franfranParticipantI think it can be a very good player in the NBA.
Potential?
Rol player, Starter player, All-Star player or super star player?
Comparison?
It really is a lottery player right now?0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/30/2012 - 9:31am #731014
evdebbsParticipanti just posted basically the same question for porter about a few seconds after you. if ballin is genetic then he’s got a good future.

SiggyParticipantI think he has All-Star, not superstar potential. He’s only a freshman but he has very few glaring weaknesses in his game. He’s athletic, skilled and smart. He can score from all 3 levels of the floor. He plays hard and intelligently on both ends. He knows how to move without the ball to get easier shots and play off of others, etc. I could go on.
His main weakness is probably his ball-handling ability. I don’t think it’s good enough for him to be a SG (only in spots) at the next level. Even with his lack of handle, he still shows an ability to straight line drive as well as create his own shot off of 1 or 2 bounces. Another knock he might have on him is his size. He has OK size for the SF position, but in the age of 6’8-6’10 SFs, he could be considered slightly undersized.
There’s a whole lot to like about him, but having said all that, I hope he stays 1 more year so he can prove himself as the man at Michigan. I think that would better prepare him, as he’d be forced to refine his 1 on 1 and playmaking ability.

kobyzParticipantconsummate SF and an high level one, has athleticism, defense, smart, shooting and developing offensive ball skills. comparison: Jim Jackson/Brandon Rush

Chilbert arenasParticipantBigger and stronger than Rush and Jackson, with less shooting touch at this point.

ThomasdeghaeyReminds me more of Bobby Simmons, is good at everything but just kind of floats around and does not get big numbers.

SiggyParticipantHe’s a freshman 3rd option learning a complex system while playing out of position at the college 4. He’s scoring efficiently and picking his spots very well. They don’t even run plays for him.
I don’t think he just floats around either. He’s very active always looking to cut and hit the o-glass.0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/01/2012 - 12:27am #731127

OfficialHe could come out but will likely stay imo. Similar situation with Rodney Purvis or Rasheed Sulaimon etc. Guys doing good but need a little more seasoning.
He wouldn’t get playing time in the NBA right now. He should stay and dominate cbb next year.
He is a do it all SF who isn’t great at anything right now. He’s improving by the second and his game is on the verge of ‘clicking’, and when it does he’s gonna be in that lotto range.0 - AuthorPosts
