cprizz15ParticipantThere is now way I’m taking this guy in the first round. He’s a player a reached his peak last year and has no room to grow as a player. I would definitely take a player like Jeff Pendegraph or Terrence Williams in a second.

canesboy6Participantnot saying it was a good contract or anything, but coaches like guys like him. He isn’t the most athletically challenged player by any means, and only a stat watching hater would say he peaked last year. Look at his jumpshot. He now gets it off quickly with unbelievable accuracy, all the way out to near the 3. He is even hitting the few threes he has taken at a very good clip. If you watch him play you see improvement. He has been unbelievably productive because he is very good, not just becasue he hustles. Hustle doesnt score the most points in ACC history. It is really easy to hate on the guy, because he is white and goofy and beats the crap out of your team for 4 years, but I cant bet against him. He isnt a star, but nobody says he is a lottery guy. He is a late first rounder that will bang, fight, play tough defense, pick, shoot, and do whatever is neccesary for him to win and make it in the league. He is twice the player, 100 times the heart, and a better athlete than Madsen, so other than bieng the same color I hate that comparison. I don’t see any reason why he can’t be a similar player to Udonis Haslem, who isn’t any more athletic or bigger. Id say that would be a great value late first for a winner.

cprizz15ParticipantMark Madsen had a lot of heart too (great career, right?).. his weak little floaters he throws over his shoulder isn’t gonna fly in the nba.. and he’s also not gonna go to the like 12 times a game like he does now.. he’s gonna be a decent nba player but there’s a handful of guys i’m taking ahead of him that this website doesnt have.

stillmatic23bParticipantcardinal can shoot the 3, and just b/c the grizzlies gave him that retarded money doesn’t mean its justified or should be used to quantify the values of others. production in college is one thing but it’s how he gets his numbers. he throws himself into people and that over the shoulder shot put isn’t going to work in the nba. let’s see how much heart he has when he’s playing 10 minutes per game too, don’t underestimate how that can hurt his spirits.
haslem comparison isn’t bad, madsen comparison always seemed too low

billykParticipanthaslem comparison is terrible. haslem was the starting pf for an nba championship team

canesboy6Participantya, way old. But I dont see how the haslem comparison is terrible. Thats not a reason, thats a fact. He played ok d, got some rebounds and hit his open looks. What im saying is that is good enough for a role powerforward on an nba team, on a championship team in haslems case. Althought he didnt do it alone, haha Wade was decent in that finals if i recall..I wasnt saying Brian Cardinals contract is smart or that any way makes hansbrough good, my point was that there is value in the nba for blue collar guys, and I think hansbrough is more talented than some of them in the nba now are.

Jizzle74it has nothing to do with hansborough being white or goofy. He is jus not skilled enough to be a start in the nba. He travels more than anybody i have seen in the nba(and thats really saying something because players in the nba travel almost every other play) and the turn around no arm extending shots that he throws up in college will get beat back down in his face in the nba going against players that are bigger and jus as strong as he is. No offense to anyone of the caucasian race but in this day and age most white players dont fit the star role( im not trying to turn this into a race thing) Most are jus not mentally tough enough. Im not saying that their not mentally tough jus not mentally tough compared to a stockton or bird who back in the day would eat these other white kids alive not even on the court in the game of basketball but jus mentally. They would destroy them even before the game begins!

billykParticipantI disagree. I dont think it has anything about mental toughness. I think players in the NBA are just fast and athletic especially with the hand check rule change. There just arent an abudance of white players for some reason dont come as athletic as black players (maybe its genetics I dont know)

Jizzle74Yea u are right about the athletic part it is built into genetics but there are plenty of athletic white players too. i have white friends that are more athletic than me and i am very i athletic. The hand check rule would actually make it easier for less athletic players to succeed because they would be able draw fouls and score without being hounded and not even able to get by their defender. They were no hand check rules back in the days and larry bird was one of the least athletic stars ever but basketball smarts and mental toughness gave him the ability to hit shots with athletic defenders draped over him. Mental toughness gave him the will power to get past bigger stronger and more athletic players. The refs couldnt bail him out because of a hand check rule. He would get knocked and hacked and beat down and he would still score. reason? Mental toughness! he was one of the toughest players. Think about it now a days these players would have no chance in the nba without the refs bailing them out. After a few hard fouls they would lose their minds. They are not mentally tough enough! Bird was and its the reason why he was one of the greatest along with stockton.

billykParticipantI guess. But to say its a race issue doesnt make sense

errolt12as a die hard duke fan i hate north carolina and all their players. But as someone who plays basketball and understands hoops i have 2 be honest about hansbrough. I hate the kid but he wins games and gets the job done. Yea he may flop or get a lot of weak calls but he gets it done. the shots that look weird that he takes they go in. I think hansbrough would be a ok role player in the NBA. I think he could be drafted from the late 1st round through the 2nd round.
