Well I’m not the biggest fan of Harrison Barnes (he reminds me too much of marvin williams) but still, NO WAY…. Mcdermott isn’t even being drafted on the current mock this site has up.. no no no no…

I’d vote for McDermott over Barnes for POY, but I’d draft Barnes about 25 spots ahead of Doug.

Doug McDermott is one guy I haven’t gotten a chance to see play yet but his numbers are unreal.  I’ve never heard of a 3 point shooter also shoot 60% from the field.  That’s incredible.  Does this kid have any athleticism at all?

He’s an average athlete with a really high motor.  He’s really tough and loves to scrap, which usually goes hand in hand with being very raw, but McDermott has a great touch, a ton of post moves and a high Bball IQ.  He’s a special collegiate, I have my doubts as to how he’ll do in the NBA, but he’s worth a pick in the late 1st if he comes out.

Let me clarify, I have my doubts because he plays like a power forward and gets a lot of his points down low.  He’ll need to improve his ball handling to be more effective in the pros.  As a pro, think Andres Nocioni who is less cheap and more skilled.

Player Of The Year will come Down to either Anthony Davis or Thomas Robinson..I think Davis will win it..

McDermott has played well this year..But he has to work on his ball handling and getting stronger…

Remember the name Nate Wolters a 6’4 point guard at South Dakota State..Plays alot like Mark Price,Wolters is a shifty ball handler,a good shooter, good length, can create plays for himself & teammates, score off the dribble and knows how to get to the rim..Wolters scored over 30 pts against a very athletic Washington team earlier in this season…

He’s not a bad defender, he’s the type of guy who holds his ground on the block, boxes out, doesnt gamble trying to block shots and gives maximum effort. That kind of stuff doesn’t show up on a stat card.

Sounds like the guy that the Thunder need off the bench.
Also sounds like “the guy unfairly compared to Larry Bird” number 1,054.

If I remeber correctly Doug Mcdermott and Harrison Barnes were high school teamates at Ames Iowa. Also I would take Mcdermott for player of the yr over Barnes but, dont think either one will win or should win it. I had a chance to see Mcdermott play against Bradley this yr. and the kid went for 44 pts if i remember right and 30 in the second half the kid can shoot lights out. I think he can be a good NBA player and would say he could be a Kyle Korver type of player but better rebounder.

Rudeboy_ thanks for bringing that name up. I played against Nate Wolters in high school, the guy is for real, and can do it all. He’ll contribute day one for whatever team takes him in. A true competitor.

@river09…i’m a basketball junkie and watch the game alot, even mid-major schools..I saw Wolters play last year and he impressed me..But then i had doubts about rather he could play in the nba,but this season after seeing him improve his off the dribble game and his strength,i think he will be a steal…
