UltimatekingsfanParticipantI think people may be overhyping this kid too much as well, no hate for the guy. People are comparing him to Dirk, I dont believe that is a reasonable comparison, he could be Dirk, he could be Darko, that I do not know. To be honest I dont trust European players at all. Which is also why I believe Rubio is gonne be a bust. Does anyone know more about this kid Montiejunas’ game?

the microwaveParticipantwhen dirk came over i remember he was not that good either… several dropped balls, missed passes, and I was not sure what to make of the kid, but we all see hes a star now.. You remember who he got traded for on draft day????FREAKING TRACTOR TRAYLOR…
DIRK ROOKIE #’s: / SOPH #’s – just see the improvement as he got used to the speed / physicality of NBa gm… Maybe this kid can do the same.

EuroBallParticipantI like Donatas Motiejunas game. People really get at the Europeans players for their lack of effort. But really ask your self this one question. If You was to go to Europe and play any professional sport with a language and culture difference in your way, tell me how would you perform as a player and adapt to the community over there? when you answer that question for the bottom of your heart you may understand a bit, what those Euro Guys go through In the US. People have to understand that the world is changing slowly but surely. White, Black thing is total shit in the NBA period the league is changing, so to call him hyped is a unfair due to the past players from his culture or society in the Eastern world. His play is similar to Darko, but he seems to be a different Human being. He helped the World’s defeat the US team and that’s Hard to do in Nike Summit period. We can argue that some US standout was not their but that should never be an excuse, the US have a ton off Talented Kids so we should not disrespect the kids who represented. “Many people believe that when your good you should be discover from young wrong and I think youth brings Hype period”. A lot of parent do not really want their kids in the spotlight at young age because your not going to get out period. So kids like Donatas is perfect in my eyes, the right age were you should get Exposure and Hype due to his age and readiness for the World. Anyway like weezy said “And that’s a Rap”

JNixonParticipantI like his upside, I can tell you that. Whether or not he’ll reach it or play soft is up to him

mikeyvthedonParticipantWhat you just said their, was one of the most mind boggingly idiotic response I have ever heard. At not one point in your rambling, incomprehensible post, did you mention anything that could be seen as a coherent thought. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
For those that did not get the Billy Madison reference, I am kidding with the guy, but I do believe this post does lack a great deal of credibility. I am close to sure you have yet to see Motiejunas enough to know whether he is overhyped or not, but it seems the kid has potential. No, I doubt anyone will be Dirk Nowitzki, but he is a 7 footer with a great skill set at a young age, so I am not surprised he is a hot commodity. Putting him in the range of Dirk Nowitzki to Darko really does nothing to show where he might go, but with the lack of center prospects next year it would not be surprising if Donatas went quite high. I hear has some issues as far as maturity, and of course you wonder about the mental aspect of his game, but what young player does not have those issues? He is a talented lefty who people are excited about and I have heard good things about. The fact that his being European is super irrelevant, and it means he has been training his ass off to develop a skill set. What will contribute to either his success or demise is his athleticism and the attitude he chooses to exhibit when playing the game. Not all Euro players are wimps, and it just usually happens that some prospects from Europe are very frail and just do not have the athletic ability to compete with some of the top NBA post players. Dirk has done well, but his playing away from the hoop leads to the label of him being soft and a giant lack of offensive rebounds. This may indeed be justified, but at the same time, Pau Gasol is a great offensive rebounder who has a great skill set, and I do not think that hurt the Lakers this year when they checked Orlando in the finals. I for one would say I am excited to see where Donatas goes, but I do not know enough about him to judge whether he will be a bust and I certainly do not think his being from Europe has much to do with where they end(ed) up in the draft or whether he will succeed in the league.

mikeyvthedonParticipantWould love to see it. I missed him this year at the Hoop Summit, and I know Macvan stole the show and Donatas shot poorly, but you had to be impressed that he was a part of the International team pulling out a win. I was at work a few days before (at Nike) and met a guy who was responsible for choosing the International team and he said that he believed Donatas was the best 18 year old in the world. He also gave high praise to Kevin Seraphin, who did pretty well and told me the reason Rubio was not on the team was due to conflicts with him playing with Joventut. Nonetheless, do not know the guy well enough to agree with the claim, but pretty high praises and all I have seemed to hear about him seem to be good things so far.
