Lotto StudParticipantAll the time we hear about players who are very athletically inclined & all they do is dunk. Since then I have seen a lot of dunkers in the NBA evolve their games & become pure shooters.
Who is your favorite dunker turned jump shooter?
I’m quite sure almost 90% of people on the forum will go with Vince Carter, but the one who has impressed me the most is Jason Richardson. J-Rich is a guy who I would have never evolved his game from a strictly dunker to a pure jump shooter who is consistent with knocking down the outside shot. I commend J-Rich a lot, because for him to have last this long he would have had to incorporate something else in his game than just being a highlight reel. When J-Rich came into the league in ’01 he shot .333% from 3 & .671% from the line, since then he has made a major improvement in shooting the ball. In ’08 with Charlotte he shot a career best at .458% from 3, now with Orlando he is shooting .402% from 3 & .761 from the line.

paint intruderParticipantIt’s gotta be Thunder Dan Majerle! He made it from being a dunking machine to become a deadly shooter.

ilike.panochasParticipantRichard Jefferson has quietly become one of the most reliable shooters, specially this season shooting 43% from the 3-PT line.

Counting StarsParticipantHe wasn’t just a dunker coming in, but Brent Barry did win the dunk contest and was a good shooter.

I’m talking about Pure dunkers who turned shooters, if this is the case you want to list Barry, anyone can make an arguement for J.R. Smith as one of the best.

Haha true. If you wanted to you could make a great case for Michael Jordan as well.
