Lotto StudParticipantI figured Schroeder’s promise would come from the Mavs or Jazz, but could he go as high as “#5” to New Orleans?

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI agree. If he gets a promise it will be from one of those teams. I will be shocked if he falls past Milwaulkee. Especially with the likely hood of Brandon Jennings leaving. I also think a dark horse team for Schroeder is the Kings if Burke isn’t still on the board.

chris_wuzhereParticipantChad Ford reports that:
Schroeder has been promised by a late lottery mid – first team.
Giannis has been promised by a late first team.I’d guess that the Jazz or Mavs promised Schroeder and Giannis was promised to a team like Spurs or Thunder.
Thoughts?

TyroberParticipantIsn’t Schroeder the guy that said he won’t come over unless he is drafted in the lottery? Remember reading a report somewhere but can’t remember if it was him or not.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI think what Dario Saric actually has indicated is that he will not stay in the draft unless he is a lottery pick, which pretty much would mean he would have a guarantee. Think that Schroeder has every intention of not only staying in, but coming to the NBA ASAP.

machu46ParticipantI think the Bucks will bring Jennings back unless a team offers him money he doesn’t really deserve ($11+ million), but if they don’t, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they take Schroeder since I assume Burke and MCW will both be off the board by then.

SiggyParticipantI wouldn’t assume that MCW is rated higher than Schroeder.

machu46ParticipantWe’ll get a better idea about it as we move forward with the draft process, but I’m expecting MCW will be a top 10 pick by the time it’s all said and done.

machu46ParticipantEh, I wouldn’t say that at all, but I think he’s kind of in a perfect situation because the general consensus is that he’s one of the worst shooters at the guard position of all-time and that he’s an average athlete at best. I think it’ll be much easier for him to be a pleasant surprise in those two regards because of that, whereas with guys like Burke, people expect him to basically be perfect, and people will write Schroeder off pretty quickly if he doesn’t perform well here and say that the Nike Summit was more of a fluke.
I mean, it isn’t just me either. One or two of the analysts at the combine agreed that MCW has the potential to be the best PG in this year’s class, and Chad Ford said “You’re not alone (in thinking that MCW may be overrated). HOWEVER, some scouts actually feel the opposite and feel’s way underrated right now. Big PG who can handle and they believe he’s a much better shooter than he showed at Syracuse.”
It only takes one team to see his potential, which I think most agree that he has more of than just about any other PG in the draft (but obviously whether or not he’ll fulfill that potential is a big question). But in a draft like this, I think there’s a very good chance a team takes a swing for the fences and takes MCW early since there aren’t many guys with his potential this year.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Thunder should look at him. He is a guy who can get guys shots and allow Russell or Reggie to play the 2.
If they don’t go big (Dieng or Withey or whoever) then they should look at MCW. Alex Len sounds great too but he will probably be long gone by then.

machu46ParticipantAnother possibility is that they didn’t actually receive promises and that their agents are throwing rumors out there to drum up more interest.
Can’t wait to see this process unfold. Team workouts usually help to paint a much clearer picture of who is targeting whom, although there’s obviously some exceptions (Dion never worked out for the Cavs for example).

BasketballJunkie224ParticipantMCW is in fact underated. I play ball and know exactly what its like to give great passes and have teamates not be able to finish. Once in the nba or even at the combine he will show how he can make the best players better. MCW looks out of control sometimes during games il admit it but it is rarely his fault. In the nba he will be playing with prime time finishers and if he starts hitting his FTs and improves his shot selection then he will be pretty damn good in the L
