Utah has played like 12 players. I think they’re taking a look at everybody on their roster.

I don’t think he’s played well, but he hasn’t played bad. He hasn’t done anything really. He took George off the dribble to start the game, but the refs missed a goaltend on Rolle. He had an aggressive drive to the basket and made two free-throws.

He really hasn’t done much. Nobody on the Jazz has. Pacers are a little too athletic for them.

He is the kind of player that is going to complement Williams and feed off of him.. He needs to be part of a system to truly be a good basketball player in the NBA.. When he gets with Williams and has open looks and the ability to create for himself and others, he is gonna be a pretty solid player.

I’ve seen Hayward put the ball on the floor against very good competition… It’s upsetting that he’s not doing more of that. He could be doing more right now, but he looks a little unsure. He’s being TOO much of a system player right now.

He needs to be more confident.

For what it is worth, every team approaches the summer league differently. Some teams simply try to showcase their picks and young players to see what they have in them. Others try to install bits of what it is that they do on offense and defense to see who responds to it so they know whether someone is possibly worth bringing to camp. Wesley Matthews shot the ball horribly as an undrafted rookie last year for Utah in Orlando and got a training camp invite. Utah has long been a team that operates with little regard to whether a player was a first rounder, second rounder, or undrafted. Morris Almond never played. Koufos never plays. Maynor and Brewer was sold off for tax savings. I think the Jazz are just as interested in knowing whether James Augustine or Thomas Gardner are worth bringing to camp as they are in getting shots for Hayward.

He’s not going to play very much next year I don’t think, but he will figure into the rotation consistently and play quality minutes in 2011. He’s a little too unaggressive and he doesn’t have a true niche right now as a player. And he also needs to get/play stronger. I do think he fights though. He’s too feisty to be a bust.

Based on the roster as of right now, the minutes are there for him next season. I think he’ll work himself into the rotation.

I think his not playing will have more to do with Kirilenko and C.J. Miles being at the same position. I just don’t see how he will get many minutes at the 3. If he is going to play it is going to have to be a the 2, and I am not sure he’ll have much success there. If you remember, Adam Morrison played the 2 as a rookie, and those who guarded him were too athletic for him to find space.

With Boozer signing with the Bulls, you don’t think Kirilenko will play a lot at backup power forward?

There won’t be a ton, but there should be some minutes for him at the 2 and 3.

We’ll scoot AK down to the 4 when Millsap is out. Plus Korver is most likely signing elsewhere.

There is more than enough minutes for Hayward.

I look at Miles as a player who can backup Matthews at the two or Kirilenko at the three.

IF Sloan wants to put Hayward in the rotation, I think there’s 10-15 minutes available… Maybe more. I’m not about to do the math.

despite what i said about him earlier being a bust. I never believe that but i still stand by this, he will be a role player but somehow he was worthy of a top 10 pick but a lot of thing went wrong in this draft so I can’t blame Utah. Lance went 40 pick. I dont know how all these Gm’s screwed that up. His attitude could have caused him late 1st if he even has one but not 2nd round.

I think Kirilenko will get more minutes at the 4, but we have basically seen the Jazz without Boozer already. They have played games with Boozer or Okur. Sloan increases Millsap’s minutes and Kirilenko gets more minutes at the 4. Without Boozer, Millsap will get close to 40 minutes per. Kirilenko goes from playing mid-upper 20s to mid-30s. I think the guy who will get the big bump is C.J. Miles. He really came on in the playoffs and at 23 is the same age as some rookies. I don’t think he is going to be a bit playing 20 minute guy anymore. I think that if there are going to be minutes for Hayward, they’ll be at the 2. I have doubts about him having success there.
