What’s going to happen with these people?

John Henson was rumored to be starting at center this year and then I hear the coach saying Larry Sanders will anchor the defense. So umm… which is it?

The L.A. Times, using Laker personnel for reference. Said that the Lakers see Jordan Clarkson contributing to the Lakers more than Julius Randle this year AND could end up the starting PG by the end of the year. What? I know he played well in summer, but they have Lin and Old Man Nash. I don’t expect Nash to play more than 15 minutes in the whole year, but I think Lin is due the position. Unless they trade the guy. Thoughts?

Arnett Moultrie is down to 252 pounds, 10% and rumor is he could start over Sims. I liked him when he came into the league, but will he som day be a starter somewhere? Hasn’t that time already passed?

Man, I hope Moultrie starts over Sims. With no actual competition in the center spot, (Nerlens is a pf), I hope Moultrie gets it. Coming out of college he had lots of potential but was oft-injured. Really hope he could prove what he’s worth this season with gaping holes in the roster.

i can’t see henson playing center.  i know he gained some weight but he’s a plank.

have to agree on clarkson.  maybe since lin and nash are in their last year of their respective contracts, it means they’ll be letting the kid play if they are out of playoff contention (which is probably going to happen).  on randle, was surprised the lakers adding so many frontcourt players.  hill, davis and boozer are probably going to get first crack at frontcourt minutes.

man, if moultrie can keep his head on straight and attitude in check, i hope he can start for the 76ers.  he was a beast at utep and miss st.  a lot of skill for a guy his size…

I’m not expecting a ton out of Clarkson, though I do think he will be exceptional at getting to the hole.  I was hoping the Lakers would sign him to a Chandler Parsons type contract…. no not Chandler Parsons new contract, but his old one!

I was hoping that they would sign him to a 4 year min offer.  I am sure a couple of things factored in, maybe Clarkson and his team said no way.

From the Lakers side of things it would make sense… At worst they have signed their 15th man for the next 4 years… at best during years 3 and 4 they have a steal of a player on a sweet contract.

I wonder why this doesn’t happen more often.  Do you think it’s the player turning down the guaranteed, albeit low money.  Or that teams would prefer not to risk a 2nd rounder completely flopping out for the next 4 years?  I would argue that if the team trusts their scouting… it is pretty much a risk free investment, considering how little of an impact a guy relegated to the 15th spot on the bench typically has.  Since you have to sign a few players to the minimum every year anyways… why not roll the dice a bit.

What do you think, player or team?

Larry was always going to be the starting C on this team until he proves to be mentally unstable again, but like Kidd said, he is the anchor of the defense.

Jabari/Ersan will likely be the starting PF, with Giannis, OJ/Middleton, and Knight as the other starters.
