Mr. 19134ParticipantStop hating cuz that white boy in the video had some skill and a nice shot. But that was only a highlight video who knows his shooting percentage. But if he does have a nice shooting percentage he could average over ten points a game in any high school league in this country with a stroke like that. Whats the difference between him and a college stud like Jimmer Freddette

HaleParticipantWow.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/25/2010 - 8:14am #406124
Mr. 19134ParticipantAlright I admit that I did not say that right. And since some people aren’t the best of literal interpretation lemme clarify what I meant because I in NO way meant to compare that guy to Jimmer Freddette or say he is going to be as good as him, or if that kid will ever even play D-1 college ball.
I said I knew nothing about him. But what got me mad was the guy MBRH saying that kid has no chance to average ten points in a Baltimore high school because he is white…Am I the only person that found that ridiculous? None of us know anything about that kid but if you watched the video you a high school basketball player who has an obvious nice shooting stroke and deep range and seems like he can get his shot off relatively quick.
My point in saying Jimmer Freddettes name is that if you ever saw his high school highlights you got this chubby white kid, that isn’t particularly tall by guard standards, and is in no way athletic. Freddette lacks lateral quickness and overall foot speed. But he found a way to be one of the most prolific college scorers last year because of his high basketball I.Q. and his shooting touch. The guys a lights out shooter.
My point about the kid in the video is that if he has a high basketball I.Q. and is a lights out shooter, which the youtube highlight makes him look like he is but thats what a highlight video is, there is no reason to say he couldn’t be productive in the college ranks.
Now i ask all you dudes who are so quick to jump the gun, does that make sense? JNixon and WizKid am I wrong for assuming that a kid who has a high basketball I.Q. and is a lights outs shooter can be a productive player in college?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/25/2010 - 8:48am #406140
goneParticipantWhat makes you think he has High Basketball IQ? The fact he is breaking down unatheletic kids and going to the hole on fowards and centers who are 6 ft tall. My point is a its a highlight tape I can create a highlight tape of someone in my gym class and make you think he is a lights out shooter
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/25/2010 - 9:43am #406154
Mr. 19134ParticipantWizKid I just said that and I’m not necessarily talking about this dude I was talking in general ABOUT THE TYPE OF PLAYER THAT KID LOOKS LIKE. Of course anybody can look like a lights out shooter on a highlight. Andre Iguadola’s YouTube videos make him looks like the second coming of Michael Jackson. My point is what skills translate to college for success and that none of us can judge by that video except what type of skills that player could potentially have. And he looks like if he is a legit D1 prospect that he could be a Freddette type player that gets by on his shooting touch and court saavy. I’m just speaking in general I dont know who the kcuf that dude is or what he can do. But it’s not his fault that he’s playing against who he’s playing. He is doing in that video what a legit good player should do and thats light them up without any trouble.
I just hate how people act like just because of who he is playing against that means a player like that won’t have success anywhere. Steph Curry came the same route. Curry was not a top 100 recruit by most scouting services. Actually I’m not even sure if Curry was top 150. It just goes to show you that you never know

What are you talking about? Your statement was dumb. You said yourself "what makes him different from a college stud like Jimmer Freddette?" How can you try and cover it up?
And then you’re trying to cover it up by saying he has a high basketball IQ. Based off what? A highlight video? You criticize someone for saying that he couldn’t play in B-More because he’s white, and then make the most common generalization among white basketball players yourself with your "high basketball IQ" remark. And to make it all worse, you based it off a highlight video. You can type all the paragraphs you want making excuses and trying to make people out to not understand what you said, but your statement was still stupid as hell. Plain and simple

0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/25/2010 - 1:27pm #406232
Mr. 19134ParticipantJNixon you either have no college are don’t read a lot of books. I admitted I didn’t type that statement clearly, that is a byproduct of trying to state a concise argument when you’re half asleep. And when I said jump the gun I meant somebody who reads something and makes no attempt to figure out what they meant, instead they interpret it they way they want and it’s usually a worse case scenario interpretation.
First off I am gonna make no bones about the fact i have no effin clue as to who Dalen Qualls is or if he is even a D1 prospect. Everybody wanted to hate on the kid acting like it’s his fault as to who is defending him and what I saw in the video is about a 6′ guard who has nice shooting form, a quick release, and was stroking shots from everywhere on the court. And it didn’t really matter what size his defenders were anyway cuz dude was taking, and hitting shots from like 5 feet behind the 3 point line anyway. Like 2 shots he hit were a good 22 feet away from the basket and he took and hit them effortlessly and thats almost NBA range. Now obviously I am aware it is a highlight video so you’re not going to see the context them shots came in, or how many times he missed in between his makes. And most likely because the kids white and he didn’t dunk on anybody that everybody is going to assume he is a bad athlete. But the kid in the film actually looked like he had a pretty quick first step and a smooth looking pull up. And although nobody really pressed him in that film, he didn’t seem to have trouble handling the ball and in fact brought the ball up most of the time.
Now as for as me mentioning Freddette, I can almost guarantee a High School highlight tape of that dudes sophomore or Jr. year will look something like that. I clearly said I don’t know if Qualls has a basketball I.Q. or not, but it’s not far fetched to say a player with that skill set who has a basketball I.Q. wouldn’t succeed playing D-1 ball. Freddette is neither quick nor long but he gets by on his advanced feel for the game, and his shooting touch. The kid in the film looked like he had a nice shooting touch, if he were to pair that with a basketball I.Q. and keep working hard there is no reason to believe he couldn’t be a D-1 player.
I brought Freddette up because people were acting like because of his competition or because he isn’t tall or extremely athletic that he’s not a legit prospect. Gerry Mac anybody? Never understand the power of a great shooter. Steph Curry like i said wasn’t even a top 150 recruit and he probably looked like this kid playing against people in high school.
Now from what I understand it says he lead the state of Oklahoma in scoring with 35 points a game as a sophomore. When you lead your state in scoring as a sophomore thats pretty impressive.
Now if you read what i said in context how does it either not make sense, or where am I wrong at? That question is rhetorical of course because i know it makes sense and I’m not wrong.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantListen, don’t even make it a debate or arguement
The dude is 6-0 and that video was posted what 2 years ago? He’s not a D1 prospect because I checked the main recruiting places and he wasn’t there. Let’s leave it at that. He’s a scab who brags about leading Oklahoma who, name the 3rd best player from Oklahoma after Wayman Tisdale and Blake Griffin…
Also, his highlight tape is jumpshot. Let me get my tape and prove that I should be ballin with John Wall. It’s easy to make a tape…send me some game footage of him on defense. He probably gets dunked on or shook on that end.

