European BasketballerParticipantThere is so many people that keep saying crap about the “level he plays against”……well here he is playing against Aris (one of the biggest clubs by far in Greece) from the Greek FIRST DIVISION when he was 17 years old.
No more excuses about “low level competition” and all this other bullshit. That competition is much higher than NCAA.

jhbm24ParticipantLooks more like a pick up game that a bunch of people on this website would play good in. To be honest.. And that doesn’t look even close to the NCAA.. I didn’t see any good defense. None at all..
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 12:41am #763725
European BasketballerParticipantWhat the hell is wrong with you? Are you trying to claim that NCAA is a higher level than the better teams from the top Greek League?
Seriously…………………..WOW, un-freaking believable.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 11:21am #763862
BigMac12111ParticipantThat was exactly what he was trying to claim, and it’s probably true.

larryfiskenParticipantIn this type of context when its clearly a kind of a mixtape its pointless to point out that there is no defence, when was the last time u saw good defence in a mixtape?

I have no idea how to embed but this is the atmosphere at Aris games not whatever in the hell you claim your video to be. That is probably like an under 17 tournament or something. If you haven’t realised professional sports teams play in stadiums not poor excuses for tiny rec centers.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 1:34am #763736
European BasketballerParticipantWTF is wrong with you? Did I say the game was at Aris’ arena?
NO I did NOT.
That is NOT an under 17 tournament. It’s ARIS the senior men’s team. ARIS THE SENIOR MEN TEAM
It is the Greek Cup game between Filathlitikos and Aris.
It is not a freaking under 17 game you liar.

frogmanParticipantWTF is wrong with me is that I had a few too many beers at my dads birthday tonight. I apologize I can’t read too well. You should probably settle down though.

pohani komaracParticipantLot Europian clubs don’t have proper arenas. KK Zagreb qulifyed in Eurolegue playing in school gym.
ULEB is trying to change that, but still lot of teams play profesional basketball in such small arenas

0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 1:35am #763741
frogmanParticipantBut Filathlitikos have never played in the first division in the Greek league? Was this just a pre season game that no one cared about? Just trying to piece together your crap
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 1:40am #763744
frogmanParticipantOh I figured it out it’s the Greek cup. Yeh that’s like a fourth division team in England playing Manchester United in the FA Cup. Doesn’t mean anything. If you haven’t figured out already I and many people like Adetokoubo but we would like him a whole lot more if you stop shoving him down our throats.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 5:28am #763773
FreelanceScoutParticipantHe does have really excellent control and instincts, two things you can’t really coach. very intriguing prospect. Is he better than an 18 year old Shaun Livingston?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 5:39am #763775
jhbm24ParticipantIf this was the level of competition stated then there should be defense. Especially if its the Greek cup game. And why would they not be playing in an arena if it was a senior men’s Greek cup game….
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 10:29am #763840
European BasketballerParticipantStrange, the defense is every bit as good or better as what you see in an NBA game. I take it you have never in your life seen an NBA game.
How many possessions of defense are there in an average NBA game? 2 or 3 in 48 minutes? How many wide open shots in an average NBA game? What about 25?
They don’t have home court advantage in Greek Cup idiot. They do a coin toss for home court.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 10:36am #763843
alingeParticipantSo when they did the coin toss for home court, why did the team who won choose to play in the local ymca

NYFLAVA2K9ParticipantI see Nicolas Batum at VERY best, more likely a Jared Dudley/Mickael Pietrus level player. He is a very intriguing prospect I agree, but nothing out of this realm. His ball handling while good for his size, isn’t great. His change of direction on his crossover is average, and he needs to tighten up his handle as he has a very wide dribble. His Jumper while effective for his current league, has no lift and will get swatted easily in the NBA. His release point is very low, which negates any size advantage he has. What I do like about him is his impressive wingspan, and his motor. He’s definitely an NBA player, but will more than likely carve out a role as a defensive minded role player than a star. In this years draft, a mid teens to low 20’s pick would definitely be worth the gamble. However, in a strong draft such as next years I don’t even start looking at him if I were a GM until the very late first round range.

