What team do you think would be the best situation for him?

If Hassan Whiteside leaves Miami, I think Dwight Would be a good replacement. With Pat Riley in his ear and some good big man coaches and the other leadership from the team verterans I think we could see a bit of resurgance.

I say Dallas. I don’t mind him in Miami though if Whiteside indeed does leave but Dwight will have more chances to be the man in Dallas and the fact that Chandler Parsons is recruiting him there will only strengthen his fit there. Both teamsare good fits though.

Hoopshype and bleacherreport are both saying Howard is as good as gone. I don’t like the idea of heat going after Dwight, Horford would be better suited given the current make up of the team not to mention Howard wants 20-30 million a year.

BR is saying teams like Orlando, mavs, blazers and bucks are interested. Blazers are intriguing, with that backcourt and a center who can play defense and rebound at a high level they can pose a pretty good challenge. The Blazers have to find a starting pf and obtain some more depth as well before they take the next step.

I love the idea of Howard going to the bucks, really thought Henson would be starting by now but that clearly hasn’t happen. Whether him not developing as quickly as I thought he could or the fact that them signing Monroe was such a big mistake given that he didn’t fit the make up of the team. If Howard doesn’t let his ego get in the way and focuses on defense and rebounding this is the best fit for him. Bucks would have to meet his asking price no other choice (not for 30 million tho) maybe 75 over 3 years. With Giannis, Jabari and Middleton they have a great foundation. Hopefully Ennis can figure it out or they can draft a pg who can shoot and play defense since Giannis is the full time baller handler going forward. Bright future for the Bucks.

Thats just to much money to give Howard. A max contract would be way to much. At this point he is mostly a defensive center. His offensive game has disappeared. 15 Mil a year would be way more reasonable for his talents at this stage of his career.

If I was Portland’s GM I would Not let Dwight Howard anywhere near my team…… same goes for Orlando & Milwaukee……. too young & too impressionable young Locker rooms……

But I could see Dallas & Dwight being a decent marriage…….. Dallas Owner Mark Cuban might be the right kind of personality for Dwight….. but he might have friction w/ coach Carlyle….

The finances won’t work without a pay cut, but I think Dwight’s last chance of a ring, in a place where he might fit in, is OKC – huge upgrade over Stephen Adams, he might fit there culturally, and it could push a good team over the top.

Might also be good alongside Davis in New Orleans…or Indiana might be good at a reclamation project

Pat Riley is an alpha male personality, Dwight Howard is a Beta male in an Alpha males body.. They will clash for sure, the Reason LeBron left Miami is cause Bron would pout and Riley isnt trying to hear it.. Bron is another example of this

Where ever he ends up it will become a nightmare contract for that team.  When was the last time Howard was content?  He has chosen his last 2 teams and all he has done is regress as a player.  Any team that pays him more than 6 to 8 million will regret it.  His best days are behind but he isn’t aware of it and that becomes a problem for any team he plays for.

I think Dwight’s unhappiness has been overrated. He was traded to LA for one terrible season. Terrible because Kobe didn’t like him. He didnt like the shots Kobe took, he wanted more touches. He avg 17 and 12 after back surgery and playing with a torn labrum.

In Houston they have been fine until this season. This year they totally abandoned him in the offense. He avg the least shots he’s taken since his rookie season. Any player would be upset with that. I personally don’t see why people blame him for the problems with the teams. He wants touches. Over the last 2 seasons in the playoffs, he has been the Rockets beat player, but somehow he gets ALL OF THE BLAME. I just don’t see a player being happy if they were in his position.

I also understand he’s a bit upset, but history has shown that feeding Dwight in the post is not a recipe for success (read: winning rings). So if a teams signs Howard both sides should work on getting him better looks on offense, both the team (passing him the ball) and Howard (investing in his post work and FTs).

Dwight Howard no longer the player he was…. end of story.   It has nothing to do with Kobe or Harden!  He just isn’t the player he used to be. He aged… he had surgeries and now he’s not the player he once was.

