STATnMeloParticipantThe Knicks beat the Heat tonight in a defensive battle yes a defensive battle. Holding Miami to 86 points and 52 in the last 3 quarters also rebounding pretty well winning the battle 43-42.
The Knicks also have a big coming in maybe Jared Jeffries or Earl Barron and a returning much needed defender/shooter Kelenna Azubuike. Adding 2 guys to their 8 man rotation giving them a solid 10 man rotation heading into the final stretch of the season and playoffs.
New York Basketball is back for now and looking bright

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantMiami simply played sloppy. Too many unforced turnovers. Passes off the mark. Bad dribbling. Wide open misses.
The Knicks didn’t D up any better tonight than any other night, except the Amar’e block in the closing seconds.. Heat just played horribly.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, I give the Knicks plenty of credit. Their defense was good but let’s not say it was a defensive battle. It was a sloppy and scrappy battle. That’s more like it.

STATnMeloParticipantWhen LeBron got the ball I kept saying shoot it shoot it because he isnt a clutch jump shooter by any means. My girlfriend said why would you want LeBron to shoot he’s the best…obviously she knows nothing about basketball. I dont kno why they didnt run a pick and roll with Wade and Bosh and have Miller, House and James(who is a better spot up shooter than off the dribble) spotting up with Bosh rolling down the middle and Wade drawing a foul.

NYK2010ParticipantWhen is Azubuike back for real, they started rumors of him returning on MSG in late December saying he’d be practicing soon. I haven’t heard much or seen him practice since its been 2 months. Has he even been practicing with the team. Great game tonight the Knicks need to play defense like this a lot more often.

NYK2010ParticipantThey needed some luck with the Heat getting almost every call.
Mello improves to 10-4 against Lebron.
Knicks haters reaching I wish that game was on TNT to shut up Barkley at least for 1 night.

sheltwon3Participantscrappy defense makes this a defensive battle. You have guys that on normaly not defensive players and new guy they may not know the system dig deep and put in effort. Some people are blessed to be great defender while some actually have to put in that effort. Knicks did that. Carter, Billups, Walker, and even Williams put in that effort. Melo and Amare put in some effort too even though they are not normally know for playing defense and Amare make a couple of his defensive mistakes. Melo’s job on Lebron was good because he played with his feet and not his hands.
Knicks can play good team defense but their bread and butter is scoring. They could add some big men like Jeffries and Barron and be really nice. I am thinking Shelden Williams will probably be odd man out. Balkman could go too because i was not that impressed with him. Walker needs more minutes. I also liked Williams length.

HitsterParticipantThe Knicks went deeper in rotation last night which was interesting, I figure that Coach D’Antoni is trying to find his best options to cover the minutes that Chandler and Mosgov played. Getting Jeffries or Barron back would give them extra size.
With Philly having been on a big run lately the Knicks need to make sure they stay in a comfortable play off space. Either way unless something major happens it looks like they will have one of Miami, Boston or Chicago in the first round of the play-offs. All would be major battles, personally I’d rather that they got Chicago as that would be a great series to watch seeing Melo and STAT going against D-Rose and co.

I disagree with your statement:
"Some people are blessed to be great defenders"
Defense isn’t something your blessed with, it’s something you dig deep down in yourself to perfect it for self pride. Defense is a choice, not a blessing

OhCanada-ParticipantI hope everyone realizes that Chauncey Billups and the New York knicks took this game. Late in the game this was Miami’s game to lose and New York executed PERFECTLY and insured themselves the best chance possible to win this game. Miami did not execute well down the stretch so they lose. Thats all that has to be said no excuses Miami lost the game.
