Heartbreaking news for those who knew and watched Dan Roundfield play. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this time. Life is fragile.

Dan Roundfield, a three-time N.B.A. All-Star in the early 1980s, drowned off the southern tip of Aruba after he and his wife, Bernie, were caught in rough surf while swimming, the police and a family member said. Roundfield, 59, got his wife safely to some rocks, but he was swept away in the current, said John Larmonie, a police spokesman. Search teams found his body about 90 minutes later trapped by rocks underwater. AP

Drowning has got to be one of worst and scariest ways to die. Cant even imagine the fear one would feel being in that situation. Very sad

So true ,i remember when i was about 10..I was walking home from school,it had been raining really hard for 2 straight days..Workers had been building something about a block from the school and had tore up the street to make a drainage area for the new building..The hole was about 8 feet deep and about 30 feet long..People in the neighborhood had been complaining becuz they hadn’t closed off the area..

I couldnt see the huge hole, becuz of all the water on the ground..I accidently stepped it,and at the time i couldnt swim..I felt like my life was over,as i struggled to get out….

But Some older teens pulled me out of the water and called paramedics..They told me i had stopped breathing, but thanks to older teens for giving me mouth to mouth,i was still alive..Those were the same kids my mom told me not to hang around, becuz they were nothing but trouble..I always avoided them and didnt open the door whenever they came to my house to play video games..

My mom sued the city and we won in a settlement out of court…My mom give the guys something for saving me..

So i advised that everyone, especially black youths learn how to swim, becuz its 1 of the major causes of deaths of black youths…

Roundfield is among the number of very good players that alot of people hadnt heard of…

Guys like Jack Sikma,Sidney Moncrief,Gus Williams,Micheal Ray Richardson,Dan Issel,Walter Davis and Otis Birdsong arent talked about that much, but they would be among the top players at their positions if they played today…

The freaky thing is that I first heard of him just a couple days ago.  The Dominique Wilkins post made me look into some old Atlanta Hawks rosters and I saw how productive he was in 82′ and did a little research on him to find out who he was.  It’s really weird that he died just a couple days later.

Our lawyers wanted to take it to trial..But my sisters & brother felt we wouldn’t get anything ,and talked my mom into taking the settlement..Which was 2 million dollars..

I was extremely happy ,becuz i did odd jobs like cutting people yards, selling cans, selling pecans and acorns to get money just to buy school clothes..I remember having to wear 2 pair of pants to school..1 pair was for monday, wednesday & friday, the other pair was for tuesday & thursday..And kids and teachers were so cruel.. My clothes were washed & they were clean, but i felt so dirty wearing them so often..

I remember when we came back from the bank, there were so many of our family members, friends, neighbors and alot of their friends waiting on us..I wondered how some of them had came from other states so fast..They cheered & waved as we drove by in my brother’s car..So many cars had lined up on our street and the next 2 streets…That Police were called becuz of all the noise, horns blowing, cursing, yelling and cars parked in their driveways…

That’s crazy!!! Had y’all taken it to trial, y’all probably would’ve gotten $10-15 million.

I got into a car accident in high school during my senior year. They insurance company tried to get my parents to settle and only offered them like $3,000… I was 17, so I really couldn’t negotiate with them. My uncle stepped in and told them we were going to take it to trial if they didn’t up the offer. They then put it up to $20,000.

Let’s just say I was balling as a freshman in college lol.
