Spurs one win away from Tmac’s highly anticipated Finals appearance. What a thing of beauty is this Spurs offense is! After being down by 16+ in the first quarter, Spurs won in overtime. Ball movement and passing is superb. Their defense on Zach Randolph has been amazing. A thing to note from JVG, Duncan only touched the ball for an isolation at the low post for less than 3 times.

I’m not gonna lie. I was a bit pessimistic about us winning tonight. I felt the Grizzlies would play with more a chip since being down 2-0 and getting back home. But we prevailed after the Grizzlies’ strong start to the game. Bonner and Splitter defended the paint quite well and TP and Ginobili showed up when we needed them most. Now that we’re 3-0, the promise land is 1 game away.

For the Grizzlies, being swept is not the worst thing in the world. Their big men get constantly double teamed because they only have one reliable 3pt shooter to spread the floor (Bayless). I think they can pick up a little 3pt shooting in the draft and FA period and come back stronger next season.

Bayless? I think you mean Pondexter.

      Bayless – 30% 3p Postseason
      Pondexter – 43% 3p Postseason

I forgot about Pondexter. Bayless is a solid 3pt shooter. Just because his shot isn’t falling now doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be respected. The point is… San Antonio double-teams because they don’t respect Memphis’ 3pt shooting.

Those Clowns got rid of their 3 most reliable perimeter scorers. Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, and Wayne Ellington…
I know its worked out good so far, but at the end of the night, you gotta have a guy on the roster that makes the defense reluctant to double team your bigs.

I was at the game. Rough night. The Spurs are just better and played better.

Hopefully we can win game four. I would hate to be swept.

They should take this as a learning experience and reload in the offseason..they need a 3 and D guy at their starting small forward position. Prince is a good defender but the Spurs aren’t respecting his shot at all which makes it hard to make entry passes into the post.

They should try and sign either Corey Brewer or Matt Barnes in free agency. These guys would fit in perfectly into their starting lineup since they’re tough defenders who can shoot the 3-ball very well. The Grizzlies just can’t afford to have 2 wings (Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince) who can’t shoot well from distance.

As much as I like the Grizzlies they just aren’t anything spectacular. They’re above average but not great.

People seem to have the false idea they’re legit contenders, but what they really are is lucky. They can beat down injured teams but not healthy ones:

2011 Playoffs First Round – The Grizzlies were one of the rare 8th seeds to beat a 1st seed(Spurs). The Spurs had a plethora of injuries, Ginobili being the worst with a broken arm. People called the Spurs old and done back then, well look at them now, makes a difference when a team is healthy right?

2011 Playoffs Second Round – Grizzlies fought hard and respectable but just wasn’t good enough to handle the Thunder, a healthy Thunder I might add.

2012 Playoffs First Round – The Grizzlies lost to the Clippers, the Clippers were on the rise, and most of all they were healthy which proved too much for the Grizzlies who had high expectations after beating the Spurs in the previous playoffs.

2013 Playoffs First Round – The Grizzlies beat the Clippers this time around, everyone jumped and raved like the Grizzlies made progression since they lost the year before to them, but the fact of the matter is they beat the Clippers with an injured Blake Griffin and a partially injured Chris Paul(bruised thumb).

2013 Playoffs Second Round – Grizzlies & Thunder meet again, but this time the Thunder were without Westbrook. The Grizzlies yet again took advantage and beat an injured team.

2013 Playoffs Third Round – Now they currently face the Spurs again, but this time around the Spurs are healthy and thus the Grizzlies are being dominated.

I’m sure by now you can notice the very obvious pattern. The Grizzlies have played the Clippers, Thunder, & Spurs all twice within the last 3 Playoffs.

    Grizzlies vs. injured Clippers/Spurs/Thunder = 3-0
Grizzlies vs. healthy Clippers/Spurs/Thunder = 0-3 (Spurs series is still currently going on, but I think it’s a lock)

In summary, I’m not saying the Grizzlies are bad, they’re pretty good. But they have a lot they need to improve on to be legit contenders. They’re being way overrated.

It is not just the job the Spurs have done Randolph and Gasol to shoot such low percentages, but they are forcing the perimeter players on Memphis to try to beat them. They are helping wonderfully without fouling, and it is forcing guys like Conley, Bayless, Pondexter, Prince, and Allen to beat them, and they have not been able. The only guy of the bunch who is making the shots the Spurs are giving is Pondexter, but it is clear that he is not going to beat them. The Grizzlies are averaging 21.3 free throws per game in the Spurs series after taking 28.4 per against OKC and 34.3 against the Clippers. The fact that they are shooting only 65.6 percent from the line only adds to the pain. Who would have guessed that the Spurs would go into Memphis and outscore the Grizzlies by 16 in the paint and by 6 at the line? San Antonio turned a bang, bump, and grind team into one that has to take jump shots and crowded shots in the paint. I understand that media, and ESPN in particular, doesn’t like San Antonio because they don’t offer up the empty calorie storylines to fill space and time, but they play masterful basketball and execute at such a remarkable level.

Tayshaun Prince looks terrible in this series on offense..And he’s not offering much defensively,Leonard and Green are wearing him out…Prince is averaging only 5 pts/2rbs/1asts/42%fg….

The Spurs length is bothering Z Bo….And on defense Duncan is shooting right over him…..The Spurs are showing NO RESPECT toward Memphis perimeter players….And they’re letting Parker score and dish out assists, they cant let him do both…

The Spurs aren’t any longer than OKC or the Clippers, but they have a plan. The guy guarding him forces him right and plays the spin back left and trusts the help to guard against him staying right.

That was some game, the Conf. Finals outside of 1 game have been great.

Gotta love how the Spurs don’t panic and they had this game won in regulation if Ginobili or Green didn’t miss open 3s the last 2 mins. I really thought they should’ve gone to Duncan in crunch time in the post in the 4th qtr. Parker seemed to have tired a lil and the others weren’t getting it done.

Both teams kind of struggled offensively in some of the 4th qtr. Memphis was lacking another scorer Rudy Gay was missed and their weak free throw shooting hurt them a lot. Conley carried the load in the 4th qtr making all but 2 of their field goals.

One more ring for Duncan to catch Kobe — then we can debate who’s greater. But that would also mean LeBron is stuck on one ring — ouch.

I would say Duncan is a little greater then Kobe. Don’t forget about Kobe’s 3rd ring filled with controversy because of the refs giving the Lakers so many calls esp. in Game 6 against the Kings.

As for Lebron he’s never played with geat bigs like Shaq, Gasol, Bynum or clutch players like Horry, Fisher or a great coach like Phil Jackson. Since he’s played with stars Wade and Bosh he’s gone deep in the playoffs every year. Now that he’s more clutch and his game has no holes its hard to knock him for not having more rings if he doesn’t win one this yr.

Duncan has played with a great PG for a while now, borderline great SG, All NBA defender in Bruce Bowen for a while and a great coach his whole career.

The rings argument is a little overrated look at Dirk, Kidd they are both HOF players and have just1 ring.
List of all time great players that don’t have rings is pretty long.
