Fab Melo

"If there was a statistic for shots altered, Fab Melo would be at the top. I can't emphasize how much his interior presence means to the Orange, both on offense and defense." -nbadraft.net

I know how much everybody on this forum loves to disrespect him and his abilities, so I am just sharing this. Go Orange

@HiBen, don't be a j3rk,

@HiBen, don't be a j3rk, Anthony Davis doesn't count because he'll still block the shot after it's altered. Nothing can escape Anthony Davis' reach.

But yeah Fab Melo and if frohawk do scare a lot of shots away from the paint. I hope he stays another year because he can really turn into a special defensive C if he does.

I think Melo should come out

I think Melo should come out now before the zone mentality becomes too ingrained and he carries the bad habits into his pro career.

Glad to see he bounced back from an underwhelming freshman season to turn it around and could be a steal outside of the lottery. I hope ATL picks him up so they can finally put Horford at the 4 spot.

I think that is Melo has a

I think that is Melo has a decent NCAA tourney which he should, he has to come out. Their are not many centers in the upcoming draft and the NBA is lacking Centers so he would almost certain be a top 10 pick. He could probably move up to top 5 with good workouts.

And that is a bad decision waiting to happen.

I seen Melo play every game

I seen Melo play every game this year. He's not a top 10 pick man, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him go first round. He doesn't have much upside, nor does he have much offensively to provide to a NBA team. At best, I think he's a guy who could play 10 seasons in the NBA as a big body defender and maybe a average rebounder off the bench.

Seems like omphalos said my

Seems like omphalos said my words before I could. Fab Melo is heavily dependent on zone and that I think will no doubt be a struggle for him going into the next level the more he stays the more that zone becomes more comfortable and more driven into his head.

Also I can't see any person I'd rather have them draft, a defensive center who can block shots and run the floor? That's like a dream for this franchise, the Hawks are at the point where they don't need any young talent they just need a PIECE, and in my eyes that piece is Fab Melo.

I don't think disagreeing is

I don't think disagreeing is "hating" and not thinking he is the best C in the country isnt "hating"

Melo is a nice player who is a big part of what Cuse does. His efforts in the middle allow all of their perimeter guys to push up further on the outside and the only way people are really going to beat them are if they are making 3's 5 to 10 feet off the 3 pt line or beat them down the floor and seeing as how Cuse doesnt turn the ball over a great deal that isnt likely.

I think Melo can be a serviceable big man in the league, but thats more of an indictment on what serviceable big men have become in today's NBA. He will set screens, run to the rim, block a few shots, grab boards, and dunk. Thats not enough for me to spend a top 10 pick on, but if I'm in that 15 to 20 range I'd pull the trigger without hesitation.

Melo... nice NBA future ?

Many are critical of Melo's game and future. I think Melo will be a fine NBA center .(would be a good fit for Miami or the Hawks.) He's a legit seven feet, athletic and runs the floor extremely well.( a good defender and shot blocker). Some are stating their are not many centers in the upcoming draft... just exactly how many legit centers are in todays NBA?

He's just too raw

I think Melo is as good as Anthony Davis in the defensive category, but he's just so raw offensively, it's going to be a few years before he develops a serviceable offensive game.

Plus his basketball IQ is not very high. He reminds me of JaVale McGee.

Melo just hit a jumpshot at the top of the key early in the game against Uconn.

And he just hit another from

And he just hit another from 18 feet in the right corner. Scary thing is he shrugged it off like hes done it a thousand times. If Melo gets or even has a consistant jumpshot that Jim Bohiem isnt letting him take his stock really rises.

Melo reminds me of a more athletic Nasr Mohammed.

Thabeet went number 2 and at

Thabeet went number 2 and at worst was not expected to fall out of the top 7 but I am wrong to say that Melo could be top 5 if his workout and NCAA numbers are solid. Dude has legit size, decent athleticism. He can already block shots at a NBA level. Big men take a minute to develop so some team will take him early expected him to break out in 2 to 3 years.

I don't understand how what I said is not logical and makes perfect sense. His stock probably shot up when he was out and people saw how much Syracuse missed him. If he stay around too long, his stock could probably drop. This may be his best chance at going top 5 or at least top 10. Do people really think GM's are going to pass up a big man like Melo when you got Roy Hibbert making the all Star game and he is just and alright center.
