Okay, now I’ve really heard everything. I LOVE Kyrie, but C’mon???? SERIOUSLY? THIS IS AN ARGUMENT? KYRIE IS GOING TO WIN AN MVP? KYRIE IS GOING TO LEAD THE BEST TEAM IN THE EAST TWO REGULAR SEASONS IN A ROW????

Kyrie is only a rookie, its comparable because they are both #1 overall picks and point guards

Kyrie has the potential to be the best pure point guard in the NBA

It was asked who you would want to build around

I personally would take Kyrie Irving, BUT I think Derrick Rose is the better player

Rose is better now. Given Kyrie’s shot it’s debatable whether he can be better in a few seasons.  Why is this unbelievable?  Didn’t it turn out reasonable after Rose’s rookie year to discuss whether he’d really be in competition with Paul within 2 seasons?

Rose’s game is built on explosiveness and athleticism. I can see Irving’s game aging better.

he’ll be a top 5 pg, sooner rather than later… isn’t it funny i collected like 45 negs arguing than irving is better than wall.

I completely agree with Memphis Madness…Rose will be better for the next 4-5 years but after that i think Kyrie will be better because his game won’t be affected nearly as much by aging as Rose. Rose does seem to have an extremely good work ethic and could very well be one of those players who when they lose some athleticism he’ll make up for it in other ways.

I still see a lot of room for Rose to improve but I just think Kyrie is going to be a very good point guard. I see a lot of Chris Paul in him and after a couple of high draft picks or FA acquistions to give him some talented players to play with I only see his game being that much more impressive. He is the type of PG that brings out the best of the players he plays along side of. He can also shoulder the scoring load and I can see him taking over games when needed.

I don’t see another elite PG coming along in the next couple of years (of course I might be wrong) so as Paul and Williams age the best PG debate will shift to Kyrie, Rose, and maybe Rubio depending on how he progresses. They are all very talented but different PGs and it will be interesting to see how all of their careers turn out.

Look, I’m an Irving fan. When drafted I said no comparison between him and Kemba Walker and Brandon Knight. Irving was going to be a legit good point guard the moment he stepped on the court. That is proving to be true. He is shooting a slightly higher percentage than one would expect and that has got people talking about him as an elite PG. The kid is great. He might get better. But it is silly to say that that improvement is so certain to happen that you would take him over the proven elite production of Derrick Rose. Especially when it seems like Rose could still get better as well.

Right now, this argument is silly. Let’s check back in a couple years.

The remarkable thing about D-Rose was how he much he continuted to improve from Year 1 to Year 2 to Year 3 to Year 4…not how good he was in Year 1 or 2.

if you want to give an opinion on who to build around, fine.  it doesnt mean things cant/wont go completely different directions.

the thing about taking Rose is, had LBJ not joined the Heat, he could have had a ring already and been looking for a 2nd.  too many variables come to play.

yes, Irving’s game isnt predicated on atheticism and explosiveness like Rose.  what you have in Irving is an extremely refined NBA ready game, but he may not have as much ceiling as some others because he is closer to being a finished product.  Yes, he will get much better, but people love to get on the bandwagon when guys are rolling then s**T on them the minute they are not.

you guys can say Irving is better than Wall, but if Wall stays healthy, I feel he will be the better player.  It appears that Kyrie is better than Wall because some portions of his game is already more well rounded.  I will stick with my prediction that Wall will be something absolutely special.

I dont get overhyped over a guy’s first 2 or 3 seasons in the league, particularly one who only played one year of college ball.  A lot of people thought Vince would be another MJ or on par with Kobe after his first 3 seasons.  Then again, Gary Payton, Steve Nash, etc…didnt look like future stars in their first 3 or 4 years either.

this is good to talk about, but in about 3 more years, this conversation will be totally different.

As everyone knows…I’m a big Kyrie homer, but I think this discussion is too early.

The kid has one flaw and that is defense. Until he gets better on that end, only then will I compare him to the reigning MVP.

also, how can you say Irving is a more pure point guard when Rose averages more assists and less turnovers?

if anything, Irving is a slightly better shooter than Rose…

Kyrie is great, but it’s way to early to come to a verdict on this. We’ll see how the next three years pan out, and as great a rookie year D-Rose had topped off with an amazing playoff performance against Boston, but Kyrie has been scoring very well this season.

We know the passin is there, unfortunatly there is no one to pass to, lol, but in due time we could see him as a top 3 PG, behind CP3 and Rose and right in there with Westbrook. As Cleveland’s roster gets better, look for Kyrie to average 22 and 8, and lead them to victories as well. I know they’ve tailed off of late, but they had a decent start to the season, and I believe are around 4-5 games back of NY and Boston. Don’t think they can make a run this year, and it is in their best interest to tank the rest of the season and try to get Anthony Davis, but nonetheless they have a great future ahead of them.

Just going to put it out there that due to his work ethic, I still fully expect Brandon Knight to be great.  Not Irving class (never expected quite that), but still great.
