truth is everyone expects the Hawks to dip a lot this year but the truth for a while has been that the team has been built around Horford and Smith. For a team which has lacked depth for the longest time the Hawks flipped paying Joe Johnson 20 mil a year into paying only 15 mil total for Lou Williams, Anthony Morrow, Kyle Korver, and John Jenkins to replace him. Even if they make no further moves the Hawks will be such an explosive team with Teague running the pace, Smith and Horford inside, and a plethora of shooters. Even when Teague needs a rest Devin Harris will have no problem keeping the up tempo pace.

This draft is looking better than many thought.  I mean i know it is summer league but some of the guys are playing great and not just putting up numbers but showing basketball awareness and legit NBA skills.

    ^^^^

Shelton, that’s good to here. Haven’t watched much Summer League but it is great that the guys look good. Davis still might be the only super star out of this group though but there is a lot of depth.

Sad to here about Jimmer struggling. I compared him to a Dajuan Wagner/Steve Kerr hybrid when we were doing the mock drafts for that year. I think he is an undersized, high volume shooting guard with great range, decent build, but is more of a streak shooter. Won’t be a huge assist guy or rebound guy. Then Kerr, because he is a smaller shooting guard who can just shoot wide open jumpers and not do much else. But, he is deadly from 3 and on a great team (Bulls dynasty) he did well.

That might have been the oddest comparison in history, but Jimmer might fulfill the Juanny/Kerry hybrid comparison.

As a rookie Jimmer averaged 7.6 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists with 1.1 turnovers in 18.6 minutes. He shot 38.6% from the field, 36.1% on three’s, and 83.3% from the line.

As a rookie, Wagner played more minutes and averaged more points with 13.4 points in 29.5 minutes a game. With 1.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists against 1.8 turnovers. Wagner went for 0.8 steals as a rookie while Jimmer only averaged 0.5 steals a game. Wagner shot 36.9% from the field, 31.6% from 3, and 80% from the line.

Similar shooting stats for the two, with Jimmer shooting a little bit better in each category. Both had lackluster rebounding stats, subpar assist numbers but passable assist to turnover ratios. Neither guy had a bunch of steals either.

By the way, Jimmer is listed at 6’2, 195 pounds with Wagner showing up at 6’2, 200 pounds. Wagner seemed longer and more athletic though, with each having similar builds. But, I would put money on Wagner having more muscle.

I don’t think Wagner was really, really sick by then so I think the comparison is valid. Jimmer could be a Wagner type with less explosiveness, length, and athleticism, but better shooting numbers. Neither guy is a lead guard, while Jimmer may have played more point in college (Antonio Burks played point guard during Wagner’s year at Memphis).

Steve Kerr only played 6 minutes a game in 23 games as a rookie for the Suns, but the 6’3, 175 lb. shooting guard played 21.3 minutes a game in 78 games in his second year in Cleveland going for 6.7 points a game, 1.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 0.6 steals with 0.9 turnovers. Damn, Kerr shot the hell out of it with 44.4% from the field, a league high 50.7% on three’s, and 86.3% from the line. He did, however, shoot lower from each range in limited minutes as a rookie with 43.5% from the field, 47.1% from downtown, and 66.7% from the charity stripe (6-9 for the year).

For his career, Kerr went for averages of 6.0 points, 1.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.6 turnovers in 17.8 minutes a game. In his career he shot 47.9% from the field, 45.4% from 3, and 86.4% from the line.

Ironically, Jimmer’s rookie year saw him match Kerr’s career averages in rebounds, assists, and steals, while getting 18.6 minutes as a rookie compared to Kerr’s 17.8 minutes a game for his career. Jimmer averaged more points at 7.6 a game vs. Kerr’s 6 points a game for his career, but Steve Kerr went for 8.6, 8.2, 8.4, 8.1, and 7.5 points a game as a member of the Bulls from 1994-1998. Jimmer had 1.1 turnovers vs. 0.6 per Kerr’s career, but Jimmer might have handled the ball more.

It looks like Jimmer is giving you Kerr’s overall numbers with Wagner’s shooting stats. He looks like a 3rd or 4th guard, but I think he needs some discipline.

Another comparison might be a bigger, slower version of JJ Barea with fewer floaters but a better 3 point stroke.

So far, the Kerr-Wagner hybrid comparison looks about right for Jimmer. If he could get his shooting stats up to Kerr’s level to go along with the 13 points per game that Wagner had as a rookie (along with Kerr’s career high of 3.2 assists in his second season) then Jimmer might have more value in his career.

ohh I just typed alot of stuff but I see your being smart benny. But you misread me I said "SURE UP" meaning get a starting sg and a solid sg off the bench in  lamb second string so they can be "SURE" they dont need any other sg for the remainder of their contracts and if they resign the next six or more years  . I never said klay wasnt the sg of the future  I was  talking about the sg slot as a whole.

The lakers sg slot as a whole isn’t "sure" for the future kobe is going to retire sooner then later who is the back up sg this season? Nobody knows thats uncertainty. Now getting two sg thats going to be with you for the foreseeable future  thats ….."Sureing the slot".

I went into detail  because it seems like you didn’t understand.

Lakers do need some players for the future but Kobe is not retiring sooner than later. He still feels he is in his prime and he may be wrong but he still has AllStar ability for at least three more years and after that it’s not unreasonable to think he can be a 18-22ppg scorer from age 37-40 ala Jordan

Barnes didn’t surprise me with the way he plays, key thing is what is he going to do when his jumper isn’t falling???    We all know what he can do when it is falling but we also know how bad he looks when it doesn’t fall because he isn’t that good at creating. I hope his coaches tell him to work on getting I the lane for the rest of the summer because after one game n the NBA shooting like that teams are going to start making him drive, and since he doesn’t rebound that well or create for others, that could be a big problem for e Warriors as far as his effectiveness in a game
