I know everyone thinks that the dunk contest had been weak over the years. I like the rest of you are tired of seeing the same people in it. I made a list of players I think that are capable of giving us a good show that needs to be voted in for the contest. A lot of the players I have either seen in past dunk contests or seen what they are capable of doing on highlight reels. If you have a player in mind feel free to add to my list!!!!!
* very good leaper
# underrated dunker
$ exceptional dunker
javale mcgee...he could be a dwight howard type dunker...hes got some anger in his dunks
Damn lol I had Rose on my list when i wrote it out just forgot to put it up there!!!!
Bron will never enter because he's not creative enough I think. He's a game dunker if any of you may notice, implus he wasn't that spectacular in the McDonald's contest he just elevated on his dunks. J.R.Giddens/Shannon brown got robbed!!!!
T Will will win the Dunk Contest if he is in it
Yeah you have to get Terrence Williams in the contest. It would be tragic if he missed out
What do yall think about my underrated dunkers Johnson Jennings Bayless Westbrook?
I don't know man I think Nick Young hands down
Every year i pray for James White
All are good dunkers from the PG and PF spots, but the only one that I see having even a slim chance is Brandon Jennings.
Every year I pray for Air Up There
Also, Sam Young should get some love in this topic. He's a good dunker too
Does anyone know if Josh Mcroberts can still do any of the dunks he threw down in the mcdonalds contest?
My ? to you Jorrye is why not Jennings he's a very creative dunker for his size
No Clue about McRoberts but he used to be an impressive dunker. I'm pretty sure Bill Walker has lost a lot of his explosiveness due to knee injuries and I'm not sure how good he would be now but back in the day he could jump.
Guillermo Diaz (not currently in the NBA) could be an impressive option as he had a 50 inch vert in high school.
Is Sam Young a creative dunker or game dunker because you have to be crative to be in the contest I think.
^ Terrico White does deserve mention. Good call
Sam Young is a pretty flashy dunker. He's creative, not a power dunker really.
The guy who did a 720 in the nbdl slam dunk contest
What's the knock on Jennings I really think he's creative & by any chance does anyone know his vert becuase he gets up
He probably just wouldn't do it. He's a future All-Star player, and I have doubts he'd be a Slam-Dunk participant next year. He's more of a Skills Challenge type to me.
I didn't mention Terrico White because I never seen him in a contest & I don't know what he's capable of.... all I know is he has a 40 inch vert & he's a "game dunker"
JNixon-Iggy9 your right its pribably a given that jennings will be in the skills comp
Anyone what's your take on Bayless
I think T Will will be good in the dunk contest.
The last contest was HORRIBLE! Last year also showed that guys with high verticals and "in-game dunkers" don't always translate into good competition dunkers.
Since you're an analyst on players give us a breakdown on each dunker that's posted on my list above including DROSE
every year i pray for john bryant
^^^so does jenny craig
whos jenny craig????
john bryant prefers long, hot, runs on the beach while still maintaining to wear a sweater...
john bryant has saved multiple animals from the oil spill in the gulf
If Julian Wright is still in the NBA, he'd be a good contestant. Hasn't amounted to much as a player, but the dude can dunk
i remember being impressed with him, bc he could take off on either foot, jumping either 2 foot takeoff.
russell westbrook is one like this as well, also eric bledsoe too.
A 50 inch vertical for Guillermo Diaz? I have to see it to believe it. That would be insane.
derrick rose, terrance williams,
Gilliermo Diaz was a freak athlete at Miami, I thought he had a chance in the NBA. He actually played like a poor mans Steve Francis back then
Are you a Bayless fan also?
Patrick Ewing, Jr.....if he makes a team.
That 50" vertical measurement for Diaz is ridiculous. If he is 6'2" then that would mean he could just about get his nose to the rim. His max vert in 2006 was 42" according to an article at draftexpress.com
Why does everyone say Jennings is an exceptional athlete and great dunker? He caught one dunk last year, one. on a fast break and it wasn't anything special. He wouldn't do anything noteworthy in a dunk contest.
Look @ my post with his highlights on this thread & you will see why. He has the creativity to me
to the guy who said Julian wright obvs doesnt remember this
I think Derozan will get another shot. I also think Weems will get a shot but that they wouldnt let 2 Raptors in the contest.Williams should get an oppurtunity. If Robinson is in again Im going to be very upset so Ill leave him out in my prediction.Javale Mcgee should definitely break out this year and deliver along side Wall.He will get a shot.Paul George should also break out along with Griffin and many other players but Ill take Griffin due to market value. Favors and Johnson could also get some play.
If you thnk he is dunk cntest material i hink you are vastly overating his jumping ability.
It's possible to have teammates in the contest remember T-MAC & Vince?
If you think I'm overrating his jumping ability.....Tell me what his vert is or better yet find a link for me.
best dunk contest, imo, would be 1 point guard, 1 big man, and two 6 foot 6 to 6 foot 8 guards or forwards.
pg- d rose, jennings, westbrook, wall
big man-javale mcgee, ryan hollins, serge ibaka
swingmen- t williams, weems, nick young, gerald henderson
that list and then there are the usuals like iguodala, the smiths(josh & jr), dwight, kryptonate, lebron, amare, etc.
it would also be cool if they let the d league winner dunk against the nba guys.
i wouldnt mind seeing derrick brown from charlotte either.
