SiggyParticipantChad Ford just moved Gary Harris into his top 10 on his big board and he says that scouts are in love with his game.
Should we be talking about him more?
Sparty does not have a history of one and done players and Gary was not seen as a guy with 1 and done potential. So lets break down his game. 6’4 in shoes which by today’s standards seems average. 6’7 wingspan, which is average to slightly below average for a SG. He’s around 210 with good body strength. Explosive leaper with what I would consider a good first step. Has 3 pt range and can finish at the rim. I haven’t seen much in terms of an in b/t game. Doesn’t show much handle outside of straight line drives. Like most Izzo kids he defends really well too with good lateral quicks. Overall, he has a very mature game for a freshman.
If he were to declare, where would you slot him and where would you rank him among the other 1st round SG candidates? Comparisons? What is the difference b/t him and say… freshman Brad Beal?
I think I’d have him somewhere in the early to mid 20s in this draft. 5th or 6th among SG prospects.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI’ve had him in the 1st Round of my Mock, every since late December..And i believe Both TeamsPlayedHard is the only other poster to have him in their Mock..BTPH had Harris in his Top 10…
Its about time this kid get some pub..Harris can score points in a hurry,he’s 1 of the best shooters in the nation,a good athlete,a good passer,he’s mature and most importantly he plays within the team concept..I say if he keeps playing like this he could go in the Lottery……..

DipoTimeParticipantI think he is like mini Eric Gordon. By that I think he is really similar to him just not quite on his level in almost any way. Very good all around player who I think has been slept on all year. Not as a prospect in this year’s draft but just as a great freshman. I think he is the Big Ten FOY. To answer your post though I would probably take him mid-first. I think because of his good feel for the game, shooting ability, and already good defense, he should be considered around the same time as Goodwin if not before him.
Beal was a great rebounder at the college level. He didnt shoot like people thought he would but he had the great stroke. Other than rebounding and hype I dont see a big difference between the two. If Harris goes in the 20s then maybe this draft is alot better than what people initially thought. Or its at least deeper than thought.

HaleParticipantI moved him into the top 20 on my big board recently. I’ll watch a few more games to get a more complete feel on him, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go lottery since it seems like a few guys are killing their stock right now.

tblazer_NZParticipantI would take him over Goodwin.
Chad Ford has him in his top 10 (at 10) but he isn’t that good at projecting where player will go.

JoeJoParticipantHe’s been much better than I expected. He didn’t impress me at all in the high school all-star games. Of course you can’t take too much from those but in terms of his body, athleticism, handle, shot mechanics, I didn’t see a good future pro. He looked smaller than his listed height, with short arms, his athleticism looked average at best, his handle average and there was something crooked about how he released his shot. I’ve been impressed with his all-around skills and he also looks more athletic than I initially thought.
He sort me reminds of OJ Mayo.
