I was born in 1988 so i never got to really see Larry Bird and other big men play. Ive only seen the highlights and ive always heard he was the greatest shooter. But i will be honest with you and say that Dirk is the greatest big man shooter i have ever seen. Being 7 foot and shooting the way he does i dont think there is any spot on the floor he doesnt own. And that fadeaway is deadly. Like i said ive only heard of bird but i think too many people in my generation say larry bird is the best becuz of what they hear from older people. Not taking anyway away from bird but i think a lot of what people do is listen to what people say and say the same thing. But yea who do yall think is the greatest big shooter of all time?

Most Made: Clifford Robinson has the most 3’s made by a big (pf or c) but if Dirk hits about 100 more he passes him

Best Percentage: Matt Bonner about 42%

    Most Attempted: Cliff Robinson

Karl Malone was automatic from mid range, best mid-range game from a post player I’ve ever seen(grandfather of the pick and pop). Did’nt really have a 3 pointer though in game, probably did althought it wasn’t utilized in games.

    I vote Karl Malone

Dirk sprang to mind when I first read the topic header, Larry Bird was maybe more of an SF in my mind but was certainly one of the greatest shooters ever regardless of position.

dirk is a better shooter then kevin love, dirk his really tough shots that are really well contested while kevin love usually hits open 3s or barely contested mid range shots. no disrespect to kevin love i mean no one expected him to be such a good shooter, but dirk is in another level

Karl Malone was a good mid-range shooter, but he did not draw the defense out as much as Nowitzki does. No PF/C has ever been as dangerous as Dirk, for as long as Dirk has been. Not to mention, the guy is like a 90% FT shooter. Sure, he has had his moments in clutch situations, but he has also come up big. So difficult to stop, there have been more prolific big man scorers, but none as deadly from long range unless you count Larry Legend. To me, Bird is the best shooter in NBA history, but he defied position and I usually just call him an SF. As a PF/C, Dirk is the best shooter I can think of. Malone was a better scorer in his prime, but was never close to Dirk as a shooter.

I would say Bird but to me he was more of a sf and not as much of a big man, so id go with Dirk easy. Watch out for Bargnani though, some days his jumper seems impossible not to go in.

dirk no question to me cuz of his range and also the fact that he creates his own shot a lot of the time and hit difficult shots…. malone had a great mid range game but it was mojority pick and pop…. but since i’m from Toronto shout out to bargnani…. he got a sweet jumper for a big man and hit difficult shots all the time… just not as consistant as dirk though
