Now Rose is my favorite player and LeBron is one my top 5 but people are really sleeping on D12 as an MVP candidate. He is absolutely beasting right now (28.4 ppg 14.8 rpg 2.7 bpg 65.4% shooting over his last 10). He is the reason Orlando is competitive. He called out his teammates not too long ago and he is leading by example on the court right now. If he can keep the Magic winning he definitely deserves a shot, Orlando is a pretty crappy team without him.

    My MVP list right now

    1. Derrick Rose

    2. Dwight Howard

    3. LeBron James

    4. Dirk Nowitzki

    5.Chris Paul

PS: Nash is really slept on too (I’d put him at 6), they keep winning games but that is not a very good team down in PHX right now.

IMO, this is my list right now

    • LeBron James
    • Dwight Howard
    • Derrick Rose
    • Chris Paul
    • Kevin Durant

I think LBJ should be MVP, but I know he has no shot winning it.

I think he should be the MVP.  He is playing incredibly, and his supporting cast is overrated.  It is amazing that a team that has given big minutes to Turkoglu, Anderson, Redick, Nelson, Duhon, and Arenas is the third best defensive team in the league.

The real MVP should be Tony Parker even if it hurts 🙂

He is the strongest player and the floorleader for the team with the best record. I know it kinda hurts to put him over Rose, LBJ, Dirk, Kobe and Wade because they have the numbers.

He isn’t even the Spurs best guard.  Manu takes the big shots, is a more versatile offensive player, and is a much better defender.  Parker’s numbers may look better than Manu’s, but Manu is more valuable.

isn’t it crazy how everyone was basically handing it to Amare earlier in the year, now he gets NO mention…. I’m not saying he should but its weird to me

    Parker – 17ppg, 6.6apg, 3.1 rpg in 32mpg shooting 52%.

    Ginobili – 18ppg, 5apg, 4rpg in 31mpg shooting 42%

So who is their best guard? How is Manu valuable when he is shooting 42%?? 42% is simply poor. If he would shoot 46%, okay we might discuss this but 42% disqualifies Manu. Sorry, he was my MVP before but 42% and 34 3PT% is not acceptable. And on the other hand Parker isn’t only shooting a good 48%, no he is shooting an outstanding 52%!!!

So like I said Parker should be MVP. Not because he is the best player, he isn’t even a top 10 player. But that’s not what the MVP award is about. The MVP goes to the best player from the team with the best record. I know it hurts a little to give it someone with 17-7 but that’s how it is.

Btw TP is only averaging 31mpg. Most of the MVP candidates average 38mpg. TP would have something like 22-8 with those minutes and that is close to Rose production.

MVP means most valuable player, not best player on the best team. That just seems to be a trend. Not a rule.

Maybe, most Journalist are so hyped about Rose anyways that he has big shot at making it, although I would still pick Dirk and Lebron over him, just for plain production. And I understand that trend, because wins are what count and not a double/double streak or big numbers. I wouldn’t mind LBJ or Dirk getting the MVP at all.

I remember a stat I read a few weeks ago. The Mavs +/- is +24 per 100 possesions with Dirk on the floor. He was leading the league in that stat by a wide margin. And he isn’t as big of a liabilty on D if there is tough match-up on the PF position, Chandler can usually take care of it, while Dirk defends the usually offensivly bad C.

All I know is that it’s going to be a tight race to the finish. There is LeBron, Rose and Howard all viable candidates to take home the MVP and players like Chrischi said in Dirk, Kobe and  Durant also have an outside shot.

With Howard play recently I think he’s top 2.  Durant hasn’t improved all his stats are down.  Its been Westbrook and Serge Ibaka’s improved play that have made the difference.

Of course without Lebron the Heat suck they have no SF, but without Wade the Heat suck too.  Its not like Wade scores 16 or 18 a night and his rebs and asts are up there too.  I’ll take Kobe over Durant in the MVP voting, outside of a few games I haven’t seen Durant be clutch down the stretch.  Dirk over Kobe because they have a better record and were awful without him.  Amare has to be near the top 5, he’s been the main reason the Knicks will be in the playoffs.  Also he’s been clutch, like his timely block on Lebron to preserve the lead Sunday vs. Miami.

Here’s my top 5 for the MVP

    Rose, Howard, Lebron, Dirk, Kobe

Parker doesn’t take 3’s less than 1 a game so his fg% is high and a lot of his shots are layups.

Ginobli takes almost 6  3’s a game almost half his shots so 34% isn’t that bad, his fg% on 2’s is 48% thats better than most SG’s.  Also Ginobli averages 5 asts a game, if you want to talk numbers Ginobli shoots 87% at the free throw line and gets there more than Parker.

Okay, I guess that kind of convinced me. If his 3PT% would be a little higher I guess it would be a no-brainer. Thx for the chat.
