Wanted to get your guys thoughts on these guys since Ive only seen Faried play twice and only seen one Biyambo highlight video. They both have about the same style of play, position and size. Ive seen a lot of Ibaka, Ben Wallace, Dennis Rodman comparisons between the two.

Theyre both in the same spot in most mocks Ive seen (late teens to twenties) including this site so… Who will be a better pro and where do you think theyll end up in the draft?

I might be too much of a homer, but I think Biyombo is going to go in the top 10 and Faried is going to be liek you said late teens early twenties. Bismack is a Ben Wallace type of player and Faried is a Reggie Evans type of player.

This is a really weak draft anyway so it is real possible for Biyombo to get picked in the top 10.

With how weak this draft is I think both will be lottery picks. I think Faried will mostly play 4 in the NBA, while BB will be a 5. Faried is more ready now, but BB maybe has a higher ceiling. Any time a guy has his athleticism and a 7-7 wingspan, the ceiling is very high.

If Brismack is INDEED 18 years old, I may take him over Faried. But if Brismack is about the same age as Faried (which is currently rumored) then give me Faried without hesitation.

^ If BB is 18 I would take him, if he’s 22 or 23 I might still take him, with his combo of size and athleticism he is a potential type pick not as projectable if he is that old but compare him to Ekpe Udoh who is almost 24 and is a defensive stopper/rebounder type, I can see him filling that same role. He also has a better build then Faried and looks to be able to handle the larger guys in the post, I don’t know if Faried can body up with those guys.

Kenneth Faried is a carbon copy of Udonis Haslem. I think Faried will develop a decent J like Haslem, but the only difference between them is the fact Faried is much more athletic

^I think he can have a Haslem type of role in the NBA but their builds are different Haslem is 250 Faried is 225 with much narrower shoulders, and hes is much more athletic as you pointed out.

Ive got Faried going to Indiana and Biyambo going to New York and both are generous selections, they will have to relly impress with workouts to fall there.

Now, I’ve been seeing and reading a lot about this Biyambo guy, and really, I’m not sold on him. I mean, he has one solid showing against some high schoolers and that’s it. I need more info on him. That being said, I keep seeing him in the top 10 of mock drafts for his "potential". The fact that Chad Ford, the man that hyped such "stars" as Darko, Maciej Lampe, and Nikoloz Tskitishvili, is endorsing him as a mid lottery pick, to my Pistons no less, is utterly frightening. Now, Faried……sign me up for him. He’s a walking double-double against any competition in Division I. A proven product. I’d rather have someone who has a limited ceiling and a pro ready game than a player that would take a few years to develop. I wouldn’t take neither with the Pistons’ pick, which should be either at 6, 7, or 8, but if they were to trade down somehow, Faried should be the pick.

Biyambo is a completely different player than those guys though. They were hyped because they were 7ft and could dribble and shoot. They also had questionable strength and toughness. BB knows his game and it is to block shots, rebound, hustle and dunk. That’s pretty much what Dwight Howard does and he is a top 10 guy in the league.

Faried amd Monroe would terrorize the league… Funny how Faried draws comparisons to Rodman and Biyambo to Wallace both great Pistons. It would be cool if Detroit could somehow grab both, maybe by trading thir pick to Charlotte for the 9th and 21st picks.

Are their games not similar? Or did I miss an offensive move, jump shot, ball handling ability in Dwights game? Comparing does not mean equivalent so please provide meaningful discussion.

I also think Kenyon Martin is a decent comparison for Faried. Similar build and the agility to guard on the perimeter or the muscle to defend 4s in the post. I feel that is a better comp for him because he has more offensive potential than Rodman and will block more shots while being a good but not great rebounder on the next level.

i think you can throw to the discussion also Tristan Thompson, he is in the same mold as a player, not less the defender and with more upside offensively,  i think he will go ahead of both of them in the draft!

i like the mention on faried and monroe together imo thats a good combo for the future in detroit as for bb not sold him at all but of course in this weak draft hes prolly gonna go top ten based on potential plus how weak the draft is

GMs and Scouts who talk to Ford hype players, Ford has said several times his Draft ratings and articles are based on what he hears from GMs and Scouts, the guy’s not a basketball guy, he just knows basketball people.

Just some minor correction regarding the profile: http://www.nbadraft.net/players/bismack-biyambo

He is NOT Ibaka’s countryman. Biyombo hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo while Ibaka is from the Republic of Congo which is a bordering country to Biyombo’s. BTW, Myck Kabongo is originally also from the DRC. Same goes for DJ Mbenga.
