So as we all know now john wall committed to kentucky and as a duke fan of course i am highly pissed off. i really thought we had a honest and legit shot at gettin the kid but of course we just couldnt reel him in. I am sure now that almost every duke fan has sum sort of animosity towards the kid but hey thats college basketball. but now to the real question: Who will seriously be able to contend with Kentucky if Jodie Meeks decides 2 come back 2 school? Could this possibly be one of the most dominant college teams of all time? give me your take.

Not if John Wall gets arrested again for breaking and entering 😛

But seriously, I think that they will be a formidable opponent. Remember though, a lot of college basketball’s best teams have much more returning talent (Duke, Michigan State, Michigan, Kansas, Clemson) than Kentucky. I also don’t think Meeks will come back because Wall and the other new guys will overshadow Meeks. Meeks was THE superstar last year and his stock won’t rise next year as a rotation player so my feeling is that he’ll stay in. That being said, Wall’s commitment to Kentucky is still HUGE.

As a fellow Duke fan I am fully aware that Duke is the greatest basketball program in our solar system and that Coach K is the best coach in the universe; however in the current college basketball environment of one year wonders, it doesn’t surprise me that Wall opted to follow the crowd of big time recruits at John Calipari’s new one-and-done NBA developmental clinic in Kentucky. I don’t think that it was a case of Duke not being able to “reel him in” but rather the fact that Wall is no doubt a one and done player and UK’s recruiting class is ridiculous!!! I just hope Calipari doesn’t turn in to the Peat Carroll of college basketball. I really wished that the NBA would adopt draft eligibility rules similar to college football, then maybe all these draft classes won’t be so weak and the NBA draft might actually mean something for teams outside the top 10.

Kentucky is far and away the best team in the country on paper IMHO. I think that Meeks stays to go for a championship. That recruiting class UK just locked up is not fair.

Is this kid trouble? He did get the breaking in charges. Doesnt have good enough grades to get into college yet. And he is a fifth year senior(I dont know the story behind this) is this kid trouble? Doesnt sound like a typical Duke guy.

PS I am a duke Fan!!!!

they are going to be up there but a freshman filled team rarely wins it. kansas has all its firing power coming back and were the favorites before wall went to kentucky. michigan state is bringing back a lot of talent. duke and north carolina will always compete.
kyle singler player of the year? i see him averaging 22 pts a game at the 3 this year

On paper Kentucky clearly has the most talent of any team in the nation. However, there are 2 factors that will impact their play and one cannot predict this early what that impact will be.

    1. Many of their key players will be freshmen.
    2. Will there be solid team chemistry or a bunch of guys going one on one?

There are tons of examples where the most talented team didn’t win because there was a lack of chemistry.

The NBA should get rid of their stupid rule and allow anyone to enter the draft. If an 18 year old wants to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan he can do such, but he can’t joint the NBA. How ridiculous is that logic?

Calipari is the kind of coach that appeals to, and wants, one and done players. I think he will get both the benefits and negatives of running such a program.

Who, with any real sense of the climate of college basketball today, really thought John Wall was going to Duke? Come on now, that kid has one and done, or two and done written all over him. He absolutely doesn’t fit into Duke’s culture, which is exactly why elite athletes aren’t clamoring to go to Duke any more. And make no mistake about it, that isn’t a John Wall problem, that’s a Duke problem. Duke doesn’t wanna deal with kids who are going to be early exits, so they don’t really get the elite college athletes any more. Why do you think Carolina is the dominant school in the Triangle now? Hell Duke can’t even beat Carolina at Cameron!!!! Face facts Dukies, your team has officially become the college basketball equivalent of Notre Dame football; once the most storied and dominant program in the sport, now irrelevant.

Besides why would anyone believe that the NBA has any obligation to put up regulation that would stop kids from leaving college early? The age limit was enough. And think about, what do you go to college for? To eventually become a professional right? If you went to college, regardless of your major, and someone offered you generational money to leave after one or two years, and work professionally, how stupid would you be to say,”Nah I need to finish school first.”, if you were indeed ready to take on that particualr career at 18 or 19? I mean the NBA honestly has no obligation to the NCAA, and that the reality. These college b-ball purists need to see that.

Hell can you really blame Gerald Henderson for hiring an agent, given the status of Duke’s program right now?

    1st off…Read my MOCK DRAFT 3.0..its amazing

2nd …Duke is on a upswing. I thought about it….whos leaving that team next season? Singler-maybe but we have Kelly and Plumlee coming in next season. Watch out for his brother and Czyz, Elliot Williams and Miles Plumlee : they will get more playing time and they will thrive ( Coach K always teach freshman to play well as Sophomores) Plus dont forget, Duke always gets a couple of good recuits every year and then we get Seth Curry in 2010.

Kentucky has the potential to be dominant expecially if Jodie Meeks gets smart and realizes he has no place being in the draft. It has to do with chemistry and if the freshmans can mature througout the season. John Wall wouldn’t have been able to perform to his highest ability in the duke offense anyway. I cant wait to see how Kentucky will be next year!
