Wavy BagelsParticipantWelp….
So far tonight, everyone’s favorite rookie center, Andre Drummond, has 12 points, 10 rebounds (6 offensive), a block and a steal in only….wait for it….14 minutes vs Milwaukee. Now I’m not going to write about how bright Drummond’s future is, that’s already been stated by a handful of us “Dotnetters” (little nickname I came up with), but I wrote this to ask when will Lawrence Frank give Drummond the start to begin the Monroe-Drummond tandem. Now I know things are going well with Jason Maxiell starting, but it’s only a matter of time until he loses it to Drummond. Thoughts?

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI believe he will be starting after the all star break, it’s crazy how productive he is in so few minutes. I can’t believe scouts thought it would be “at least” 3 years before he would be able to contribute

Chilbert arenasParticipantLol “Dotnetters” I like it, but I’ve been wondering the same thing. They’re still in the playoff hunt so I don’t know if you want to mess with the rotations just yet, but with Monroes passing at the high post and Drummonds finishing it’s about time they start building chemistry for the future.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantThe pistons should target Otto Porter in the draft to take the reigns from Tayshaun Prince and they will have a good young core. Do you guys view Brandon Knight as their long term answer at point guard?
0- Posted on: Tue, 01/29/2013 - 3:57pm #742749
Wavy BagelsParticipantEhhhh…Long term? No. But I’m willing to see how he progresses in the next 2-3 years. He may prove me wrong.

Sotos14ParticipantMost detroiters see him as a combo guard off the bench down the road when this team is ready to compete. I for one hope Joe D makes some moves and ships out Prince to free up more money for offseason. Take that money and offer bledsoe contract clips can’t match. If something like this were to go down then Otto P would great pick for team like you were saying

Chilbert arenasParticipantAgree with SHARPE on Knight, I don’t see him long term but he is still so young, but his career might be best served as a 6th man when all is said and done ala Jason Terry.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantThey should try to trade for another pick(shouldn’t be hard in this draft) and snag hometown guy Trey Burke yes?

FearTheStacheParticipantI think it would be awesome, and realistic, if the Pistons traded Brandon Knight for Eric Bledsoe. Knight, for me, is more of an off the bench PG sixth man, while Bledsoe could totally be a starting point guard.

r377ParticipantDwight Howard per 36 mins – 17p, 12.4r, 2.5blk on 57% fg
Andre Drummond 13.2, 13.2, 2.9blk on 61% fgAs a pistons fan i dont’ want to get too over excited but Andre has exceeded my expectations, i thought he would take more time to develop.
I think Pistons management / coaching should be mentioned. They have brought him in slowly, playing against alot of second units builds up his confidence. Veterans like Maxiell and Prince have helped him – I am not sure if Ben Wallace is helping also ?

r377ParticipantKnight is frustrating, I can’t believe he scored 31 points with zero assists. Greg Monroe is almost beating him in assists….
Knight is still young and i think he will come good, we just need to have patience. Lets face it, he would only be a junior in college this year…

r377ParticipantBillups, Gary Payton and Mike Conley were all high picks who were considered busts early in their career. I think Knight just needs more time….

r377ParticipantCorey Magette’s $11 mill comes off the books at the end of this season leaving the pistons approx $16 mill under the cap not including Bynum and Maxiell who will be looking for new contracts. After the end of the 13/14 season Stuckey and Villanuevue contracts are up – $8.5 mill each

Sotos14ParticipantAlso to note, CV’s contract can still be amnestied bc part of last cba.

ZEOParticipantI hate the piston so much! I wanted my bobcats to draft him but don’t get me wrong MKG is a good pick but this guy has so much potential! I’m telling you his going be something special in the next couple years!

Sharp ShooterParticipantI agree about Knight…its frustrating to watch him..I just think that he needs a mentor(stuckey is not a mentor)…and he should of been brought along slowly like monroe and drummond, as opposed to just throwing him in the fir his rookie year.
As for Drummond, you gotta take your hat off to Detroit’s management for his rapid devlopment. Drummond probably will be starting the 2nd half of the season (like monroe did his rookie year). I think Detroit is waiting to see what they are going to get with the scrubs (Villanueva,Daye, Jerebko,Middleton).
It’ll be interesting to see how the pistons do in the second half of the season especially if they make any trades.

Prime TimeParticipantLawrence Frank is doing a great job with Drummond, and Drummond seems to be building a strong relationship with him. The Monroe-Drummond tandem will be scary, but I think Lawrence is doing the right thing and taking things slow. It may be a little early, but I don’t think Knight is the long term answer for the Pistons. I think they should try making a trade for Kyle Lowry.

phila9012ParticipantOnce Monroe develops a consistant high post jumper. Drummond and Monroe will be a great tandem. Monroe is good in the post too, so he will need to get touches there too, but overall they are a great tandem and now that everyone is going small them together should at least be interesting

mikeyvthedonParticipantHe is now averaging 13.5/13.5 and 2.9 bpg per 36 minutes. Heard the last rookie to average 13/13/2 per 36 was Shaq. Now, Shaq averaged 22.2/13.2/3.4 per 36 his rookie season (plus over the entire season, as Andre will have to work to keep these #’s up). Nonetheless, what Andre has done in his young career leads one to believe he can make a big impact down the line. This game was a blow out, though at one point Andre was helping build the lead. They lost it when Brandon Jennings completely went off.

lalailaParticipanti have said numerous of times IDK what I would pick between him and Davis, now more and more I think i found out the answer it’s ANDRE!!
potential to be the best rebounder in the league- yes
potential to be the most versitile defender(blocks, steals pick&roll) – yes.
potential to be THE best defender in the NBA -yes.
and potential to lead the league in dunks for multiple year lol – YEAHH.0- Posted on: Wed, 01/30/2013 - 5:46am #742967
joecheck88ParticipantI am Andre Drummond’s biggest fan. I always said I would take him over Anthony Davis in this draft. All that being said I think we need to slow down with the Drummond hype. He is having a fantastic rookie year and is looking like a beast but there is no answer yet as to who should be picked over whom. Anthony Davis is averaging 16.5, 9.5 and 2.25bpg against the opposing team starters. Andre is getting 13 13 & 3 against mostly backups. They’re both freaks and both have enormous upside. I just can’t see the justification in saying one is better than the other at this point. They play different positions and Davis is better on offense right now. Anthony Davis looks like he is gliding on the court. It looks so effortless for him even at this age. Let us also not forget, Davis has only been this size for a few years. Drummond has been that big for longer. He knows how to play as a big man. Let us raise the question of who is better after a few years because right now both are playing extremely well in their first year.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantWhy couldn’t you believe that scouts ought it would take 3 years after watching him at UCONN?
