Is Gonzaga the most underrated team? They lack point guard play but if Sacre put in work on shot blocking, defensive rebounding and more back to the basket game (he had good moves last year) there post play would be tremendous. Harris slashing to the basket and hitting the mid-three range mark would open it up for Sacre. Do you remember the player who matched Stephen Curry everytime down the court a few years ago, his name was Steven Gray and he is back for his senior year. He lacks killer instincts but is a great off the screen shotter, strong rebounder, and good passer. He will look to play more point guard this year. I think they have a strong chance to do well this year

Gonzaga hasn’t been a vastly underrated team in about 10 years.  They are a major basketball school now,  the last time they won under 23 games was 1998 and they will be expected to win their conference championship and win about 25 games this season.  I don’t think you can call a team like that the most underrated team, they’ll make the tourney and if they may win a few games.  I think the most underrated teams are the ones that don’t crack the top 25 all year and end up in the sweet 16 or elite 8.  I just feel Gonzaga is too much of a basketball now school to be called vastly underrated.

Gonzaga is a likely top 15-20 team. No, they are not underrated. They probably will be a 2-and-out or Sweet 16 team next year.

A friend of mine goes there and says Gray smokes too much pot to ever make it as a basketball player. He seems to have the talent, just not the drive to be better. Olenek (sp?) played for the Canadian national team this season which will only help his development, same can be said for Harris. The team has potential, just doesn’t seem to live up to it.

Olynek has nice long term potential. He’s 6’10 and can play on the wing, and he shows a nice jump shot.

I agree that saying the zags are underrated now is not true to a certain degree but it kind of seems that way because the wcc isn’t all that great even though saint marys has finally created a obstacle for zaga to get the title but overall the conference is mid level, as for their players mark few recruits top notch canadians and he’ll land his top 100 players here and there so they will always be competitive but I dont see them being elite especially with uw and the pac 10 winning a lot of recruiting battles against few but gonzaga will always be my favorite program they remind me of a west coast duke the way the program is ran. oh yea and watch out for bol kong to have a breakout season and for the person who said we lack PG play watch out for demetri goodson and Gj villarino this year!

You gotta get your facts straight man. Zags will be good this year, but Bol Kong was deported and GJ transferred.

Look for Marquise Carter to start at point guard- he was an all american junior college player last year. If Gray can step up and take the lead role with Elias we could make some noise in the tourney. Sacre will be a force down low and Olynk has worked hard on his game over the summer and is looking solid. Can’t wait for the season to start

Ol@smoking too much pot to make it as a basketball player. If that was the case the NBA teams would be cut in half. As well as euro teams

In some ways they’re still an underrated team..Some publications have them as high as 15 and as low as 19..But if a school like Georgia Tech or St. John were returning with the current roster and an experienced coach like Gonzaga have, everyone would have them in the top 5..Gonzaga have been so successful the past few years ,they don’t surprise anyone

I looked at their roster and one thing i didnt notice is that they added two players that had some nice games in international play.

Mathis Keita of France and Mathis Monninghof of Germany.

i dont know much about them but, Monninghof is a 6’7 2/3 that has a game similar to Micah Downs, and Keita is an athletic 6’6 pg/sg/sf who is better at D and passing than he is scoring.

it sounds like in time these two should be able to replace Kongs numbers.
