If I were Orlando I would send him to the Bobcats for the first pick, if they get it.

Tyrus Thomas plus Corey Magette plus Anthony Davis would be a good value for Dwight Howard.

This would be the first part of the trade:

Assuming Bobcats get the first pick they would send that to Orlando.  The ‘cats get a superstar to go with Biyombo, Kemba Walker, and Gerald Henderson.

The Magic get a new star to build around.

dont be delusional, dwight will either stay, go to the Nets, Lakers or Mavs or any other possible contender.

Thats assuming we are getting the same Dwight next year, discs injuries are not forgiving.

If Charlotte wins the lottery and chooses to trade the #1 pick, why would they send it to Orlando to rent Dwight Howard for one year? Youre essentially giving up a franchise player in Davis, Maggette who is a servicable player when healthy, and a throw in player in Thomas to get Howard, a player who would not even entertain the thought of signing with one of the worst teams in NBA history to a long term contract.

Because then Chris Paul can sign as a Free Agent there the next year when he is out of contract with the Clippers. THen you have Paul and Howard in CHarlotte owned by MJ.

     1. give up Davis if they get him.

    2. Trade him for Dwight

    3. Try to get Paul, they are aware thats kind of impossible.

    4. Hire you as consultant JK;)

The Magic need to trade Dwight. The longer they wait, the less they will be able to get via trade. When everyone knows that a player wants out, then other teams know that they can steal them. (i.e Lamar Odom).

I said "if I were Orlando".

If I were running the Magic I would try to get Anthony Davis for Dwight Howard.  Or any other young star.  They shouldn’t roll the dice and gamble that Dwight resigns with them.

I think that Orlando HAS to trade him.  There’s no way they can get equal value for him (unless they get Bynum) so what they need to try to do is get some good young players, high draft picks, and an expiring contract or two to make the numbers work.

Another trade that might be semi-decent is this one for Orlando:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=d8h772w

Chicago gets: Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu, and Quentin Richardson

Orlando gets: Joakim Noah, CJ Watson, Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler, Rip Hamilton, Ronnie Brewer, the 29th pick, and a future first rounder.

Orlando gets some value for Dwight Howard, plus they get rid of Hedo’s really bad contract, and Q Richardson’s kinda bad contract.  Orlando does get a solid, defensive minded center in Noah who can rebound, block shots, defend, and provide energy.  Taj Gibson is a nice young power forward who can also give you energy and rebounding, but also dunks and great athleticism.  CJ Watson is a servicable point guard, and a perfect backup to Jameer Nelson.  Jimmy Butler is young, cheap, and has potential.  He could be a pretty good asset for the future.  Rip Hamilton is the veteran scorer here.  He might be a little older than what they want, but not bad if they consider it to be a Q for Rip swap.  Ronnie Brewer is a solid wing defender and offers some depth there.  Decent option off the bench.  … at 29 the Magic could get a solid piece.  Maybe Draymond Green or Will Barton if they want to reach.  Or Fab Melo if he falls.  John Jenkins would be a good young shooter too.  … the future first rounder might not turn into much, but who knows if D Rose comes back to full strength.  If not, it could be a solid pick.

Add that to Ryan Anderson, Big Baby Davis, JJ Reddick, Jason Richardson, and Jameer Nelson and that is a pretty good team — assuming they can keep Ryan Anderson.  Orlando is sending away $27 million in contracts and only getting back $27 million (not including the draft pick) so they might have some room to work with to resign Anderson.  If not they might be able to trade down and get a high 2nd rounder and cash for the 29th pick.

Chicago gets a super star center to go with Derrick Rose.  Rose, Howard, and Deng form a great Big Three but give up most of their depth.  Boozer, Korver, and John Lucas III are Chicago’s main role players now, but they do have some Euro guys coming over.

I think that this trade works for both teams, especially if the Magic can resign Ryan Anderson for a relatively good value, and then go out and get a solid free agent either this year or next.

The new Orlando Magic would look like this:

    Starters:

    PG:  Jameer Nelson

    SG:  JJ Reddick

    SF:   Ryan Anderson

    PF:  Big Baby Davis

    C:   Joakim Noah

    Bench:

    PG:  CJ Watson

    SG:  Rip Hamilton, DeAndre Liggins

    SF:  Jason Richardson, Jimmy Butler

PF:  Taj Gibson, Earl Clark, Justin Harper

    C:    Daniel Orton

The Magic could build a team around depth, and solid players at every position, similar to how the Indiana Pacers are set up.  They have some young players on young contracts who they could easily move if they wanted to add more draft picks or turn those young players into a solid role player.  This new Magic team could easily go 9 deep with a 20-10 guy possibly in Ryan Anderson, a defensive/rebounding center in Noah, solid point guards in Nelson and Watson, scoring on the wings and from 3 in Reddick, Rip, and J Rich, plus two nice young power forwards in Big Baby and Taj Gibson.  They could either resign Daniel Orton cheap or go out and get another center, either in the draft or in free agency.
