Dwight Howard Says He Had His First Sip of Alcohol Ever When He Got Traded to the Lakers
Dwight Howard says he doesn’t drink. And, we believe him. There are plenty of athletes out there who don’t drink because they want to do everything they can to keep themselves in tip-top shape. But, Howard did just admit that he slipped up over the summer after finding out that he got traded to the Lakers and enjoyed his first sip of alcohol ever as a result of it.
"Dwight has never been drunk in his life," ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported on his Twitter page late yesterday. "In fact, he’s only had one alcoholic drink in his 26 years: a celebratory shot of CIROC…with his friends when the Lakers trade became official this summer."
Wait, so Howard went 26 years without drinking a single drop of alcohol and then decided to break the ice with a shot of straight vodka? Yikes. We bet that celebration went well.

y3koayouParticipant“Yeah, I feel pretty good about this Hornets team,” Gordon said. “We’re a young and upcoming team. We definitely got a lot of new players, so we’ve got to build the chemistry and growth since we’ve got a lot of young players, but I think we’re going to be fine.”

y3koayouParticipant“It’s been great,” Davis told HOOPSWORLD of his first NBA preseason and training camp. “Just got to keep working hard. It’s been tough on us, tough on me especially because of guys coming after me. I got to learn how to play through that and move onto the next game.

y3koayouParticipantHowever, in the NBA it is often said that one team’s trash is another team’s treasure. Two days after he was released by the Spurs, New York Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald signed Novak off the waiver wire. It was Novak’s fifth NBA team since being selected in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft.t3434

y3koayouParticipantFrom out of the league, to a stint in the D-League, to waiver-wire fodder, to a key contributor on a playoff team, to a lucrative long-term contract… all within eight short months.
Despite his success last season, and his freshly inked multimillion dollar contract, Novak was adamant in declaring his belief that continued success would only result if he approached each practice and each game as if his NBA livelihood was still on the line.vsfdasdu6567

y3koayouParticipantIn addition, Novak also acknowledged that he’d have to continue to improve and expand his game if he wanted to be effective in the future.
“I think defenses are going to know my strengths and run me off the three-point line and do that kind of thing,” Novak explained. “This summer, I definitely put an emphasis on being able to put the ball on the floor. One or two dribbles, using my shot fake more; just understanding how defenses are going to play me.vbsgfdsf

y3koayouParticipantBuilding something special in Cleveland will require the handful of remaining veterans to sacrifice and play outside of their comfort zone so young players like Tristan Thompson and Zeller can grow. Fortunately for Varejao, he can play both center and power forward and once he gets used to playing at the four spot again, Varejao should be able to provide veteran support to all of the Cavaliers’ young big men.

baozaokeParticipantFriday night, against the Charlotte Bobcats, Curry netted similar numbers with 11 points, seven rebounds and a hefty three blocks. Granted, this is the preseason and last night’s game was against the Bobcats, but for an injured Mavericks team, Curry might have played his way into a roster spot.
