Greek-Baller1- Lebron is the obvious choice
2- Durant, what has Davis done to be number 2? seriously I love his potential, but right now, Durant is still ahead
3- Westbrook, He’s a triple double threat everynight, he does everything.
4- CP3-Best point guard hands down, sorry Curry, Cp3 has the edge on defense and passing
5- Curry- Maybe the greatest shooter of all time.

DukeDaSquadParticipantMy personal top 5 for the upcoming season is Durant, Curry, Davis, Westbrook, Harden
This is barring Injury and of course factoring in the fact that lebron will be coasting throughout the regular season

AnuParticipantAccording to you, if LeBron can coast and still be in consideration for MVP during the regular season ummmm that definitely makes him waaaaaay better than anyone on your list.

DukeDaSquadParticipantI stand by my opinion because it is MY opinion. you calling me retarded for not putting lebron in my top 5 is not gonna make me change MY opinion even though i thought i put a valid reason why he wasn’t in there. He has coasted the last couple of regular seasons so I dont think its that big of a shock…
Plus if you look at the mvp voting last year, the top 5 except for lebron are western conference players that are all younger than him and are all expected to make bigger leaps in their games than James is expected to make. Also these players arent allowed to coast in the western conference…
Finally, Durant is returning and hes been talking like he has something to prove. He was really good last year even when he was playing on a bad foot…

NBAjunkie81Participant& I’m sure most people do… Lebron returned to Cleveland b/c the situation in Miami – b/c of Wade’s health – was breaking down Jame’s body… That first year in Cleveland he almost seemed like a basketball General Contractor where he laid out the game plan & the goals and the thinking was to allow Irving, Love, Thompson, Shumpert & the other players to get their shine during the regular season; do the heavy lifting & then when April rolled around, Lebron would be fresh physically & mentally to make a serious championship drive thru May & June…
Lerbon is still considered the #1 player in the League (right now – not building a team) by most – if not All – GM’s but I understand where you are coming from…. In terms of MVP voting, it’s an award based on performance in the regular season, so I can see where Davis, Curry, Harden & either Durant or Westbrook (if Durant can’t stay healthy) could finish ahead of LeBron on a list of who had the best year…
I would still put Lebron # 1, but I liked reading a different POV on the Subject & you made a good case… & like you said it is Your opinion – if we all had the same opinion – it would be boring as Uck reading thru the posts….

OhCanada-ParticipantAnthony Davis is a bit overrated to be ahead of guys like Curry, Durant, Harden, Westbrook and Paul so casually in my opinion. It wouldnt upset me to see him higher than a few guys here and there on a few peoples Top 5 lists yet you generally see him ranked Top 3 and I think he is the 7th best player right now behind those 5 and Lebron. I mean the guy is an amazing player that impacts the whole game yet he hasn’t proven to be unstoppable like those guys or able to carry his team to a playoff series victory. The potential is limitless but the success is not yet proven.

tuck243Participantover the stretch of a season. He gets his points within the offense where ISO ball or plays called for him isn’t the bulk of his scoring. I just think it’s dumb given that and the lack of success he’s had over his career to put him above a lot of other proven players. It’s premature and I hate that about the "blog/forumn" basketball world. Especially this site. We’re ready to deem someone the best this or that, because it’s the "new thing to say" when in fact that player hasn’t proved himself on a yearly basis yet. We’ve seen this with Blake Griffin and the year before last with Paul George. Hell, I remember the arguments about KG back in the day. I argued on this site multiple times that you can’t automatically rank someone ahead of another player because he has better intangibles.
Every player in the NBA can go off for 30+ points on any given night. IT’S THE NBA… These guys are really good. So, when you start comparing players that are within the same output bracket (star or role player) you have to put consistency into the equation. How often has he been doing this? Are these numbers winning games or just empty? Can he be counted on when no one else can get theirs? All these are questions that can’t be answered when the guy in question played in one playoff series. Or scored 20 points for the first time in his career. I get it… You want to be excited about his potential to be the best in the game (or ever), but he hasn’t proved enough to garner those things said about him. Period…
Because if Anthony Davis is the player yall said he is then he would have LeBron type effects on a team. The Cavs with only Kyrie was competing for the #1 pick yearly. The same with the Wolves with Kevin Love. Granted the Pelicans have been injured, but Anthony SHOULD be able to make them a middle of the pack playoff team if he’s the player yall say he is currently. The issue is he’s not, YET. So, relax…

tuck243Participantfrom the past 10 years. Players before him managed to be middle of the pack playoff teams. Melo was in the West and went to the playoffs since his Rookie season. If you replace LeBron or KD with Anthony Davis the Pelicans are at LEAST a top 5 team in the West. Period… If he was on their teams they’re still a low playoff seed. But yet he’s a Top 3 player? (Some people think he’s #1)

nill650Participantespn sucks the entire ranking system sucks…the best pound for pound players regardless of what team they are on,regardless of what system they are in etc should be the ones ranked the highest…too many factors like how many rings cant be used unless you are only judging vets etc.
top 5 players that could remain at this ranking in any system …the one player that can elevate a team any team to a playoff run just by their presence alone:
1 James by far the best
2 Durant
3 Harden
4 Tony Parker
5 Mark Gasol

Rip256Blake Griffin – Top 5 player in the league and none of you can argue with that.
He’s on par with Anthony Davis at this point in time.
