I would like to know if it is possible for a team to make pick they have traded less protected.

Example: The bulls have a bobcats pick that is top12 protected in 2013, top10 protected in 2014, top8 protected in 2015 and unprotected in 2016. Can the bulls trade one player and the bobcats reduce the pick to top8 protected in 2013, top6 protected in 2014,unprotected in 2015 or maybe unprotected at all.

It would be like sending a player for a better pick than you have. The change of protection would only happen if the team that owns the pick and the team that had the pick allowed. I hope i made myself clear.

Is that possible? And can the make the opposite as well(make the pick more protected again with both teams agreeing on the terms).

The Bobcats reserve the right to change the protection on the pick.

I think golden state was afraid of losing their pick so they tried to make a trade for more protection with Utah.
