Just wanted to see what guys you still think, despite a slow start in their career, guys who still will be a good player soon in this league. Here’s a few I can think of at the top of my head. Try to keep it to guys who aren’t coming into their 2nd year.

    1. Archie Goodwin, I’m very bias cause he’s from Kentucky, but I still think once he’s on a team that has a less crowded back court, he will get the most out of his opportunity. He is a pretty electric player who with a more tamed game I really think he can get his game to translate in the NBA. He’s a crafty finisher, very explosive and quick, and has a motor. Wings who I feel like have some of the same physical tools, like a Jimmy Butler and Lance Stephenson, came in their third year got the playing time and chances, and then year after that played at a very high level. I would think Archie’s chance is coming up. Granted he did come to the league very young, so the PT might come in next year and then playing at a high level two years from now.

    2. Derrick Williams. I think he has just been on the wrong teams his whole career. Shockingly New York might finally be this guy’s right spot. I see him being a big contributor, especially with him and Melo being interchangeable at the 3 and 4, and Derrick has always had a knack for sizing guys much slower than him and getting a bucket. I like him in the triangle too.

One year guys under the radar: K.J. McDaniels. Gary Harris. (No Nurkic is not under the radar everyone here knows he’s a future beast)

‘Lapdance’ was a previous top 3 prospect due to his athleticism and all-around game.

Calling Kobe a rapist is probably a bad way to start things off

As long as JoJo Embiid doesn’t get Kunta Kinte’d, I’ll continue to believe like McDunkin waiting for a VM from Cynthia on Vine.

I remember him when he played in the playoffs his first year and he started at PF cause Lee got injured. He really flourished in that role, but Draymond is a hand and glove fit at the 4 with the Warriors.

I still believe in Austin Rivers, I have never believed in him being a superstar, but I still feel he can have a Jamal Crawford type career. A solid player who belongs on the team, and belongs to play, it’s for the coach to decide if that is a starter or bench player. I believe he can get buckets. The game has been and always will be about buckets. lol

His first step is amazing, he’s not bad off of the catch, if his playoff attacking the basket continues he is a valuable player, a downhill guard, also he is still working on the midrange if he gets it, he can score at all three levels and he is still a good defender.

Dude, Rivers first step is mediocre at best. If you were to watch Rivers dribble in an instructional video, you’d think "man, that guy can really handle the ball". Then when you watch him in an actual game you say "wow, that guy dribbles in place a lot but can’t get anywhere." His main problem is he thinks he’s way better than he is. In his mind, he’s an opportunity away from being Kobe. In reality, he’s proven time and again that he’s a homeless man’s Jamal Crawford.

Will Barton. He’s one of my favourite players of all-time. He has that old school flare that makes the game fun. He’s finally carved out a role with Denver and I think the sky’s the limit for him.

Shabazz Muhammad. In HS I didn’t thought he was overrated but after his freshman year he became underrated and he still is. He won’t have a featured role in Minnesota yet I believe he is ready for one.

Meyers Leonard. He has an incredible build for an NBA build with his athletic ability and skill. There’s four guys fighting for positions on Portland that could be added to this list and he tops them all. Ed Davis, Noah Vonleh, and Mason Plumlee should keep each other honest and working hard.

I like both of your picks. Shabazz seemed to be very focused coming into this preseason and I saw a picture of him topless and I have absolutely no doubt he is in excellent shape now. I expect him and Zach to bring a lot of firepower on the wings/backcourt to compliment to Rickys offensive shortcomings. I really see Shabazz beeing one of the best scorers coming from the bench.

Speaking of Rubio I think this year should tell is all what to finally expect from him going forward. With Wiggins, Martin, Towns, Shabazz, LaVine guys to lob the ball to like Payne and especially Dieng his doesn’t need to score at all which might actually result in way better field goal percentages. We’ll see if he finally can carve this out but the roster should compliment him really well.

Leonard is one of my picks for an unexpected mini breakout season. He shot the ball extremely well from 3 in the 2nd half of last season and keeps on doing this of the preseason is any indication. He was always labeled as a rrs athletic but kind of unskilled big man but I had really no idea he has build a shot like that and it doesn’t seem to be a fluke to be. Davis and especially Vonleh are also guys who I think are nowhere close to have a defined role yet. No one is expecting anything out of this blazers squad but they might surprise some people this year. Not sure what to expect from McCollum though. I’m still a believer and thinks he can become something like the Pistons version of Rodney Stuckey.