European BasketballerParticipantPietrus would not even get playing time in the top Greek league. He would get cut within 2 weeks. He would be a TOTAL SCRUB and a half at that level.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 11:24am #763864
BigMac12111ParticipantPlease, stop. You are killing me here
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 10:52pm #764040
European BasketballerParticipantNo way in hell would Pietrus cut it in Greek League. He would be like many many other NBA players that got cut in Greek league.
Truly bad NBA players have never made it in Greek League level.
Pietrus would last 2 weeks at most.

jhbm24Participantyou said NCAA… And every possession in the NCAA has defense, apparently you don’t even know what your speaking of, because I believe in your original post you said better than the NCAA, which by comparison has defense.
Lawyered..

SnowtaParticipantPietrus has played in the NBA for 10 years and you’re saying he’d get cut in 2 weeks in the Greek League?? Even past his prime don’t tell me he couldn’t start for one of these teams. Your conviction made me curious though so I checked out this league and was looking at the stats and noticed Smush Parker was 6th in the league in scoring……..
I gotta stop reading Euro Ballers posts in the library…these comments got me laughing out loud!
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 1:23pm #763899
pohani komaracParticipantSmush Parker is Joke. His stats don’t show how bad he played in europe. He played few games for Cibona and Kobe is right about him. He pumped up his stats and he was cut, but that’s it. His fat as.s costed Cibona few wins
And Euroballer is right Greek legue is beeter then NCAA. It’s not even question
Imo he is wrong about Pietrus. He could play in Grece, maybe even for Greek top teams Oly and Pao. But would not be their leading star
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/17/2013 - 11:05pm #764044
European BasketballerParticipantNo. Marcus Banks is a similar level player and he’s a huge scrub on PAO…that finally got relegated to 3rd string point guard, behind Xanthopoulos (who is hardly one of the better Greek players).
Not to mention this year guys like Kapono and Hilton Armstrong were total failures also, especially Armstrong who was total crap and got cut. Same thing every year.
Bad NBA players don’t make it in Greek League.
Seriously…….Pietrus on PAO? OK, so he would be in the same role as Michael Bramos.problem is that Bramos is a much better defender, is more athletic, and is a much better shooter, AND Bramos is NOT injury prone.
Bramos is the team’s backup shooting guard and the chance that Pietrus would play over him is absolute ZERO. Not a freaking chance in HELL. Pietrus would be fighting with Charis Giannopoulos to be the team’s 13th man.
Piterus on Olympiacos? REALLY? So who is he playing over in guard rotation then? Katsivelis maybe? Katsivelis that plays 5-7 minutes and now that does this because Mantzaris is injured?
Katsivelis that is never injured like Pietrus and that is a much better passer, ball handler, and defender than Pietrus? That at this point in time, is probably also more athletic than Pietrus?
Hmm………..somehow I think not.
Is Pietrus playing at all over Law, Spanoulis, Sloukas? Not a chance in hell. OK……..
Is Pietrus playing over Perperoglou or Papanikolaou? Nope. Again, not a freaking chance in hell. Last year Pelekanos barely played, and he’s the same type of player as Pietrus on offense, only he’s a way, way, way better defender than Pietrus by miles.
So…….in PAO Pietrus would be a 13th man. In Olympiacos, he would be a 13-14 man, or at best case scenario, he would get the 5-7 minutes Katsivelis gets (which ONLY even happens because the starting guard Mantzaris is out with injury),
and fair truth is, Katsivelis is better than him, so even that is unlikely.
No, Pietrus would NOT get playing time on those teams.

European BasketballerParticipantNo way in hell would he make it in Greek League. And whole bunches of NBA players better than him have got cut for poor play in Greek league.
There have been HUNDREDS – HUNDREDS of NBA players in the Greek League.
HUNDREDS.
Parker? He is NOT 6th in league ins coring, he played like 2 or 3 games all year genius. Actually, he got cut by Iraklis a few years ago, and they were the worst team in the whole Greek league.
