bigblackNbeautifulParticipantHey I know you guys hate, and I mean HATE utah topics(yes I mean you Minus me now) Give this a shot I did my research with this one.
Utah trades AK and his 16,452,000 that expires after next year.
for
GS – Andris Biendrins(9,000,000 4 years) and Ronny Turiaf (4,140,000 one year)
For Golden State you give up 2 mil this year to gain 14 mil next year. And since GS by no means is in contention for next years title(No disrespect GS fans) it makes sense. Besides doesnt it seem They dont want Biendrins and his 4 year deal cause of its affect on the cap?? As a utah faithful I would be willing to throw one of our 2 first rounders in as a bargining chip to get this done.
For Utah this deal makes sense in a big way. Anybody who watched the playoffs last year now knows utah hasnt had a shot blocker since Mark Eaton (second all time behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in block shots, with 3.5 a game being his career average). Both Biendrins and Turiaf are 6’10 plus making them at least a pressence, and sorry booz loved ya but ya play defense as well as Justin Bieber sings. And believe me it aint good. Biendris more so than Turiaf is a true shot blocker averaging well over one a game when healthy. But that is rare. Which scares me. But hey booz and Okur health sucked and we surived so why not take a risk that could pay of. I mean he is 24, (that being the age of ekpe udoh at the beginning of the season as well. Turiaf would be a nice back up to milsap who if not F’ed up by Jazz management with a sign and trade for Lee will suprise people next year(remember without booz he averaged 15.5ppg on 56fgp and 9.5 rpg and he has gotten better since posting those numbers in 08-09) and even deron williams thinks Millsap can step into that role.
So what i am saying is dont kill our franchise by signing another small great offensive pf in lee(love him as a player just not on the Jazz) to a large deal. We already got one 10 mil a year type pfs in Millsap make him earn his dough and bring in some length to start creating some ciaos in the middle.
This line up is not flawless by any means but when everyone in the league is getting better I think we stay with the curve and maybe pass denver and the STAT less suns with it.
Williams/Gaines or Price(depending on what you need)
Matthews/Korver or another sg we sign
Miles/Hayward(this trade frees up pt for this kid to develop and any jazz fans not sold on this pick watch some of his interviews he was made for Sloan)
Milsap/Turiaf/Koufus
Biendris/Okur/FesYour thoughts I really wanna hear some GS fans opinions

llperezit would be a salary dump obviously for golden state. Really comes down to whether or not golden state considers biedrins and turriafs contracts as bad, not sure they do.
on a side note, if ak stayed healthy, he could really help that warrior team.

the27guyParticipantJazz fan here. I like Biedrins a lot, but his contract is really bad and by letting Andrei’s deal expire we gain lots of flexibility…. I’d prefer not spending that on a guy like Biedrins.. I’m pretty sure GS would love us to take that awful contract off their hands though.

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantI think AK would be really fun to watch in GS. I mean he is an athlete. and ya that is a good point I have just heard Biendris name being thrown around like he was on the block so thought maybe he is avilable.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantCould you imagine AK, playing Nellie ball? dude could average 15 points 10 rebounds, 5 assist, 5 blocks, 5 steals,
he would be perfect in GS!0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/01/2010 - 7:32pm #345365
butidonthavemoneyNo.
I hate Jazz topics.
I DESPISE "Let’s Trade AK-47" topics.
AK stays. You leave.

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantYa its not a pretty contract but the way I look at it the way players are getting over paid…. Its not to bad. take a look at the options we have with AK off the books in 11 at center. (
Tyson Chandler- prob ask for about what Biendris makes plus is 27
Nenad Kristic- Really good player but his time at GS has told me he is not a defensive power house.
ED Curry-hahahhaha ya right.
Leon Powe-…… I guess he is a solid back up/3rd string but isnt Koufus already that type of player
Dampier- Dallas will over pay him for what his 3rd time in his career
Dalember could be nice but is he skilled enough for our system
Gadzuric- worst contract than Biendris if you consider his play ( or lack there of)
Yao ming- Injures. Plus do we want to pay a max contract for him and his bagage of not being on the court?
Al Horford- Really a PF nice player dont see atlanta letting him run away. Also not a big body
Ryan Hollins-See Powe
Przybilla- I like him for the right amount he would be a good sign
Troy Murphy-another big who wishes he could only play on the premeiter
Greg Oden-See Yao
Marc Gasol- I would love this kid. If we got him then the wait is well worth it plus maybe he could finally help us guard his bro
Chris Wilcox- Undersized athletic but undersized. I dont want another undersized big.
Nene-I like him as a player but not a shot blocker. A good pf maybe some center but not a shot blocking force
Noah- I dont see the bulls allowing him to wear anything but bulls red.Any of these worth some of the 16 mill we get rid of? I think Biendris is younger than the guys I like and less injury prone than others such as oden/ming. Idk I like Przybilla LOVE gasol(we would prob have to pay more than Biendris to get him) but the others I would rather have Biendris. That may just be me

