Harrison Barnes

Adrian Wojnarowski: An NBA scout gushing over UNC's Harrison Barnes battling KDurant at Chicago camp last night. "Top pick in the next draft -- by far," he says http://twitter.com/#!/WojYahooNBA/status/85753066812485634

Wouldn't doubt it. But who

Wouldn't doubt it. But who gets him? Odds, are the Cavs won't get the first pick two years in a row. He would be good on Charlotte, Detroit, or the LA Clippers.

Clip show making playoffs

Clip show making playoffs next year so no chance!! But for real I think Barnes will come into the draft as the most NBA ready prospect who can make the greatest impact his rookie year, but scouts love potential and Anthony Davis and possibly even Perry Jones have more" upside" than Barnes. I totally disagree with this logic but I also think Derrick Williams was much more NBA ready than Irving and we all know how that went.

Harrison

I am a huge Harrison Barnes fan and I hope he shows why I think he is the number 1 pick this year. The guy simply does not have a flaw in his game outside of ball-handling, and its not even that bad. Plus he went to that PG camp so it should be better. Harrison Barnes has the chance to be as good at basketball as anyone who has ever stepped onto a court (outside of MJ.) Bold claim but I stick by it.

And one of you people with 3k plus posts needs to update the dudes player profile. Loul Deng? lol

Towards the end of the season

Towards the end of the season last year i really started to see the Kobe Bryant comparison. ( Young Kobe before all of you people get carried away with the Negatives).

Harrison is starting to carry himself the same way Kobe mocks everymove Jordan did. Harrison is just smooth and under control the same way Kobe plays. Plus i heard his work ethic is insane too. I mean no one will top Kobe/Jordan's because i dont think there is enough hours in the day but still.

He would be perfect on the Raps

Raps need an upgrade at the 3, someone who can shoot it from deep as Derozan isn't a deep threat. They should be a team in the hunt for him as well.

Again.. Clippers own the Wolves pick but I think the Wolves could win 40 games next year there more talented than people think they just need to get a better coach. They have 11 players under 24 years old give it some time.

I'm a big fan of Barnes, he's

I'm a big fan of Barnes, he's got great size for a wing, is clutch and has a very good and still improving jumper. When you have those things from a 18 or 19 year old player it's easy to see him developing in to a very good player. His athleticism is only average, but his skillset and style of game don't rely on it. I think he is easily top 3 next season and has the potential to go #1. I would have taken him at #1 if he came out after his freshman year.

I think there is going to be

I think there is going to be a lockout unfortunately and maybe a shortened season if not a lost season. In fact the way it's looking this might go on for 2 seasons realistically from how apart the 2 sides are.

But if there is a season and draft then next draft will see a lot of really good to great players. As it stands right now Barnes goes #1 but by this time next year a lot of things can change.

I still think there is going to be a lot of good solid pros coming from this draft. Much more good players then great players but also possibly more players period that make an NBA team. This draft might go down as the best draft of just good players. Maybe no really great players from this draft, but I see a lot of solid players, NONE with the upside of Barnes though.

I really like Harrison

I really like Harrison Barnes, but when I watch him he's good, but I question if he'll ever be special at the next level. I don't see the Kobe comparison, young Kobe had world class athleticism and way better handles. I could see Harrison Barnes make a few all star appearances, but have trouble seeing him as a franchise player. I could be wrong though he has an excellent work ethic and has a lot of room for improvement and hope he proves me wrong.

Have always liked Harrison Barnes

But, I think this is an example of a story being blown out of proportion. The headline on RealGm was literally, "Scout tabs Barnes as #1 Overall pick in 2012". A scout. Said it. One. At a camp, that Anthony Davis was not at. Before the NCAA season starts. Incredibly impressed with Barnes ability, think it is fantastic that he did well at the camp and I have him as my #2 prospect in 2012 right now. Still, I think Anthony Davis and Barnes will be battling for that top spot, and that this was the opinion of ONE SCOUT! Scouts have different opinions on things, and I have a hard time taking the word of one anonymous scout as gospel. So, Anthony Davis, Quincy Miller, Perry Jones and Jared Sullinger, one scout likes Harrison Barnes a lot, and you have some work to do, in his eyes.

