 hope so, i drafted him in fantasy 🙂

but i actually really look forward to watching that new orleans team this year. Davis is an mvp candidate who works very hard on both ends. I got love for jrue holiday from being a bruin and for randle for being a laker and both those guys are fraction away from being all-star caliber players. Add in mirotic and payton who are two condidates for most improved and you got yourself one hell of a squad there.

It’s all about his defense for me. He’ll never be a high volume, efficient shooter from the outside.

That’s the one thing that frustrated me so much during his time in Orlando. He was billed as a defensive stopper, that could defend 1-3. He was extremely lackadaisical on that end of the floor, with a low motor & poor awareness. Just so surprising and disappointing.

He’s always been able to get into the lane & set up cutters / shooters, and he’s proved to be an above average rebounder for the position, and he’s pretty athletic laterally & vertically. But his defense has to be improved if he wants to secure a decent contract next offseason.

He is back home in new orleans though, plus he’s playing with a top 4 player in the league, and has better & more experienced shooters surrounding him. So maybe this is the year he puts it more together. We’ll see.

I think with rondo last year, pelicans want that kind of a pg who pass the ball all the time and athletic enough to guard other players, payton is that kind of a player, he is a good playmaker but only his outside shot is the problem, but wiht minutes in the pelicans and a chance to go to the playoffs I think he can improved dramatically
