Still a big time secret at the point guard position, this dude has been putting up numbers all season long. He put up a 34-11-11-5 — the first in 18 years. On the year he’s averaging 20-5-6 with 2 steals. Though his jumpshot is shaky, the numbers are impressive. Started college early, so he’s junior from ’94…The media doesn’t cover him much, cause he plays against lesser competition, but what do y’all think of him? 6’3-6’4, 180-190lbs btw

I haven’t had a chance to check out the Ragin Cajuns this year but I definitely want to check them out. Looks like their on ESPN3 on January 25 and March 6.

From a statistical standpoint, Elfrid Payton looks great even if he plays in the Sun Belt (the box scores show he did play well against Baylor and ok against Louisville.)

And while we are talking about Payton and Louisiana-Lafayette, does anyone have any info on Shawn Long? He’s a 6’9 245lb sophomore for the Ragin Cajuns, averaging 21.5 and 11.1 on 56% from the field, 41% from three, and 62% from the stripe. Just from a numbers standpoint he looks just as intriguing as Payton, but I’ll let someone with more knowledge fill me in on their games.

I agree, Shawn Long has been just as impressive. It’s unfortunate that there is a lack of info available on these two talents…especially considering the fact that Payton was a starter alongside Marcus Smart, Sulaimon, Jahill Okafor, Aaron Gordon, Montrezl Harrel and others on the U19 USA Men’s team this past summer.
