The Grizzlies have sent G Ben McLemore back to the Kings with F/C Deyonta Davis and cash considerations in exchange for G/F Garrett Temple (per Woj).

McLemore has been a wild disappointment since being drafted by the Kings back in 2013, and Deyonta Davis has not found his footing yet in the league either, and was clearly outplayed by fellow Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr. in Summer League action.

Thoughts on this trade for both sides?

Just to sit back and think that he was supposed to be the rival to Bradley Beal.

In full disclosure I thought he’d be better than Beal. Some dude’s just don’t have the drive once they start cashing those NBA checks.

Portland sure could use one with a high motor.

I like the move for the Grizzlies. Garrett Temple is solid and will likely make a good reserve. I’m surprised they dealt Davis, but after drafting Jackson there aren’t likely to be many minutes for him.

Sacramento also got a future second round pick in the deal, albeit in 2021, and save about 1 million in cap space for this season, although it’s unclear what they could do with it at this point. Maybe they are planning to throw a big offer at someone like Capela just so Houston would have to match or they could be targeting someone like Marcus smart. Who really knows what the kings are thinking at this point? They basically just traded a useful player on an expiring deal for 2 guys who probably don’t figure to be in the rotation next season.

Vlade could just be doing Temple a solid.

They Must not be high on Hield considering they offered Lavine a contract and traded for McLemore?

Davis has some great tools, very underachiever as a player, could have been just like Capela but the guy has no drive and motor…

Sounds like a trade that makes about as much difference as exchanging ball boys. Ben McLemore is about to sleepwalk his way out of the league.

To be fair to Sacramento, I don’t think they had minutes for Temple, they got a draft pick and saved a million bucks. A mil is a mil. I think both McLemore and Davis can contribute at practice, that’s about it. The Griz could use Temple, so it’s a win win. A bit of a blah trade though, would like to see some real moves, like someone pull the trigger on a Kawhi deal..

Grizz get a player to help next year, Kings get more assets. Davis had a 16.6 per last year in limited minutes at age 21. McLemore seems like Gerald Green, he can play but needs to hit rock bottom first. Maybe some time in Europe would help him.

     They did Temple a solid.

They got a temp sub for Ben M while Bogdan is recovering.

    and

The saved cap room+ got a future asset which either signals another move is going to be made either via trade or Free agency..

But personally I wouldn’t have minded having Ben M on the Thunder as a nice 3 and D SG who could run with Russ on the fast break. But will be interesting to see if they either buy both of Davis and Ben M out or if they keep them…

Kings get two players who are identified best by not having IT. Don’t know what they’re doing because Temple is a solid locker room guy and the young players seem to love him.

I think your right and that is why he was traded, no motor,  Can’t believe SAC wanted him,  Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets released. If I rememberright Memphis included 1.5 or more in cash as part of the deal and I would expect to see him waived.
