I’m happy to see the nba come back… finally…. but (there’s always a but) I also feel a little bit disappointed to see the nba come back after such an awfull disrespectful lockout, with so few changes (even if we only have little information on the next CBA)….

…. I was one of those who waited so much more, and especially a system close to the nfl one with more equity and equal chance of winning : hard cap, no exceptions, contracts only guaranteed in part… make the players as the owners face their repsonsabilites in success or failure.

I want to know if you guys are feeling the same…. bittersweet taste in your mouth (I stay polite)

    all that fuss for what….?

hard to comment without knowing the details. But no, i never wanted a strict hard cap. And i never supported partially gauranteed deals mostly becasue basketball is a different type of game from fotball. Players have to see the court and be involed offensively in order to succeed in most cases and sometimes its not their fault if they just happen to play on a deep team or if the owners flat out overpaid to begin with and the player is playing exactly as was exepected. Well see a lot more ball hogging and player whining if they dont get minutes if contracts are non gauranteed. Plus its more important to protect yourself from bad contracts in the nfl becasue you have about 50+ roster spots where a handful of bad deals could crush your team. In the nba you have 15 guys and if you cant adequately manage a roster of that size, its on you.

As for your comment about players facing responsibility for success/failure just as their owners do, owners were looking for a deal that would pretty much gaurantee that no matter how bad they were at their job they would make money. Thats not the way it should work. The players did give up reportedly 7% of the previous bri which should mean 100’s of millions back into the owners pockets each season.

of course I’m happy too (I watched the nba for 15 year…. half of my life) and agree with the differences you noticed between football and basketball.

But I want the nba to be more equal and more competitive cause that’s good for basketball.

I just don’t think the changes will be so relevant to need what happened.

because you are a Serious Homer and that would Force Your Lakers to play fair…The Lakers and Celtics are the biggest violators of the Salary Cap by laws and I’m dissapointed(but not at all suprised) that They will be allowed to further Ruin the League’s competitive nature…If you believe a Hard Cap and Non Guaranteed Contracts wouldn’t help the NBA grow worldwide…If sports fans were polled on their favorite sports(basketball would likely come in 3rd or 4th) because there is 0 balance and 0 parody in the NBA…The Lakers will always be the Cream of the crop (mostly because they are allowed to abuse the rules on the Cap/Mid level Exemption and promote Collusion) Fans of the Lakers/Celtics and Knicks hate the Idea of A Hard Cap because they would be forced to operate like all the other teams in the NBA(not just abuse the rules and use their location as a strong advantage to cover their expenses with the Luxary Tax)

0 balance and 0 parody? First off its parity, parody would be a leslie nielsen movie. Besides, i think thats baseball you are tlaking about becasue there is a good deal of parity in basketball. I mean mavs have been spending well over the cap for how long before they won a ring? And the knicks have dominating with their almost 100 mill pay roll right?  Meanwhile the spurs have wn 4 rings. Small market teams like the kings, pacers, thunder and pistons have been contenders. ANd i think your sixers not being contenders has as much to do with them investing huge deals in guys like iggy and brand who are not superstars thus they havent really spent money wisely, not becasue they havent spent it.

Besides, i never said i was against making it a little  harder for nba teams to go voer the cap, im for harsher penalites then the current dollar for dollar, just not the 3 dollars bs the owners proposed which will flat out elminate teams from going over. Besides, life aint always fair. If the small market teams want to compete with the lakers, they need to be a little better at their jobs i guess.

I spelled parity wrong…and Teams like the Spurs have been an exemption not the Rule…Im not a small market guy, My Team is actually in 1 of the biggest markets in the league but we have dissed out some bad deals(like the Elton Brand contract) Iguadola is paid fine by my standards(he’s an amazing player, not a Number 1 guy but you get the point)…Life isn’t fair and I’ll agree to that…I guess we all have to cross our figures Some Star will get tired of playing for a smaller market and want to play for Boston, New York, Chicago, Miami or Los Angelos(Im looking at you Dwight and Cp3) oh that is unless we root for the Cleveland Cavs or Indiana Pacers…The Sixers will get a superstar very soon, when players are forced to look at other Big Markets…
