Played 25 mins scoring 24 pts while dishing out 7 assists. He played aggressively to ending up with 14 ft's making 12 of them. I know it was agaisnt the Bobcats but still a very solid performance and must feel great for him given all the health issuses and free agency problems. One of my favourite players when he is playing, so what do u think this means for the team. Rivers finally gets less minutes or do they cut into Vasquezs minutes to play him some more at the point? Im just really interested to see how how much more open the paint will be with Gordon attracting more attention while having Ryan Anderson on the court as well, should have a really positive impact on A. Davis
How about MKG. he looked really good he finished with 22 points, and 9 rebounds. That was the first time I really saw him because I dont have league pass and the bobcats are never on national tv. He played really hard and hustled. he made a couple jumpers. He was just the player the bobcats needed. He is definitely a winner. The bobcats played hard, kemba walker is definitely a solid starting point guard in the NBA. If the bobcats can play as hard as they did in the first half then there is definitely hope for them.
The one aspect of Gordon's game that has developed nicely since entering the league is his passing... Guy's like Ryan Anderson and Vasquez, when he plays off the ball and some SF when they go small ball, will benefit nicely with EJ breaking down defenses...
But to answer your question,Rivers will probably see a drastic reduction in minutes once EJ gets in game shape and is moved back into the starting line-up. I think Austin only played like 13 mins tonight...
For his first game in eight months, Eric Gordon looked very good. His jump shot was off, but that'll come back once he gets his legs under him. He was able to make plays off of the dribble consistently down the stretch of this game.
Austin Rivers is about to see a dramatic decrease in playing time and he should. He's not very good at this point.
Nice to see Gordon back and healthy, he's the 4th best SG in the NBA when healthy by my estimation, and could pass Harden if he can get a solid run of games in. Might be too late to save the Hornets this season, but will be a good growth year for New Orleans having him healthy and playing.
Austin will see his minutes decrease. not like he was makin the most out of them... Eric Gordon will improve this team alot!
In 2011 New Orleans was 21-45 for a winning percentage of .318. In the 9 games Eric Gordon played N.O. was 6-3.
Prior to tonights game N.O. was 6-21. Another win with Gordon in the lineup bringing his N.O. record to 7-3.
It would seem that Gordon gives an otherwise below average team a fighting chance in most games.
so he played 9 of 66 games... that doesnt seem like he gives anybody a fighting chance... dont get me wrong, hes got loads of talent, but how many games has he played in the last 2 years...
also in 2011 if you look at his stats.. those games that they won with gordon were against some bad teams(at the time)... phoenix, utah, houston, minny, houston.... they still lost games to the spurs, clippers, and sixers...
I think he will definitely cut into Austin Rivers's minutes. Vasquez has been playing much better than Rivers, and that will allow a true PG to be on the court instead of splitting the PG duty between Rivers and Gordon, 2 SG's
As he has shown, when healthy, he is a dynamic scorer who can get the hole almost at will. Even though I am a Illinois basketball die hard, I hope for the kid to stay in good health and help to contribute to the Pelicans. Him and Ant Davis could be a top inside-outside combo in the league.
I'm just happy Eric Gordon has tightened up his handle and has learned to pass out of his drives to the basket. There was talk of playing him more at the point and having two ball handlers on the floor at all time eventually in him and Rivers, Rivers needs a lot of work but I like our guards better now. Mayve Rivers can learn from watching, instead of being thrown into the fire, and maybe Vasquez can get better shots and have less turnovers since Eric Gordon will be on the floor. As a fan and season ticket holder, I'm happy he's back and I'm happy we didn't do something stupid like trade him for Danny Granger.
As a Pacers fan and and season ticket holder, I'm disappointed the Hornets didn't do something stupid and trade him for Danny Granger lol.
There was another rumor out there about trading Gordon for Luol Deng... Both guys are coming off of knee injuries, but I'd still love to see Derrick Rose and Gordon in the same back court.
