Ball Is LifeParticipantWhat do you guys think that this years NBA Draft’s biggest surprise was? Mine would probably be that the New York Knicks placed at the 17th pick decided to choose a defensive point gaurd named Iman Shumper, the Knicks did in fact need defence, but NOT in the form of a gaurd. Do you guys agree? Disagree? Let me know what you think!!

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantI don’t know how that was a suprise if he was on top of the Knicks board. Mine was Nolan Smith to Portland at 21 right when they traded for Raymond Felton. Now they have Felton, Smith, Armon, and Patty Mills

NashyMingParticipantI think Iman Shumpert is a solid choice. I think he’s undervalued by a lot of people here. I see him more as a SG than a PG. He can’t run a team and had been rather inconsistent offensively, but his defense is pretty good.
If you can coach this kid into focusing on defense and shooting 3s (he improved a lot there). He can be a very helpful role player. The Knicks already have Melo and Amare to take the shots, they need someone to play D.
The good thing about Shumpert is that he’s 6’5 with long wingspan, good speed and altheletism. He can play defense on PG, SG, SF. That’s why they are trying to sell this pick to the fans as the Wade-stopper.
If they have Shumpert plays PG and running the offense, it would not look good, but I think the Knicks pick him to be a defensive SG capable of stoping PG, SG, SF and shoot an occasion 3s and occasionally handle the ball, then it’s a great pick.

kingoftheplaygroundParticipantthe biggest surprise to me was Triston Thompson being picked 4th by the Cavs. i just knew that they would select either Vesely or Valanciunas. also Brandon Knight falling to the Pistons at 8.

CpizzieParticipantThat team is in no need of offence. instead they went with a guy who can shut down the great point guards of the league. good pick and good topic!!!

festar35ParticipantPersonally it was the Pacers getting George Hill as I didn’t even know he could be had let alone to the Pacers. I was confused when they picked Leonard with George and Granger there but so happy to see George Hill was acquired.
Another one was how far Jordan Hamilton fell, from being 9 on Bilas’ board to being picked up at 26 to Dallas then traded.

MagikKnickParticipantKnicks needed defense, wherever they could get it….and idk why its so surprising, they’ve been linked to Shumpert since the combine, i mean…i had it right in my mock 8)
As far as surprises, BKnight slipping to 8 was surprising to me, once Toronto didnt take him at 5 it was almost obvious, but i dont think anyone wouldnt predicted that b4 the draft started.
Not to mention..Nolan Smith @ 21….

surveParticipantTristan Thompson and Nolan Smith…also the fall of Jordan Hamilton and Tyler Honeycutt were my biggest surprises.
Shumpert was not surprising and plus on Ford’s last mock that was posted, he had Shumpert at 20, he was gonna go high even if NY didnt pick him, but he was high on NY board.

xavier328ParticipantTyler Honeycutt sliping alway to 35…though he was a sure mid-late first rounder.

cward23ParticipantTristian. I can understand Nolan Smith because they don’t want patty (they offered him a low contract that they figured he would not accept last season and he accepted it)

JJeff6ParticipantI was suspecting Josh Selby to be a late first or early second rouund pick but not a late second. I didnt see him falling all the way to 49.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI had Selby at 37 I think. The Tristan Thompson pick surprised me. I thought they would go with either Valenciunas, Brandon Knight, or Jan Vesely.