mbdParticipant@Mr.Knick Oklahoma has plenty of other NBA players besides Tisdale and Griffin. Xavier Henry, Shelden Williams, Daniel Orton, Ekepe Udoh, Keelana Azubiuke, and Etan Thomas. For Oklahoma being such a small state we have a lot of talent. And Dalen is a pretty good ball player D1 i’m not sure yet i think he will have to go to prep school or the juco route to get more looks.

sc0rebuckets11ParticipantXavier Henry from Oklahoma?
Anyways.. to average what he did, is still impressive..
0 - Posted on: Sun, 09/26/2010 - 7:07pm #406695
Mr. 19134ParticipantYes Henry and Griffin are both from Oklahoma and I just did a little research and Dalen Qualls seems to be the real deal. He is now a Jr and averaged 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 8.5 assists. He is apparently somewhat of a legend in that state right now because he averaged 29 as a freshman, then 35 as a sophomore which lead the state in scoring. If you only a sophomore and your averaging 25 to lead you state in scoring thats pretty impressive because Henry was still playing there that year. and he already got a letter from UCLA. So he is on the major colleges radar.

Mr. 19134Participant@ Mr. Knick read the articles I just posted the kid is a legitimate prospect. He has lead the state of Oklahoma in scoring as a sophomore and Junior with defenses designed to stop him being double and tripled teamed at times. He also is averaging 11 rebounds and 8.5 assists. He scored 45 points in the championship game. And he is a coaches son. By all means I didn’t know about his basketball I.Q. before but from the numerous articles I have now read on the kid, he is a gym rat and is a student of the game. It’s not hard to find out about somebody nowadays. Just google his name. Before everybody jumps to conclusions about a kid do some research first. And if your gonna give negatives man up and give a reason why.
And I would suggest most people on this sight to read more books because a lot of people on this site HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS. AT ALL. It like you just skim through what some people say, look for keywords, then look for a reason not to like what they say. I guarantee these are the same people who have very few friends in real life because they don’t know how to get a long with people, and have virtually no sense of humor or personality.
0- Posted on: Sun, 09/26/2010 - 8:52pm #406733
mbdParticipant@ Mr.19134 Dalen isnt a legend in the state he plays in class 2a he isnt on the level of a keiton page or roteni clarke but he is good i think he would have to go to prep school or juco to get some more looks because right now he has no D1 offers mainly because he plays for the Oklahoma Wizards AAU team they dont get a lot of exposure. And he didnt drop 45 in a championship game Strafford has never played in the state championship game it was the regionals when he dropped 45.

JNixonParticipantWe don’t have a sense of humor or friends because YOU made a retarded statement. I don’t get it.
Going on these 10 paragraph long rants making weak excuses that don’t even go together or make sense, and we don’t have a sense of humor or personality and dont read books? But yeah, you are a world-renounced author right? My bad Shakespeare, I forgot you are a literary genius huh? Lol. ok. Or are you Ernest Hemingway? You have best-sellers at Barnes and Noble right now don’t you?
We don’t have a sense of humor because Dan Quals is no different from Jimmer Freddette? You must be the nbadraft.net version of Kevin Hart huh? Dave Chappelle, Chappelle’s Show? Well damn Richard Pryor, I completely forgot you were a comedian! Damn, maybe Aran and the administrators should give you some title that lets me know next time so I don’t get confused.

HaleParticipantYeah, what a joke. Also a letter from UCLA? Kid at my school got that as a Freshmen and he MIGHT start D2 this year. We played 5A (highest competition in MN) and he didn’t even play varsity until sophomore year. A letter means nothing, plus Dalen is playing crap 2A. You have no idea what Xavier would do in that kind of league.
