valentineNo-one has really talked about Duke for this season but i think they might do okay. They’ve got four good backcourt players (Curry, Scheyer, Smith, Dawkins) and have accumulated a good frontcourt (Plumlee brothers, Kelly, Singler). Can they make it to the final four?

TheAlchemistNolan Smith can play the point.

PureshooterParticipantThey’ve also got Oleg Czyz, who is a very athletic forward with plenty of upside. I think they’ll finish 3rd or 4th in the ACC, but could be the kind of team that gets hot at the end of the season and wins the ACC tournament.

Henry25Participanti wouldn’t be shocked if they make it to the final 4, but lately the Blue Devils have really sucked in the tournament. I really like Kyle Singler tho, and even tho I’m a UNC fan, I would like to see Singler do really well because i feel that a lot of people underrate him.

rtbtParticipantAlthough I don’t think Duke is a Final Four team, you never know.
One thing they have in their favor is size in the front court for the first time in years. If you will recall, Duke was constantly pounded on the boards by their opponents who regularly outrebounded them by a wide margin. If anyone is familiar with my posts, they will know that I believe rebounding is one of the major ingredients for a winning team. Without it, your opponent gets multiple 2nd shot opportunities which will kill you over time.
One negative against Duke this year is the fact that most of their big men are freshman or sophomores. In other words, even though they finally have some size up front, they have very little experience. Sometimes young guys step up and perform, but more often than not, they need at least one season to learn the nuances of college basketball.

Lemons4LifeParticipantDude, Duke has just as much if not more talent than NC. Davis is pretty much the go to guy and he hasn’t showed anyone anything. Duke has Smith, Singler, and Scheyer who all can play. I really think Duke will get NC this year.

jeff416ParticipantImo UNC has more talent this year but next year I think Duke will be better because I think they will get Irving and Barnes.

quincey hodgesduke basically has the same big men just with different names..big men that are talented but too soft to bang down low or just dont like banging. there guards are ok but nothing to be really afraid of other then there wing shingler

TheAlchemistOK…who would you rather have….The Wear brothers – David and Travis from UNC. Or the Plumlee brothers – Miles and Mason from Duke. Who’s better?
0- Posted on: Fri, 10/23/2009 - 4:39am #223247
rtbtParticipantIt’s a mismatch because both of the Plumlee brothers are very athletic, while the Wear brothers are just tall players with a nice set of skills. In other words, Duke has the much better pair of brothers.
Having said that, you never know how young players are going to perform under the pressure of an elite NCAA basketball schedule.

quincey hodgesto be honest neither. id rather have the bother at kansas cuz they go hard as well as being talented..although i do like the younger plumlee brother but he doesnt even look as good as josh mcroberts before he went to duke

quincey hodgesduke seems to get athletic big men who dont like to bang though..the only time they do real well is when they get a big man who likes to bang liek a brand, boozer even sorry sheldon williams..or if they have a couple all american guards/fowards

The Big ODuke is soft. Duke is so soft it hurts to watch sometimes. UNC is soft too now that they got the Wear twins.
SF Kahwi Leonard (Riverside King) dominated both of them in the title game. these clowns were heralded as the next great big men. I didn’t believe it then and I don’t believe it now.Duke and UNC are not very physical teams.
id rather have the bother at kansas myself but they’re kind of finesse as well IMPO
O’Bannon brothers anybody lol jk? .)

quincey hodgesyeah but carolina is more physical with thompson down low..he goes harder then all those dudes and even though ed davis is raw and slim he goes hard as well..duke doesnt have any bigs that go hard liek that..i think carolinas big problem will be at the pg position

The Big OI forgot about Davis and Thompson, and even they won’t be “bangers” at the next level.
Davis has the “potential” to be a banger “if” he puts on the weight.
But I guess. but after this year college basketball is gonna be downhill impo. A lot of finesse players
and big wing players instead of bangers with finesse
that’s the way I see it. that’s the way I see the game evolving.0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/24/2009 - 5:42am #223516
quincey hodgesyeah but we just talking about this level..and thompson will be a banger at any level..doesnt mean he will be that good but a go hard person always is a go hard person reguardless what level they play on..just like hansboro. it doesnt change because of what level you are on