Two seasons?!? Could you

Two seasons?!? Could you imagine that? How much money do you have to make before you just become a dick? I am a broke a** college student, basketball one of my favorite things, gets me through the days some times lol. These fools are aruging about how to split billions of dollars. They should all have to live a day in our lives, then negotiate after that. Give their Greedy a**es some prespective.

I wouldnt doubt it, woulda

I wouldnt doubt it, woulda been #1 this year. Hes from Iowa so that rules out stern sending him to a hometown team. Charlotte will be pretty bad next year and LA will no doubt have a top pick from MIN. I bet they give it to the big market team, LA and pair the #1 with Blake.

I like Barnes as a prospect

I like Barnes as a prospect and his attitude, but I just don't see #1 pick overall type of talent in him. He still lacks the ability to create his own shot off the dribble, he has average 1st step and athleticism. He has shown the ability to be a clutch player. Majority of his scoring is based on jumpshot and spot up shots.

The guy I will be keeping my eye on that could be the #1 pick is Quincy Miller. If he shows that he is now back to his old form and 100%, he is the guy that I see that has the skill-set to be the best prospect of 2012.

What exactly about Barnes makes you think he is not going to be a star in the NBA? His athleticism is certainly not average. Jodie Meeks is average. Barnes is at least above average, if not "good." His overal shot is light years ahead of most other 19 year old college prospects. Work ethic, mental toughness, and coachability are some of his biggest strengths so why would this kid not average 25+ ppg in his prime? Q-Miller (or anyone else) is going to have to reallly stand out if they are going to knock me off the Harrison Barnes' bandwagon.

Athletically, yes, Barnes is solid, but his movement looks stiff to me. Ball handling is erratic, and he doesn't attack the basket as much as you would like for a star wing player. He relies alot on jumpshots to get his points, and doesn't have much array of moves to score. Not multi-dimensional as a scorer, as I would put it.

Quincy Miller doesn't have elite athleticism as well, probably up to par with Barnes, but Miller is longer and has a ton of offensive skill-set for a guy 6'9-6'10. You can just see just how multi-dimensional he is as a scorer, he will hurt you on the perimeter or take you off the dribble with ease. I won't call him Kevin Durant just yet because his jumpshot isnt near as deadly, but I see an aggressive, more offensive minded Lamar Odom in Miller, just on skill-set comparison.

Luol Deng wasn't a bad

Luol Deng wasn't a bad initial compariosn. But if his game can continue to expand and grow with time, as it should, I agree with the comp that JNix has thrown out there a couple a times of Joe Johnson. He has that kind of potential as far as go to scorer. If not though, and his creativity possibly doesn't grow much, Luol Deng may not be too far off. College is completely diff from the pros.

Pretty much just forced his way into the basket, and didnt show me any of the ball handling like the other guy (messeee) mentioned. Looks like a LeBron move to me. Unless he shows me he can create his own basket, I will hold off on labeling him a potential NBA star. And the Joe Johnson comparison I find odd. Body type wise, they are similar, but Johnson has some PG skills, and Barnes has none, but he is a smart player I give him that.

I don't think he's the best

I don't think he's the best prospect for next year's draft. I think he's a good shooter, not a great one, and he wasn't very efficient last year. Doesn't really have ISO abilty (mediocre handles and average 1st step), and he stettles for the mid-range pull-up too much. I think he'll be a good player in the NBA, but no superstar. I think he's a Luol Deng type player, which isn't bad at all, but I wouldn't take him above all the other potential superstars in next year's draft.

Im shocked no one has

Im shocked no one has mentioned that Harrison isnt your typical college player. He actually wants a college degree, despite where he is projected in the draft. I know most people will thinm Im crazy but I see him staying 3 years, regardless if UNC wins. I hope they do, since I am a true UNC fan. Harrison has been qouted as saying he loves college and wants to cherish his time there. no need to rush, the NBA will always be there, hopefully haha

I don't see how him "loving

I don't see how him "loving college" has anything to do with his potential as an NBA player. We all know he's a good kid, that's not the issue, the question is does he really have NBA star potential and does he have the skills and talent to be worthy of #1 pick, my answer to that would be, no.

in KD camp he measured 6'8.5 and 223 so it's really possible he will be 6'9 230 by the next year's draft..it makes him even more scary

Barnes will be a solid pro

Barnes will be a solid pro but not a 25ppg Superstar. He might get 17-20 and be on the verge of a couple of all-star teams.

