The Orlando Magic are fading fast and Dwight Howard wants to see a change – immediately. Not a change in personnel, though that wouldn’t hurt, Howard wants to see more intensity, urgency and effort from his talented, yet underperforming team.
“I’m not singling anyone out and I’m not calling anyone out. But as a team we’re going to lose every night if we don’t play hard,” Howard said.
“If guys don’t want to play they got to sit down. We can’t have guys out there not playing hard. We’re professional athletes and this is what we do for a living. If you can’t get out there and go hard for two hours then you shouldn’t be playing.”
Howard was understandably upset after the Sacramento Kings beat his Magic 111-105 at the Amway Center. The five-time All-Star was great, scoring 31 points and grabbing 17 rebounds, double-double number 45 on the season.
His effort, however, wasn’t matched by his teammates and Howard wasn’t happy about it. He’s grown tired of talking about the team’s lackluster performances this season and he’s not open to hearing excuses.
Howard wants guys to step up and play at a championship level.
“I’ve said everything there is to say,” he said. “I’ve talked every timeout, during the huddle and in the locker room; do you want me to tweet about it?
“I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do as a leader. Everybody on the team has to step up and play hard. It’s simple; hard for 48 minutes. If you mess up, miss a million shots, it will all equal out if you’re playing hard. If you just out there BSing around, you won’t get anything done. We can’t play like this if we’re going to be a championship team.”
Howard hasn’t lost faith in the talent of the team. In fact, he still thinks they’re one of the league’s most talented. Howard knows talent alone won’t get the Magic back to the Finals.
“We have a lot of talent, but talent will not get you a championship,” Howard said. “When you get to the Finals both teams have talent. Hard work and commitment on every play, every night is what gets you a championship.”
“We’re one of the most talented teams in the NBA; we have guys that can do a lot of different things. But if we don’t bring it every night it’s just a waste of talent.”

darkman97ParticipantAlong with CP3, Dwight Howard will be the next star to leave their team. If the Nets can keep DWill in tow then Dwight will probably join there with CP3 either going to the Knicks or Clippers.

The lake show2Jalen Rose said Dwight Howard may be laying down the foundation for his departure, He’s been saying things to the media every so often so when the time comes no one will think its out of left field that he wants to leave. And we do know that one of the spots he is interested in is the Lakers!!!.. I’m not holding my breath just saying.
