It was a 1v1 shootout between Paige and Warren. Nobody could guard Warren while Paige just kept shooting and driving. I think both players got 30+. Game went to OT. NCSU even led by 7 pts I think with 3mins+ in the game. Final plays where so tense. Tied game with 7 secs left, Warren to the free throw line hits 1/2. Tar Heels inbound and Paige gets to the basket for the deciding bucket

Great game.  TJ Warren was unguardable.  I think pound for pound, Marcus Paige might be the toughest player in America.  He willed Carolina to that victory.  Roy has owned State since he came to Carolina in 2003.  I think he’s like 27-2 against them or something.  State needed this win to have an chance of making the tournament.  Another great college basketball game proving college hoops has never been better.

Both Paige and Warren had 35.

Paige was incredible, he had 31 points in the second half and overtime. I think he’s ACC POY right now and has a shot at 1st Team All American.

Warren was as impressive. After watching this game, I think he should be late lottery pick, this dude was so smooth.

-JP Tokoto is improving rapidly watch out for him.

Marcus Paige is a stud.  Dude is 6’1′ and like 170 soaking wet.  Carolina went 1-4 when he struggled.  He’s been on a tear recently and if he’s not playing well, Carolina doesn’t win 10 straight.  He has to be the most important player to his team in the country.  For a team that can’t shoot free throws, he leads the ACC inf free throw percentage which is mind-boggling.  He’s a tough kid and a better athlete than I had originally thought.  He’s got a very good handler, nice quickenss and good finishing ability at the rim.  I don’t think he’s an all-american yet, but he’s a definite 1st team all-acc player.  He’s the leader of that team and plays like 36 minutes a game in Roy’s fast paced system so he’s in ridiculous shape.  Once he puts on another 10-15 pounds of muscle…….wow.  Tokoto was a beast tonight.  His jumper is looking very good right now and he’s a very good defender.  He can handle the ball, drive, pass, and is an NBA athlete.  Carolina is absolutely scorching right now.

for some reason Paige reminds me of Tony Parker.  I think he has the potential to be the best PG in the draft even though he wont be picked as high as Smart and Exum.  He may not go as high as Ennis…who I absolutely love as a college player.  Still, the signs are there that Paige could be better than them all in the NBA.  I just want to see the guy improve his PG skills and defense.

I just posted in another thread about Warren.  People knew before he arrived at State that he was a scoring machine.  I dont think he is a lottery pick yet because he is rather imbalanced, but he has moved his way into the top 20 for sure I think.

Tokoto….man….the guy has some serious upside.  I just hope and pray he keeps progressing.  He can be an elite defender in the league.   He is not very dynamic offensively….but he is becoming a well rounded player.

Also, Kennedy Meeks has been an underrated part of UNC’s success.  He’s pretty much taken all the minutes from James and Hubert.   And when McDonald is on….they are really tough.

Paige to be a small guard has big stones. He takes and most of the time makes all of Carolina’s BIG TIME SHOTS. Comes off screens, off the dribble , pull up j’s and in transition , He does it!!   Tokoto beast on D.. His offense and jumpshot has improved off the charts. McAdoo well umm  we all know what he is..  Next year is looking nice..Theo Pinson, Justin Jackson on the wings Joel Berry mixing in with Britt and Paige to control the Ball..  Kennedy Meeks should have a bigtime off season..The 25 pounds Kennedy loses this summer hopefully Brice Johnson picks them up.

NC State.. I watched Bee Jay Anya ( DEMATHA) play Kennedy Meeks ( West Charlotte) and he severly outplayed Kennedy in high school. Bee Jay was always thick but now he just looks ridiculously out of shape..

TJ Warren i like.. he has a old man game.. he might take 15 dribbles all game and score 25 points. 2 dribble drives and pull ups, floaters, 3 balls off down screens..nice nice scorer. NBA wise i think Warrens’ lack of athletism will hurt his chances but with his game and movement without the ball He will go over seas and make a killing.Score major buckets and get paid top dollar in the A leagues. Hell NBA aint for everybody! BUT he will still make lots of money!

I don’t know who turned on the toughness switch for the Heels.  In losses to Belmont at home, UAB on rhe road, Miami at home and Wake on the road, UNC was Charmin soft.  I think Roy challenged them and they have responded in a HUGE way.  This is by far one of Roy’s lesser talented teams.  I think this might be his best DEFENSIVE team.  Talent wise, UNC is not elite in the country, but they are absolutely on fire and if they can keep the momentum, could make a big run in the tournament.

thats where we disagree brother.  UNC absolutely has elite talent.  they proved it by beating those top 5 preseason teams.  they can beat anybody.  talent is not the question.  its Roy’s coaching and being able to motivate them.  the wins had everything to do with talent.  the losses didnt.

why it may not seem like they dont have the elite talent is because they dont have all of those big names like when they had on the Felton/Lawson led teams.  they dont have a lot of guys who were heavily hyped high schoolers.  and some dropped in the ratings their senior years like Tokoto and Britt.

its an illusion because their biggest name on the team coming out of HS has floundered.  they have several guys with NBA potential even though they arent big names.

we discussed Paige and Tokoto…then you have McAdoo, Johnson is a less defensive but better offensive version of Henson, Meeks, James (if he improves), McDonald can possibly find a spot on a roster, its early but we dont know how much Britt may improve.

its different when you assess UNC’s talent as opposed to someone like Kentucky because most players that go through UNC will be 3-4 year players.  there are no one and dones…but doesnt mean they lack the talent.

Roy is a hall of famer with two National Titles, 7 final fours, and he has the highest winning percentage in College Basketball. He is a great coach and his record proves that.

Marcus Paige is a mini-Steph Curry.  He looks like an overgrown 12 year old, but is constantly the maniliest player out there game in and game out.  I really hope he doesn’t go pro after this season.  He is the toughest player in the NCAA in my opinion.

Tokoto might start appearing on some mocks for next season.  He has shades of Andre Iguodala.  Beast defender, excellent playmaker, rebounder, and well we all know what he can do when he is airborn.  He has been the glue for the Heels all season.

TJ Warren is a MONSTER.  He sure would have looked good at UNC.  Smart player who takes the most efficient shots and really knows his strong spots.  I would take him in the lottery.  He has a chance to be special.

Anya if he loses some weight and gets in shape is going to be a serious problem.

What a game.  I have to hand it to the woofies.  They played really hard and came up just short.

warren is extremely efficent he doesnt take many from deep because he knows he can get a better shot and he really reminds me of paul pierce from being able to score from anywhere without the greatest athleticism.., i truly think he could be special aswell he knows when to take a shot and when to pass it hes not selfish and is a great offball scorer and anya can be great with his 7-9 wingspan(largest ever recorded) and a crazy stat is 1.4 blocks a game with 11 minutes while he is out of shape! i think he could be a great player and has a chance to be a good pro IF he loses more weight already lost about 30
