BleedGreen808ParticipantThe league decided not to suspend Green but will apparently upgrade his Flagrant 1 to a Flagrant 2 and will also be fined $25,000. The league said they could not determine the intent but in 2012 Dwayne Wade was suspended for a game when he kicked Ramon Sessions below the belt in a similar fashion. The obvious thought is the league wants Green out there for Game 4. To me that shouldn’t be the case regardless of how important the player is or how big the game is.
Statement from NBA executive VP Kiki VanDeWeghe: "After a thorough investigation that included review of all available video angles and interviews with the players involved and the officials working the game, we have determined that Green’s foul was unnecessary and excessive and warranted the upgrade and fine. "During a game, players – at times – flail their legs in an attempt to draw a foul, but Green’s actions in this case warranted an additional penalty."

220ParticipantDwyane Wade’s kick on Ramon Sessions was clearly undeniably international. He was completely in control except for his kicking leg. There was no momentum, he wasn’t off balance.
Draymond Green meant to kick him, but it’s debatable if he meant to kick him there. If this was the regular season he probably gets suspended, but since it was the playoffs they chose not to.

BleedGreen808ParticipantI’ve just never seen a player kick their leg up that high to "sell a call". But the fact they upgraded it to a Flagrant 2 is something to keep an eye on. Green is building up technicals and flagrant points in the playoffs and is edging closer to a 1 game suspension for that.

BasterdInABasketParticipantSo his foul is upgraded to a flagrant 2 which always warrants an ejection. So a flagrant 2 that doesn’t result in an ejection or a game suspension?? Is that usually the case when a flagrant is upgraded to a 2 post game?

MatosParticipantI think his next technical gives him an automatic suspension if I heard correctly on ESPN yesterday. Thats actually very important because he now has to be on his best behavior for this series, and even if the Warriors win the series with him avoiding a tech, he’ll have to go thru the entire finals series without one because being suspended a game in that series is even more important than this one.

ExumInfernoParticipantWhat are the odds of one player kicking another player in the same and painful place twice, it would seem the NBA like Green and his team, or at least the more money from more games in this series.

NZBennyParticipantClearly the league wants him to be playing, and though I would like to see him gone for reasons made obvious by my name, I think the Thunder still will win the series. However, to me suspension should have been the only option. Green kicked Adams while he was flopping, something which the NBA statement on his non-suspension admits. Since this is not a genuine basketball action, shouldn’t intent not really matter. Green kicked and hurt an opponent while making a non-basketball action. That is worthy of a flagrant-2, which leads to ejection. Since Green was not ejected, he should miss one game, or (what I think would be the most fair and interesting) should only be allowed to be on the floor in game 4 up until the point in the game when the foul occured in game 3. That would accurately mimic what should have happened if he was correctly given a flagrant-2 in game 3.

McDunkinHow about we just let Steven Adams get an uncontested kick at Draymond’s nuts at the tip of game 4 and we call it even?

ZouldiersParticipantI hope he gets his balls kicked. That was clearly intentional and the NBA are protecting the Warriors SMH.
