Tobe BryantParticipantWell let’s start PG through Center:
PG- Rajon Rondo (21st thru 25th Pick) – One of the best young PGs today! Can lead the break like the best of them and is good in the halfcourt. Very defensive minded, and has the chemistry with KG to get pick and pops on the court. Great defensive backcourt for my squad.
SG- Kobe Bryant (11th thru 15th Pick) – Best SG I ever witnessed to play the game. I have seen him from his rookie campaign up until the beast that he has transformed himself into today! All-around skills and elite athleticism. A true clone to the GOAT himself. Check the resume’, he has it all.
SF- Danny Granger – (16th thru 20th Pick) – Good to have a offensive minded SF with some defensive tools. He was one of the best options at this spot, he has a bright future ahead of himself.
PF- Kevin Garnett (Top 5 Pick) – My favorite PF of all-time. A 7 footer with the ability to play EVERY position on the floor. Sick mid-range, great passer, and rebounds like a madman. Did I mention he is a monster on the defensive end? Surefire HOFer in my book!
C- Andrew Bynum (6th-10th Pick) – I needed a legit center in this spot. Bynum IS feasible and gives me the Twin Towers effect. Not to mention that he is great when healthy.
Rotation Players: Manu Ginobli, Aaron Affalo, Carlos Boozer

0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 6:21am #547632
jjonzParticipantthe likely selection is to Have MJ as your franchise guy. Plus he has such a dominating personality that could hinder weaker teammates. And KD is one of my favorite players today.

JoeWolf1Since HeGotGame took Granger while I was typing, I’ll move Sprewell to my starting 5 and replace him with Ty Lawson since I don’t have a backup PG.

jonus grumbyParticipantbeing a bulls fan I remember that. Bulls had #2 pick with Bird and Magic there. But we had to pick Greenwood because Boston picked Bird in ’78.

jjonzParticipantfor an extra year. I can’t remember the reason why. Could have changed the franchise, but oh well, I’ll take MJ over Bird.

SG Kobe Bryant
SF Devean George
PF Samaki Walker
C Shaquille O’Neal
Fits the criteria I believe, and they won a title with starting these vatos. Still, I will try a different one with actual good players surrounding my team:
C Shaquille O’Neal (1st pick 1992)
PF Dirk Nowitzki (6th pick 1998 draft, would go with Larry Bird, but I think he was strategically left out since he was drafted in 1978)
SF Rashard Lewis (2nd Round pick in 1998)
SG Kobe Bryant (13th pick 1996)
PG John Stockton (16th pick 1984)
Bench:
Tony Parker (28th pick in 2001)
Manu Ginobili (57th pick in 1999)
Arvydas Sabonis (24th pick in 1986)
Would love to see a team in this format take them down. They may be a little soft up front, though I think Shaq would make Nowitzki and Lewis defensive match-up nightmares, a lot more so than Howard made Lewis and Turkoglu. My all Euro bench has championship acumen in Parker and Ginbobili, plus Arvydas Sabonis, who would have been a monster back-up. I can not lie, I cheated:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/draft_finder.cgi
But, if you are going to do something, might as well do it right. I looked up and down at the players I felt best fit the parameters. The toughest to find was a 21-25 guy, and I might have chosen someone over Sabas otherwise, but if we are talking about all of these players in their primes, my team is ill. Michael playing with Stockton and Malone would probably be awesome as well, but I like Shaq and Kobe as much as Michael and Kobe. Think this team could take anyone’s down.
PS: This Captcha thing is out of control. I could not get it to work on my work computer and had to use my lap top. I am guessing it does wonder stopping spammers, but can it be eliminated for multiple relevant posters, who have over 2000 posts to their name?

21+ Sabonis C. as Hadzialijagic said I hear pre NBA he might have been best player in the world.2td round guys. hard time with limiting this to 3. R Lewis, M Price, Kukoc, Redd, Boozer, Wallace and Rodman. Gervin if he was ’79+ I’ll go with Rodman (rings) Boozer (biggest $$) and Kukoc (cuz Jordan isn’t on my team)

jc75702ParticipantSome of you created terrible choices with the options you have. Danny Granger? Kendrick Perkins? Joe Johnson? BYNUM? LMAO. Those teams sucked. I imagine no team could beat the one I have assembled. Here’s the team to beat:

jc75702ParticipantIt’s clear that I have the best team.
PG – John Stockton
SG – Kobe Bryant
SF – Reggie Miller
PF – Dennis Rodman
C – Hakeem Olajuwon
Just in case someone wants to start the Shaq vs. Olajuwon debate.
Hakeem vs Shaquille O’Neal: 1995 NBA Finals
- Game 1: Olajuwon: 31 pts – O’Neal 26 pts
- Game 2: Olajuwon: 34 pts – O’Neal 33 pts
- Game 3: Olajuwon: 31 pts – O’Neal 28 pts
- Game 4: Olajuwon: 35 pts – O’Neal 25 pts
Shaquille O’Neal, in a 1995 interview, called Olajuwon the best center in the game. “He’s got great moves, a great attitude. He’s a class act. I have no problem with Hakeem being called the best player in the game.” Of course, at the time, Olajuwon and O’Neal were represented by the same agent and agency. But O’Neal was giving respect to the right player.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 10:29am #547835
jc75702Participant1. Larry Bird is not eligible (1978 NBA Draft 6th Pick)
2. If Dirk Nowitzki plays SF who is he gonna guard?
3. Jrue Holiday? Really?
4. Sabonis in his pre-NBA days is not an option. Idiots. Did you see film of him in Europe? It’s NBA draft years not euroleague years.
