Is an abosolute monster. Most dominating pure Center in country this year. That is all.

This is coming from a Cuse fan.  If he’s so dominant, then how come this game against St. Johns where he scored 14 points was his career high?  He’s a great presence down low and he is the anchor for the team, but most dominant center in the country?  Errr. He’s not Shaq dude.

Are you all serious? Do you even watch college bball? Do you even see the difference between cuse with /without him? Have you seen that not 1 big guy has done anything against us? Its not all about numbers syracuse has 8 scorers if you cant open your eyes and see fabs impact then idk what to tell ya we are #1 team in country for a reason. Fab is better than the Center on the team any of you who responded like and the only person u could argue is overrated anthony davis

Getting so sick of ridiculous UK love. They r talking bout AD and MKG as possible POY and 1st team all americans when they average 13 & 10 and 13& 7…umm carmelo averaged 22 and 10 in the big east and won the ship and made 2nd team all american , and paul harris averaged 14 & 8 n never made anything. Just something to consider. Also, harrison barnes =kris joseph…their games are so similar

I’m afraid I must have missed this ridiculous Uk love? Certainly isn’t any in this thread, and if you’re talking about in the national media, I disagree completely. Davis and MKG are the real deal and they bring so much more to the game than what shows up in the box scores. Melo is a nice player and the team is better with him but he is far from being the best C in the country.

There is NO way he is any worse than top 5 so Idk how he is "far" from being the best in the country. As for UK, im not saying they are not good players and will not be good pros, because I think they will be. What Im saying is that Carmelo was obviously the real deal too, and neither Davis nor MKG would be getting anywhere NEAR this type of love if they played for SU. Im sorry but 13 & 7 as a potential 1st team all american??? Am i missing something? So both of those guys are more valuable than ANYONE on the best team in the country which has never lost with a full team? I don’t buy it … ESPN and other outlets just consistently blow Kentucky because they have the largest following. I know sports I play sports in college basketball and baseball I know what I’m talking about. Fab is a beast and has gotten better every game he does everything as well or better than any C in the country his impact on each and every game is MONUMENTAL. Davis averages more blocks because he plays more but I guarantee Fab distrubts more per game and is the best Pick/roll center in the country. Without Fab our offense doesnt go, and hes a defensive player! Open your minds people, laidher! Oh yah, and Dion is better than anybody on any ya teams lol #orangenation

And both of them have already moved all the way into the teens from being undrafted and are only going higher. I doubt you’ll say "sorry you were right" when you realize i was right.

He makes a big difference on the defensive end, and certianly a guy any college team would love to have, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.  He is an imposing lane presense, but he’s a 7 footer who averages 5 rebounds per game.

I think Gorgui Deng is a better pure C, Andre Drummond is raw but a better more athletic version of Melo, Meyers Leonard is better.  He doesn’t translate to an NBA player as well as Melo, but I’ve watched WSU quite a bit and Garrett Stultz is a better collegiate center.

Honestly how many SU games have you seen this year? Fab has dominated every game in one way or another…i understand what you are saying, but i disagree. Fab would average 15 a game if he didnt have such a ridiculous team its crazy how much his offensive game has improved. Just something to think about, wr are an infinitely better rebounding team with h. He creates many many rebounds that we dont get without him. Whether it is from blocked/disruptive shots, taking up space, or keeping ball alive for someone else, 5 rpg is tremendously misleading. I will agree to disagree because i honest to god believe hes had as effective year as any C

Umm so what does being obviously the most important player on the best team in the country make you? Apparantley bad according to you haters lol doesnt make any sense to me but if you all say so

I’ve seen 3 or 4 SU games this season.  I love guys like Melo who influence the game on the defensive end, but from what I’ve seen he’s really raw on the offensive end.  Yes, he can hit a jumper, but he lacks consistancy and isn’t going to burn you if you leave him open.  He’s improved a lot, no doubt, but I’d agree that he is ONE of the most dominant defensive paint presences in the NCAA, but not the most dominant overall center.

You’re right he does a lot of things that don’t show up in the stat book, but I think you’re right.  We’ll have to agree to disagree, because I feel his overall body of work doesn’t put him ahead of other centers who pull down 8 or 10 boards and score over 10 ppg and effect the game in the paint the same way Melo does.

Allright, nobody said Melo was bad. Just because people dont think he is the best C in the country, doesnt mean he is bad. Hes starting for a top 5 team in the nation and clearly makes them better. I will not dispute that for a second. But lets try to be unbiased. How many Illinois, Ohio St, Gonzaga, UConn, UNC and others have you watched.

One argument can be made that he is on a super deep team that doesnt allow him to shine, but another would be maybe hes on a super deep team that hides his deficiencies, he is allowed to do what he does well because he is surrounded by such good players. And of the teams that Syracuse has beaten, how many of them had post players that anybody knows? How many of them have all conference caliber post players? I havent watched Cuse enough to really make that assessment but I have seen 3 or 4 games as well, and the best big that they played was Patric Young, who at this point is more a physical specimen on the boards than a legitamate talent inside.

Look man, I got nothing against Fab Melo, he certainly has come a long long way since last season and looks like a completely different player (literaly and figuratively) and could open some NBA eyes if he continues to progress, but to say he is the most dominant C in the country right now is just silly and something a narrow minded fan who only watches "his team" says.

I watch every team in the country the difference between him and anthony davis is way less than it is made out to be. Patric young, herb pope are probably the best 2 and he shut them both down. I guess what im saying is his presence changes syracuse from a top 20 team to the best team in the country. The difference between syracuse the whole season and the 3 games he missed is staggering. He affects almost every play offensivley and defensively in some way or another, and anchors the most dominant defense in the league. You can disagree but theres no way my initial statement is far off

Ive seen henson zeller anthony davis play a million times the only one whos better is anthony davis and honestly its only because hes a different type of player. I take fab in a match of pure centers with him maybe 4 out of 7 days a week. Literally nobody scores in the paint nooooboooodyy he might have the quickest 2nd jump in country whatever every1 nationally has hated on cuse allll year no respect and its just silly we arent still number 1. Why would this be any different…let me guess we arent the most athletic team in the country too? Please please please some1 tell me we are not i will laugh at u for 3 houra

"If there was a statistic for shots altered, Fab Melo would be at the top. I can’t emphasize how much his interior presence means to the Orange, both on offense and defense." so shut up you haters
