On Tuesday we launched our first Lottery Mock Draft of the season after talking to representatives of virtually every team in the lottery to get their take on who they would take with the No. 1 pick. Now that the machine is up and running, we’re already getting a bit of feedback from NBA teams.

We’re hearing that we may have Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger and Arizona’s Derrick Williams a bit too low. Looks like we’ve got UNC’s Harrison Barnes a bit too high. We’ve adjusted that on our Big Board, but the Mock Draft is more about who teams might pick instead of just a ranking of the top players.   But the message is clear: It sounds like NBA teams are valuing production more than upside right now. That tends to change when players get into individual workouts — but for now, Sullinger and Williams are getting big bumps for having great seasons.

I just CANNOT believe Jimmer is a top 14 guy.

Man, I can’t believe Jimmer going 12 would be that big of a shock when we’ve seen countless times where guys similar in situation go that high in weak drafts such as JJ Redick, Trajon Langdon,Bobby Hurley, Mateen Cleaves, Acie Law III, etc. ADAM MORRISON AT 3!!!! That should be a crime. Jimmer has actually shown he will at the very least be a guy who can light it up off the bench, handle some, and finish inside. In today’s NBA where shooting and bench scoring are so highly praised, a guy like Fredette is deservedly going that high. You know what you’re getting out of the guy.

Hensons on the list Because thats where the NBA scouts think he will go if he declares. Its all about potential with this kid although i dont think he’s gonna be much more than a role player at best in the NBA

Henson has improved, i like him mid first round IN THIS DRAFT. But gosh, seeing Fredette and Leonard that high speaks volumes to how weak it really is. These guys were basically nobodies (as far as the draft goes, obviously everyone knew fredette since last season) and now they are lottery picks.

    No Alec Burks? jk.

Henson is worst then those other two. He’s weak, can’t creat his own shot, cant handle well enough to play the three and not strong enough to play the four. Another case of a guy who’s athletic and long with little skill. He’s the type that will get a GM fired if he is drafted high

Eh, I seen AK47 comparisons for Henson and this season, he hasn’t played terrible. In fact, he’s still skinny and yet, he’s improved alot from what I seen.

However, I think D. Williams and Barnes will go up and Walker and Fredette will drop when we review this closer to the end of the NCAA season. Also, I expect Cory Joesph, Alex Oriaki, Kris Joesph and Jordan Williams all to be on this top 20 list by seasons end.

His game is nothing like AK though. not sure why anyone would compare them, then again if someone has the same body type people tend to compare.

    I understand it though.

Henson would be the SF is Barnes wasn’t there. He’s shown to be a good shot blocker, he provides points off rebounds and he’s capable of getting a solid amount of rebounds for a team. He’s not a great man to man defender yet but can improve and he’s a below average passer is reasons I can understand why your’e skpetical.

I like him. I personally think he’s good but not lotto high

They tried the Henson at SF position last year remeber?..It had very bad results. Handles were bad, bunch of turnovers, Couldn’t create and had a hard time checking SF, Thats why they moved him back to PF

Yea I remember, but in spot mintues this season, I seen him improved. I think he’s still gonna have problems doing that, but it’s something to take a chance on.

They also moved him to PF because Ed Davis got hurt. Remember, this is his 3rd year playing in the post.

That and he isn’t a Small forward. Maybe one day he can be one but he’s far from being one right now. No jumper and below average handles equal not a SF.

    Maybe one day

Those 3 words are the single reason why he’s that high.

Exactly. I think he can become like AK which is probably why people compared him to AK. I think its a risk if you are a bad team but if you are a team that has time to develop him its a good pick that high

Vassely and Henson needs to switch spots, and Brandon Knight and Ferdette needs to switch spots also, then this Mock would look much better.

Henson kinda reminds me of Anthony Randoplh as both are long tall athlethic lanky guys who are valued because they have soo much potential but never seem to get close to reach, I hope Henson does but I doubtful.

Can’t say this draft class is weak until after their rookie seasons *at least*.I feel there are at least 5 players that to me look as if they could be something really special, and a bunch others who I think will also be really nice players.

Really? You see 5 special prospect in this class? The only 2 players i see that has potential to be special is Kyrie and Perry Jones, and even they are not safe picks and have questions. The rest are just average to good prospects, I dont see a great prospect in this class.

I’m curious because I think this is one of those 2000/2001 drafts

    – Loaded on future role players with a couple gems somewhere

If I had to say who I’d believe are special prospects, I’d go: Vesely, T.Jones, Barnes and Irving

Perry Jones is too soft for me.

Vala is a good, but I don’t know if he’s strong enough to be a starting NBA big like that. He seems a little weak and still will need to put on some lbs to be a starter. Could be a project or a instant starter.

Motie is overrated. I was saying that last season.

Don’t sleep on Cory Joesph and Kenneth Faried. I think if Joesph continues his pace, he could be the 2nd pg in this draft. Faried is a rebounding monster. With Blair playing well, someone will buy on him.