Dallas is a good fit, although he could have gone there before but never did.  Surrounded by shooters, Howard could be very good there.

The Hawks, can’t rule them out, if Horford leaves then a center is needed.

Boston, Howard is a good fit there, he would solve some of their problems, and maybe cause some others.

A sign-and-trade to Cleveland, with LeBron as GM.  Mozgov and Love for Howard?

    Charlotte, has been mentioned.

Knicks, things like that do happen.

The best situation would, of course, be the Warriors.  All those 3s, nobody could double-team Howard.  Very unlikely.

So it is fit and salary cap space, and Howard’s nightmare decision making.  I will go with Dallas, Howard will save money on moving van costs if he goes there.

It would be interesting to see how Howard would fare in a similar situation and role do that of DeAndre Jordan. Howard is clearly no longer Orlando’s Superman and I pick and roll based offense would suit very nicely compared to a feed the post based offense with Dwight in the middle.

I think it will be interesting to see what kind of contract he gets. He will no doubt want a max deal, but he is 30 and hasn’t been the same player since he left Orlando and has struggled to stay healthy. He is still a game changer when motivated and healthy, but he’s not even close to the force he was in his prime. Whether you want to blame him for the situations in LA and Houston or not, the bottom line is hes a guy who has shown throughout his career that he struggles with adversity and loses his focus easily when things aren’t going well. With all the cap space floating around, somebody will probably pay him what he is looking for, but they could definitely end up regretting it.

Dwight is 30 now but he has played a lot more basketball and has more miles on the clock than say Al Horford who turns 30 soon. Also would any team be comfortable giving D12 a max deal where he is on some crazy money at 34/35 when he could be a really spent force.

I’ve always been a huge D12 fan but feel he has played his best ball, but he can still be an excellent defensive guy and score useful points, a better version of what Bogut is for GSW. Dallas or Miami both teams trying to compete now would make sense for him but he may want to be on a more legit contender but would need to accept less to go on one of them.

He may be looking for one more good pay day and could always hop onto a real contender in a few years time to chase a title.

If Dwight went to Dallas it’d be so ironic considering he wanted to build a super team of him and Deron Williams in Brooklyn before that fell apart. Now they’re both looking to revive thier careers in Dallas which was also a destination that they were rumored to team up in.

I think if the Bucks wanted to get their team looking like their defensive team from a couple years ago, I could see them signing Howard. However, this would only be plausible if Milwaukee traded Monroe (as he can’t defend PFs). What would be best for the Bucks is if Horford left Atlanta. Then Milwaukee and Atlanta could focus a trade around Monroe for Teague (as they have a young, up and coming PG behind him anyways). A Bucks starting lineup of Teague, Middleton, Giannis, Parker, and Howard doesn’t look too shabby.

    My order.

    1.Dallas.

    2.Miami, whiteside sub.

He’s a terrible leader, he needs to play in a veteran team, both are big market.teams with friendly taxes.

    3.Hawks, Horford sub…back home.

4, Boston, they could afford the gamble, a bad contract is still better than a bad trade, he could compete.

    5. Sign and trades, wizards….knicks…nets….bulls.

With talk of D12 being a decent fit at the  Bucks, would Monroe be of interest to Houston I wonder?

Monroe is nearly 5 years younger than D12 and is a skilled big man but would he fit Houston’s system. If he was of interest to Houston then an S and T with D12 going to the Bucks might be interesting.

Miami makes sense too as a lot of their roster are veterans and the team could be rebuilt in a few years time, so they go all in now but without mortgaging their future.

I’ll throw one more long shot out here. Charlotte Hornets are having their best season since the franchise waas re-established. Their head coach Steve Clifford worked with D12 at the Magic as did his lead assistant Pat Ewing who is credited with helping D12 really develop as a top player. With the Hornets on a high, might MJ try to land a really big name FA and D12 coiuld be an option. D12 would get the chance to play for MJ’S team and link up with coaches he knows. With MKG to return next season too, the Hornets could be a top 5 Eastern Team again potentially and it would be an interesting challenge for D12.
