sitlbitoParticipantIt’s getting serious! Two games today:Spain-Greece(must watch) at 12.30 pm followed by France-Latvia at 3 pm eastern time. France at home and after their Saturday blow out against Turkey, should prevail and advance. Spain-Greece is much more wide open though, and should be a physical game.

sitlbitoParticipantIf I had to bet real money(which I actually did),I’d say Greece. They’re undefeated, they play well,Spanoulis is great whenever he wants to. Even Bourousis who was out of the Real Madrid rotation this year is playing extremely well. Not even mentionning Calathes who hits threes like he never did before,Kosta Koufos being the usual underrated player he always was,and Giannis is still Giannis, even hitting threes now as well. Greece has more depth, had better results, played better until now,but Spain has Pau Gasol and huge experience, and that maybe enough. Again,I’d bet on Greece.but it should be noted that Spain lost 2 games in pool play, against teams that are in the quarter finals(Serbia and Italy). Greece is the only team left from their group. Fascinating matchup.

trelos6ParticipantYes, we beat USA, but Spain had no PAU and we got destroyed in that final.

King CaluchaParticipantGiannis is being disruptive on defense. Koufos is keeping up with Gasol. This is going to be a great match.

cargathusParticipantHad two big travel calls in the 4th quarter. Otherwise a great game so far. Hopefully he trains on his fundamentals (his feel for the game is great, but his footwork could use some practice). Like everyone else, I’m really excited for how he develops.

sitlbitoParticipantSpain 73-71 Greece! Spain started off extremely well, led 39-32 at halftime,Greece came back and led by 4 at the end of the third, but a 11-2 run in the fourth sealed the deal, even if Greece had an almost great comeback. Giannis was great with some clutch rebounds, but travelled pretty badly, especially on that spin move. Gasol was a beast again,27 points and making it look easy. Spain will face the winner of France-Latva(actually,should face France,AGAIN).

sitlbitoParticipantBy the way,as Canada will play in a olympic qualifying tournament,Greece could be one of the teams they would face . That’s the reason why they should have beaten Venezuela.

sitlbitoParticipantFrance 84-70 Latvia. After leading only 40-38 at the half, thanks to 4 consecutive jumpers by Parker,France started the second half on a 7-0 run and blew this game open. It will be the 7th consecutive summer where France will face Spain, and the 6th in 7 years where the teams will face in an elimination game(2010 being the exception where they only faced in group play). Tony Parker had 18 but on 5/17 shooting,Boris Diaw had 14,De Colo continued his terrific eurobasket with 11,7 and 5. France-Spain thursday at 3 pm eastern.

King CaluchaParticipantLol I almost bet on that line but I went for Greece’s victory at halftime, which was paying really well. Greece almost turned it around. I don’t feel too bad about losing that money, it was a great great game.