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantAcutually I stay we watch AK walk to new jersey for nothing…. The russian billionaire gets his russian stud.

butidonthavemoneyDon’t you remember how amazing he played this season? When we started him we won 17 out of our next 18 games. He was playing defense, passing, hitting 3’s. He is WAY more important to the team than anyone seems to realize.
Maybe you (and every other Jazz fan on here) were in a coma during that stretch of the season. I wasn’t.
Let him play out his contract, and then re-sign him for cheaper. 6-8 million a year. He won’t ditch us for New Jersey. If anything, he’ll ditch the NBA and play in Russia.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI like the trade because it gives us size, but I wonder how often Biedrins would be healthy. The27 guy is right, Biedrins contract is pretty ugly. 9million for 5 years. If we do this we would only have at least 4 million left over to bring over Tomic in 2011. We need to not screw this up. 4 million is not that enticing to a guy who is going to be a star. He might still sign which would be awesome, but the alternative sounds better. Without doing the trade, next year we would about 11 million left over. This is much more tempting to Tomic, and to any international stud like Tomic is going to be. Plus with thatmoney we have the flexibility to sign other free agents to. There are also bigs in the 2011 draft to go after. Just look at the 2011 mock draft on this site and you will see about 4 or 5 of them in the first round, and about 3 of them have the possibility of being our draft pick!!! So if we don’t do this trade it would save us in the long run. It may not make sense to you middletonvb but AK could also be a quality back up to Millsap at the 4. I know this is not his normal position but he can play it. He would be a stretch 4 which would be a nice complement to Millsap, and with his size and ridiculous wingspan he can block a ton of shots even more then Biedrins or Turiaf could combined probably. AK is no the kind of guy he was a year or 2 ago. He has learned to be a quality role player which every team needs. In order to get Tomic I would much keep AK, and have more flexibiltiy in 2011.

butidonthavemoneyI’ll check it out, only if you stop saying "pig’s tits".
In fact clean up the language all together, or I’m going to have to report you to Mollom.

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantAnd no I wasnt asleep during that run. But do remember when Miles had to carry us playing the 3 when AK didnt play in the playoffs? and how we really miss him when he is always injured. Idk just an idea to throw out there. And ya AK can back up Milsap but that still doesnt give us size. and really do you want fes as our starter for the whole start of the season at center when okur is out? Do wanna show Williams that we are still not going to try to make moves to bring him players? are we really throwing all our chips in on this Tomic guy? I mean he could be solid dont get me wrong. But from what i heard he may never want to leave europe and he is not the strongest defender either. I am not a AK-47 hater at all. In fact i own a home and away AK jersey and until Matthews and Millsap came along he was my favorite player in the league. I just think his contact could get us some pieces.

bankjungParticipantAK is not bad but his stat go down because Boozer and Okur. I would like to give the last chance to AK. If you talk about AK’ stat. I have something to show.
In one team the fieldgoal attempt average is 90 time. Boozer + William combine more than 40. Okur+Millsap make at least 20 , so they have 30 attempt for the 6 players to try it. If AK get it 10 time in 50% AK’ percentage , he will get 10 point. That show he cannot get more point and he sacrifice to team. In the last year of AK , I hope he migth get the chance to participate in offensive game to prove himself. It might be better than trade him and get something that AK dosen’t have but It will make new problem in the Jazz. Do not risk in new players that are not superstar like Lee , Birdins.

NYK2010ParticipantThis would be a great trade for the Warriors.
They already moved Maggette now Biedrins.
Almost done with long term contracts only Ellis is left though he’s a stud player but lacks maturity.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/02/2010 - 4:02am #345440
JazzinSLCParticipantThe guy really isn’t worth that, and his stats are inflated because of the style Nellie plays. I do like Turiaf’s toughness, but I’d still rather have AK then that combo (and I want to trade AK worse then anything). I can’t wait until he’s gone.

JazzinSLCParticipantIt happens…
Just about every Jazz fan I’ve talked to in the last 6 months (i’d say about 80%) wants AK gone like yesterday, but you don’t want to lose one bad contract…only to pick up another. Biedrins isn’t much of a defender. In fact, he’s a pretty soft player.
