A little off topic here, but the Dodgers seem to have been sold for TWO BILLION DOLLARS! to an ownership group that includes Magic Johnson. First, congrats to Magic, those movie theaters must really be pulling in the big bucks to allow you to play in this game. Second, let this be a lesson, don’t ever ever ever believe the owners in any major sport when they say they are going broke running these teams. The selling owner bought the Dodgers only 8 years ago. Depsite some of that time period being during a huge recession where lots of business failed and assets lost value, he is cashing out with what looks like a billion dollar profit. And this is in a league that has no salary cap. Crazy!

Congrats to the guy who sold.  That guy is one hell of a businessman.  How much are gas prices in Southern California now?  Not sure how much is left over to go to one of 81 home games to watch the Dodgers.

Hopefully this will work out for Magic.  He should be a great part-owner and will bring a lot of enthusiasm to the organization.  I think he said that he wants to do a lot of things for the community and owning the Dodgers would be a great way to help.

The LA Dodgers are one of the best brands in sports.  They haven’t been winning much but if these guys can turn it around they will have a great asset.

Currrent Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley was seriously considering buying the Dodgers.  The guy is rich as hell and is willing to throw some money around if it makes since.  Not sure why he didn’t buy it.  Guess the asking price was too high.

… I really wish that Magic Johnson and Company would buy the Clippers.  That team is on the rise but the ownership sucks.  With new management the Clippers could really give the Lakers a run for their money.
