Can someone please elaborate to me why so many people dislike Gerald Henderson, I know he is 8th in the mock but I still don’t think he gets the respect he deserves. He is ultra-athletic, plays good D, and has greatly improved his jump shot from his first two years at Duke. In my opinion he is better than everybody from last years draft class excluding Rose, Beasley, and Mayo. So where is the love?

I don’t think he’s a star, but I think he’s worthy of some pretty big numbers. I think his ceiling is 18-5-4-2. I don’t ever see him being a consistent 20ppg guy in the NBA, but I think he’s a very intriguing prospect.

I think Henderson is going to be a good player in the NBA but I think Westbrook and Brook Lopez will have better careers. He has all the tools to become a lock down defender. I just want him to improve his handle so he can do some more creative stuff off the dribble and I like his midrange game, but I dont think he’ll ever become a knockdown 3pt shooter. At best he can be is a D-Wade with less ball handling which would hinder him getting to the rim so I guess it’s not really a D-Wade, but that’s just what I’m seeing. He’ll probably be more of a Pietrus

I see what you guys mean, but I can easily see him doing what a Richard Jefferson does because his mid range game is better and he is a much better defender.

To say he will be average is ridiculous. I don’t know who told you that everybody in the NBA is athletic. The only way he won’t become an All-Star caliber player if if he stops working. His upside is off the charts.

Henderson is a freak athgeleticaly. Have you seen his highlights? I understand the NBA is a different game but henderson is more atheletic than most people in the NBA! he can litterally jump out of the gym. His jump shot has improved tremendously from last year. He proved he can make big shots in big situations as he has shown this year. he will be a good NBA player and will contribute

I love the way Gerald Henderson is starting to assert himself on the court this season, besides staying healthy all year, which is a major plus, this kid is a great talent, and has off the charts athletic ability. He reminds me so much of a young Grant Hill its ridiculous.

Henderson reminds me of Richard Jefferson. They both have the same type of athleticism and willingness to defend and hit the boards when the situation calls for it. I do subscribe to the theory Duke players arent good in the NBA lol, but Henderson looks like a future NBA starter and a 15 point 5 board 1.5 spg kinda guy.

I really like the Richard Jefferson comparison when talking about this athletic specimen Gerald Henderson. He’ll be a good nba player, the problem is, as most people recognize is that offensively he hasn’t pieced a total package yet. As a couple people mentioned b4, his ball handling is very shaky and he doesn’t really look comfortable when guys get up in his grill and when he has to use his left hand for more than a couple of dribbles. I’m also not sure how good he is in catch and shoot situations, as he usually goes hard right and stops on a dime to rise over his defenders for his mid-range j. Right now though his game seems too mechanical and dependent on athleticism more than skill and I just don’t see the great, 10 time all star (maybe I’m exaggerating) some are projecting. But that was just like RJ coming out, but he worked on his game and was a 22 pt scorer last season, so we’ll see. Defensively he’s tough as nails as we all know and I don’t have to say more about that. That’s why although the richard jefferson comparison is good, henderson is more like 6’4 – 6’4 1/2, while RJ is 6’7 and a legit small foward. Therefore because of his size (even though his length and athleticism could probably make up for it) henderson is going to have to be forced to play the two even though his game is more suited for the 3 position. Thats why I feel a great comparison for Henderson would be a keith bogans type player filling that role of great defender and a spot up guy that will hit shots playing along side a star. How hard henderson works on his game will determine if he assumes a greater role offensively in the league. Overall though, I like watching him play, he’s an exciting player that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
