justincParticipantHavent really posted too much, but…
I hear so much about Barnes being compared to Grant Hill, Pierce, and Deng. When i really dont see much of Grant Hill because hes missing the incredible facilitating and ball handling ability. I somewhat see the pierce and deng in him. But can he grow more into a nicholas batum type player perhaps? Chandler parsons on a good day?
What do you guys see in him besides those first 3 comparisons?
And when time comes, can the GSW sign both him and klay to an extension? If not who would you choose and why?

justincParticipantForgot to mention, maybe he can turn out into a Paul George type?

festar35ParticipantI don’t see the George comparison as he is a more all-around player. I think Barnes is more of a scorer that plays very similar to Danny Granger however has a bit more explosion to his game.
He can be an elite scorer in the NBA one day IMO and I really look forward to watching him and the “Splash Brothers” over the next few years.

MakarosParticipantA more athletic Paul Pierce, and that’ll be scary!
Unfortunately no, I don’t think that GSW will be able to keep them both BUT they still have two years of them on the same team to feast upon!

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI don’t see the Grant Hill comparison either. Unless he develops a better handle down the line. But even then Barnes hasn’t shown me that he can be as good as a passer as Hill was. It’s not out of the question though. I think Barnes can be a more athletic Danny Granger. I think that’s his ceiling.

Chilbert arenasParticipantIn terms of the contracts they should front load Klays first year with somewhere between 13-17mil since he’s due a year earlier than Barnes, then have Klay at 4-6mil a year after that while back loading Barnes where in his final year he’s making substantially more. This way it doesn’t hit their salary cap too hard. The Thunder did this with Nick Collison years back where he was paid 11 mil for his first two years of his contract then when KD Serg and Westbrook were up for their deals Collisons went down to 1-2 mil a year. Collison got paid but didn’t hurt the cap.

Memphis MadnessParticipant10.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.6 steals. 25.1 minutes a game.
9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals. 25.4 minutes a game.
The first set of numbers was a solid NBA player with a few All Star game appearances. He helped his team win a title and was known as a great second or third option throughout his career.
The guy with the second set of numbers is Harrison Barnes.
The guy with the first set is the guy I compared Harrison Barnes to before the draft. Yeah, the guy with the first set of numbers was Sean Elliott from his rookie year.
Now, Harrison Barnes is doing even better in the playoffs.
His postseason averages in 38 minutes a game are 15.1 points, 6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.8 steals.
Now compare this to Sean Elliott’s Per 36 Minute averages in the playoffs of 15.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.7 steals.
So, Harrison Barnes is doing what I thought he would do. The guy is a PERFECT fit where he is as an ideal third option. This might be the team of the future out West, especially if the Thunder’s salaries (I am looking at you Serge Ibaka and your $12.5 million salary coming up) hinder them from keeping all their guys, or adding veteran pieces.

phila9012ParticipantYep, but sean elliot was 2 years older when he was averaging those numbers. So harrison barnes should be a rich mans sean elliot, but other than that that is a good comparison and he should make 2 to 3 all star games like sean elliot.

sheltwon3ParticipantConsidering Curry is getting underpaid, GSW should find a way to keep both because Bogut contract will end soon. Also Jefferson’s contract will be done after next year but I do believe that if Barnes asks for too much even if they can sign him, they will let him go.

mike_r232ParticipantIf they want to keep a lineup of Curry, Klay, Barnes, Lee, and Bogut for the long run, they will have a very hard time paying them. That is just too many guys that will require $10 million+ contracts. They will likely have to do a James Harden and trade one away eventually. Bogut’s number don’t necessarily jump out at you, but he is very important to the team. Biedrins and Jefferson come off the books soon and both have enormous contracts. But, you would replace that and more with the money that Barnes and Klay might get. Also, you will still need to pay some bench players. It will be very tough, but I would love to see them all somehow stay.

justincParticipantwe do have a 9mil Beans contract expiring and a RJ contract thats 10mil. Both are player options, what would the dubs do with those next year before the deadline? can that affect keeping barnes and klay together, and replacing bogut, i believe is fairly easy for a cheap price as i feel like the league has quite a lot of defensive bigmen that clog the paint that are still fairly young. David lee on the other hand gets paid 15mil and doesnt play defense, yes he is a 20-10 guy every night, but is he worth the 15-17mil if he doesnt give a crap on defensive rotations?

BasketballJunkie224Participanti think deng is a good comparison, although i think he is a better shooter than loul deng but has less of a complete game as him thus far

SpacegrassParticipantMichael Finley! Someone compared him to Finley around draft time last year and I still feel that is the most reasonable comparison based on the current player and his upside.