I grew up watching him play all throughout high school as his team was a dynasty here in Minnesota so I’ve been a fan of his for quite some time. But when he finally got to play (after being kicked off the gophers for stealing a laptop in the dorms and trying to shoplift at MOA) he balled out!

I hate to call someone a bust when they haven’t gotten a real chance out on the court.. But that’s just how it is!

It’s just a shame that he couldn’t get it all together.. The dude is beast that’s trapped in cage by his anxiety with flying..

Yea. Tons of potential but sadly i kind of doubt he’ll ever play in the NBA. He has the talent but just not the mindset to be a solid NBA player, and he is not good enough that a team would be willing to accommodate him or work around his issues.

He averaged 17 but he still turns the ball over too much, shoots poorly, and his defense should be better. He should be easily beating out Isaiah Canaan and Kendall Marshall for the starting point guard job but he hasn’t done it yet, unfortunately.

but he went out for the year w/ an ACL before they traded MCW… I don’t believe he’s had the opportunity to compete against Marshal or Canaan – still I don’t see Wroten as a PG, maybe instant offense off the bench… I agree that he should be able to beat out Isaiah Canaan though – for Any job, Caanan is a sub 6’0” shoot first gunner…

People might think I’m crazy but I’m not ready to be completely throw in the towel on Mike Beasley. I doubt he’ll ever be a superstar or live up to his draft expectations (that ship has sailed). However, he is still young and talented enough to salvage at least a decent career as a mismatch type of player who can provide decent scoring punch off the bench, ala Tim Thomas if he can show some maturity and a willingness to work hard.

don’t understand how Tristan Thompson is demanding a max while Mbakwe has to work his way through Europe! Trevor just signed a 3 year deal to be a top player for a top team in the Euroleague (Maccabi Tel Aviv). I have no idea if he has a buyout in his contract, but he should be in the NBA. Like Thompson he has a high motor, rebounds plus, and defends well against 4’s and 5’s. I’m not sure he’s not better offensively either. Just crazy that he hasn’t been given a chance yet. When his deal is up he’ll be 29 and I can’t imagine there won’t be multiple teams after him.

Bennett If he only can play 36 minutes I think he can be an effective stretch 4.

Evan Turner, I think the only thing that stopping him from being a go to guy is his Jump shot.

Alec Burks, I still believe he could average 17 ppg on a regular basis, an attacker, slasher.

Part of me is still waiting on JR Smith to be the top offensive 2-guard in the game. His range, his handle, his ability to jump off of either foot and/or both feet planted, 1st step… He’s literally got an unmatched offensive package out there. Too bad he cares way more about trolling strip clubs than playing ball, ’cause he could’ve been a multiple time All-Star.

His range, his handle, his ability to jump off of either foot and/or both feet planted, 1st step… He’s literally got an unmatched offensive package out there. Too bad he cares way more about trolling strip clubs than playing ball, ’cause he could’ve been a multiple time All-Star.

I will ride the jimmer train until he gets a fair chance.  He can be a solid 15-20 min off the bench guy.  This guy couldn’t even be stopped by Leonard in college.  He just needs a coach that will show confidence in him.

I still believe MCW will prove to be a decent starting PG in the league.  Seems a ton of people disagree with that though.

I’m kind of biased as a Jazz fan, but I still believe Trey Burke can lead this young team at the PG. Yes Exum looked like the better player last season but both guys are still really young with a lot of untapped potential/talent. Exum’s injury opens the door up for Burke to show the team and the league why Utah gave up 2 first rounders to trade up to the top 10 for him. I’ve read interviews from Trey and he sounds confident. Plus he’s got 3 studs in Gobert, Hayward & Favors in the lineup who teams will plan for more. If he can become a more consistent shooter and/or improve his passing game I see him working out with the Jazz. Then when Exum comes back Snyder can find a way to insert them both into the starting 5, maybe with Exum at the 2. Otherwise Trey could be a solid backup for Exum.

Also interested to see how Meyers Leonard performs. Aldridge bolting for San Antonio opens up more PT for Leonard. He wasn’t physically ready to play the 5 when he came out in 2012 but 3 years later with the potential to replace Aldridge I think he will find a spot on the Blazers.

I’m not sure if he counts but I’m going to go with Brandon Jennings.  Even with Reggie being in Det I still think he can be a starting caliber PG he was playing some of the best ball of his career before he got injured I’ve always like the fact that he was a gym rat with couple years under his belt and coming off injury it’s going to be interesting to see how he pans out…