He does have a slow first step and isn't super athletic.

Half way through last season 80% of ppl on here were calling him a bust, now everyone is back on the bandwagon again...

here comes the negative points again....

based on style, skills set,

based on style, skills set, talent, body and athletic ability he remind Paul Pierce, i don't know if he has the same confident, toughness and assertiveness to become the truth, so if not he will be like Wilson Chandler at worst.

first off he is not an

first off he is not an average athlete, he isnt elite but he is in between the 2. I think he is a mix of Joe Johnson and Luol Deng. I think he can be the defender and rebounder that Deng is and won't make too many plays for others. I think he is similar to joe johnson in that he will get his points in the same way as JJ. Decent 3point shooter with a very good midrange game and the ability to use head fakes and hesitations to get to the rim at times. i could see Barnes as a 20ppg, 7rpg, and 2 to 3apg game guy with a block and steal per game. He will be a very good player.

To the point of this topic, i think Barnes could be a number 1 pick but i don't know if he can in next years draft. There are many "potential" guys that may go ahead of him. I think he is a top 5 lock tho. I think if the Clips got the top pick they could afford to take Barnes but other than that, I don't know.

Now to Anthony Davis, i have only seen him in 2 all star games and youtube videos but i don't see the great guard skills. He has mediocre guard skills. I think he may be skinnier than Durant and he has ok athleticism(he is more long than anything). I just dont see it with him.

Why should they when they are

Why should they when they are producing millions?..I don't fault them beause thats their trade just like If you are negotiating for you're salary and benifits at you're job while a homeless guy is willing to take half of what you make without so much as a peep.

As far as Harrison not being you're typical college player thats not true, many players have done what he did and if he was so sure about coming back he would have said that from day one. He wouldn't have had to sit and take days and weeks to think about it. The one's who truely wanna stay don't take that long like Sullinger and Duncan. If Zeller, Henson would have left he would have been gone as well. He came back because they came back and he knew the team could be a title contender

And the fact that his first

And the fact that his first step isn't that good and he rely's on his jumper so much yet he still does what he does tells you just how good he is and can be. There are players who have quicker first steps and don't rely on their jumper yet they stil don't produce like him.

Not saying he's a lock for the number one pick (i think its gonna be a toss up from a couple of players ad depending on who gets the first pick)

Barnes

I think he could surprise some people on here. He was only a freshman last year, so he has a lot of room to improve. If he continues shooting as well as he did after Marshall became the starter and improves his handles he could be a bona fide first pick. He has a very complete game and his jump shot has serious potential, given that he is 6'8" and has a high release. I think his slashing ability looks worse than it really is because he plays sf in college, unlike many players his height, and neither of his team's big men are floor spacers. In the NBA, I think his slashing ability will look better. I am not saying he is going to blow people away athletically, but his mid range game will keep defenders honest and he could be an excellent finisher if he works on his runner.

I don't think that Barnes has to be a Kobe-esque iso threat to be the first pick. He looks like he could be effective coming off screens, spotting up, attacking in transition, and adding an effective post game seems very possible. I don't see anything wrong with a team taking him first because he seems a safe bet to be an effective scorer in the NBA who also plays good defense.

Not sure about his slashing

Not sure about his slashing ability looking better in the NBA since the SF's there are faster and know how to defend better. I think thats something he is gonna have to work out(i have no doubt he's already working on it).

The first pick is up in the air IMO and that's how it always is when there isn't a clear cut dominate player head and shoulders above the rest( like a Shaq or a Duncan type). With a talent pool this deep there could be a number of players that might end up going number one. This year it will probably be a mix of how good a team does, workouts and individual battles
